Yes,she is and so is txaggie. I think there may be one or two others who haven't posted here much yet. I have this nagging feeling there is someone who's user name I should remember....but it escapes me at the moment.

I saw Aunty Brat posting on the Thread for the cruise....looked like they were having so much fun.

I have been loving reading the live thread....we will have to do one for our cruise. I will try and keep one up for my Med cruise as well!! (if I ever get there)

yup that's why I thought of her...reading the live thread. It really is a way to share a little bit of the magic while we are waiting at home
:hourglass :bored: :boat:

Here my creative solution to solving my airfare problem. They just lowered the CAT 12 on our Med cruise to $5,600 for 4 of us. I currently have about $11,000 for our CAT. If I switch, I pay for the extra airfare and even a few excursions.....

I am having trouble justifing the extra $5000 for airfare....I am just still trying to figure this all out

disneylvr- that really stinks that they would cancel your flight like that!!!
I hope you're able to figure out the best solution.

I was hoping to catch up with everyone tonight, but my cell phone died its final death, so I had to find myself a new one ASAP!

I will check Virgin....good tip...I had not thought of them.

The flights we are looking at are $1100 Air France Dulles (IAD) to Barcelona (BCN)

I did check Aerlingus....JFK (New York) to BCN.....they were $1,200 round trip.

They said it will take 30-60 days for the refund to process....in the mean time I need to come up with a quick $10,000 to buy new tickets.....

If anyone wants to look and likes to find airfare....

We will fly from IAD - Dulles, BWI - Baltimore, JFK - New York, or Philadelphia.

We need to be at our cruise on Sat July 28th...so the 26th or 27th.

We need to fly to BCN Barcelona

Returning - the cruise ends on 8-8-2007...disimbark at 7am

I'm so sorry to hear about this. If you have travel insurance, have you talked to the insurance to see if they can reimburse you somehow. I don't quite know how travel insurance companies handle cancelled flights.

Also, you might want to check Air Gorilla: http://airgorilla.com/

It had the same flights the others found--about $958 for AirFrance from JFK to BCN.

I wish I had been able to help you search earlier in the day. Let us know if you're still looking and need more help!

Thanks I am still looking. This was a new site and they had British Airways Dulle to Barcelona for $939 and I got excited......except to find out it did not include $250 worth of taxes.

Any other ideas....I am open .....

My parents met when they both worked at JPL. My mother went to work there after her 1949 graduation from the University of Michigan and my father after his 1947 graduation from Cal Tech.

My mother was a mathematician/computer programmer and my father was a liquid and solid rocket propellant engineer.

In 1959, they both accepted positions with Stanford Research Institute (SRI) and we moved to Northern California.

Small World...

So Noel,

I have to ask, did the rocket scientist father wear off on you?

But really, how cool is that? What amazing people your parents must have been. I bet there was interesting conversation at the dinner table!

Wow. That is really neat. What a great time period to have been at JPL too.

I have only been here since 1998 after getting my Master's Degree from Georgia Tech.

Computers took up whole rooms and storage was no existant. If my mother loaded a program and it "crashed", she had to reload the whole program. Boy have things changed!!

My friend Susan Parkhurst works as the coordinator for Education Associates at NASA Ames in Mt. View.

Once again amazed at those of you who work in this field, or have family that worked in this field. I have been a fan of Nasa since I was a little boy. Just listened to "Death by Black Hole" audiobook by Neil DeGrasse Tyson - astrophysicist - great listen. I love science and especially astrophysics.

I am following your saga - wish I had some ideas that would help. Airfare was the major reason why we did not do a Med Cruise. It made me crazy thinking about it!

I hope you can get things to work out, and just wonder how they could do that to you at travelocity - keep us posted.

Well, the Cavs won tonight, and are now up 3-1. Close game, but the Cavs pulled it out in the end over the Nets.

Series goes back to Cleveland now.

I was at the office until almost 8:00 tonight - looks like I missed just about everybody . . .

Catch you all tomorrow.

As for Travelocity, when you call, you are connected to New Delhi India. They could really care less. I spoke to supervisor after supervisor and I just got the same reponse...."We are happy to give your money back....have a nice day"

I just e-mailed Sue Ellen (does anyone use her at Dreams?? she is awesome and takes such good care of me) we have been batting back and forth on e-mail all night.....I decided to switch to CAT 12 ....she is going to do it in the morning for me. I save about $5300.....and that will pay for the extra airfare. I wish I could use that $5300 to pay for excursions.....but all in all this is just better for my family. This is really no ones fault...just one of the little bumps in life.

How can I complain?? I am going to spend 2 weeks in the MED on a Disney cruise.....WHO cares if I have a balcony or a window or an inside room???

I have thought a lot about this tonight....I watch two families who live less than a mile from me bury their children last month after a crazy gunman killed them at the school my son will attend. I have nothing to complain about. My family is safe and happy and we are going on vacation.

Note to self - NEVER use Travelocity.

Second Note to Self - May I always have a positive attitude in life.

Your attitude is right on.

I was the kid who brought inert rocket fuel to school and computer printouts to school for show and tell. When I was little, my dad would take us up to the test site to move rocket fuel from one magazine to another. He would tell my sisters and I we had to sit really still or it would explode. Not true, but we sure sat still.

My mother was the only female working on the test site. She had to have a special bathroom built as there were no female rest rooms.

It really made the space program real in our house. I expected by this time to be regularly going to to the moon on vacation!!

I agree with John. Life is too short to stress out about the fare. I did not choose the Med cruise either because of the high cost of airfare.
