I crack up every time I see this...I try to say it outloud and it comes out really funny. It's actually entertaining for us to hear you talk to yourself :lmao:

To me, it is the music to "On the Road Again"... "All Alone Again"... get it?

Just looked at an open house with our exact floor plan. May not sound like a big deal, but it really is. We are in a pseudo custom neighborhood of the 1950s. There are 3 houses that are the same (so we thought) it was interesting that the other house was scaled differently. It gave me the piece of mind in knowing that my upgrades/improvements will keep us just where we need to be if we decide to sell (when and if we ever find that beach house) It was funny to go thru with my mom, she kept saying how nice the house looked (and Paul would say under his breath, and ours looks bad?) My mom has not liked anything we have done in the house since we bought it from her 8+ years ago. Rather funny in my opinion. :rotfl:

We are in a pretty recent "track" community that had many different options when the homes were purchased. It's still fun to go to our friends houses and see all of the different options. We are still happy with the floor plan that we ended up with, but do like to see the others as they come on the market.

It was GREAT outside today! I got a lot of my "Johnny Do" List done. I cleaned out the garage, so that not only do our cars fit inside, but it is nice and clean. All swept out and hosed down. I also finally installed new lighting fixtures that I bought last fall. Our lighting fixtures outside had seen better days. I bought Madera Mission style fixtures for our front porch and garage from Restoration Hardware when they were on sale. Amy got the Mickey Mouse Mission style lights from Disney Direct, and those went on the deck.

Amy says the house now looks like Wilderness Lodge, and all we need is the recording of the crickets.

The only problem is the pole lamp now does not match. I have searched the internet for a match, and while I can find lights that look close, nothing that is an exact match. So I'll keep searching. Can't believe Restoration Hardware doesn't make a pole light :(.

Pictures, John, we want pictures!!

We love mission stuff. Had our Moneyhoon at Wilderness Lodge and have fashioned our decor in the mission/lodge style ever since!

Cute pictures Lisa. What a lovely young lady, and a great way to transfer grief to hope.

While forever changed, things will get better, because life must go on. It is just so sad that we live with so many of these things these days, like 9/11, and the tragedy at VT. Of course when I was three it was the assassination of JFK. Bad things will always happen in the world - we must continue to give our children hope.

And don't worry, I for one enjoy reading everything you have posted, and if it helps to share the grief, keep doing it!

John,

We must be about the same age, I was also almost 3 and my mom said I just looked at the set watching John Jr. and saying "poor boy".

Good Morning everyone. The sun is shining in DC....It is supposed to be a beautiful day.

I am happy to be able to go to church this morning. My DH and I got up at 5:30am and had a date to Starbucks. We sat there and talked for an hour. We have not had anytime at allwith each other. It was very nice. He is now off to church and I have the job of waking the 3 kids up!    How much fun do you think I will have?

I really want to see a picture? Can you do that for us? During that Noreaster last week the fixtures were ripped off the front of our house. They really needed to be replaced anyway. I had not given it any thought at all this week, but I guess I need to figute that out.

Restoration Hardware is an awesome idea.....I was thinking Home Depot.

In Leesburg VA there is a Restoration Hardware OUTLET. Everything is 50% off. If you guys ever need me to see if they have something, send a picture and I can check it out!! The supply is very good!

Thanks John, it really did cheer everyone in my household up yesterday. I had helped plan one of my best friends surprise 50th birthday parties. It was last night. None of us felt up to doing everything. Thanks goodness everything had been bought and the caterer set up before Monday. Everything was in my garage. Julie (my friend who turned 50) husband was awesome and did a great job!!

I guess living in DC, or any big city, many of these types of issues will touch your life. Do they seem to be more common? They sure do to me.

9-11 - Three Centreville residents were lost - one was from my church and sang in the choir.

Sniper - Do you guys remember that....we could not get gas....That might have been when I was the most scared in my life. We would drive 80 miles west just to get gas.....

And now VA Tech.....

I was in first grade when JFK was shot. I often will say it is my first real memory.....In DC that day in November, it was very warm...hot actually. I had shorts on in school. They closed school early and I had to walk home by myself as I could not find my brothers. When I got home my mom and sister were not home and I went to the next door neighbor and told them my sister and mom had been shot. Can you imagine if a small child did that today?

Thanks for understanding. We will be fine here, it will just take some time....but I know I will never look at my kids the same!

holly again the preteen girl thing...disney girl singers & on tv.

That explains it! ;)

Holly, see...that's what happen when we have boys. I had no idea who Ally and AJ were either :rolleyes1

I'm so glad I wasn't the only clueless one! I thought maybe it was just something discussed a few pages ago or something that I had missed. Good to know I wasn't losing my mind! :lmao:

Here you go - if I did that right!
Thank you! I tried to google them, but was spelling the name "Ally" so I didn't get anything. :thumbsup2

Well, it's a beautiful day! We're headed out to go to the Childrens' Garden at MSU.

No time yet to take pictures of the house, but here is a link to the fixtures. I really like them - we got them in the bronze finish. They put out a very warm yellow glow when on. Just like Wilderness Lodge.

Although all of us are sad at my house...Annie DD13 is having a very difficult time. She is the most shy, thoughtful and introspective (sp?) child we have. She is organized, hard working and quiet. She has been crying a lot.
]

What a wonderful thing for her to do. She looks adorable in those pictures (and happy!). It has to be so much more difficult for children, who always see the joy and goodness in the world, to understand this type of senseless horrible tragedy.

During our cruise Molly will be missing an important event in her girl scouting life that we have been planning on doing since she was in kindergarden(she will be in 5th grade at time of cruise)

Every year there is a group of Juniors that bridge to Cadette over the
:

Sorry, no girl scouts here, but what a wonderful event this will be for Molly! Even more memorable that the GG bridge!

I wish I had a nickel for every fake ebay and bank email I get . . . Add to that male enhancement emails, and I would be a wealthy man.

:lmao: :rotfl2: Gotta love all those emails.
My ebay hacking came from nowhere...I haven't seen any of those emails recently and haven't bought anything on ebay in quite a few months:confused3

Lisa...sounds like you have the BEST outlets near you! First it was Pottery Barn and now Restoration Hardware!!! I think I need to head out there just to do some shopping. :lmao:

Lisa...I remember the sniper...he was from Tacoma. That was a horrible event as well. The grieving process will continue for a long time with such a widespread event and you have a wonderful outlet sharing with us to help you whenever you need.:grouphug:

Those look great. I need to start searching for house stuff, so when we DO get that house (on June 29) I can start re-doing the whole thing!

Morning!

Lisa - thanks for sharing the graphics and all your stories....and your DD is a cutie and so thoughtful.

Just got finished with breakfast (I know, it's almost lunchtime) it's a gorgeous day out, trying to convince John that a nap at the beach would be better than one on the couch!

It's nice and sunny here today but we may get some rain tonight. I think I am ready for summer!

We went to Hollywood yesterday and saw Wicked at the Pantages. It was a great show. Now I need to go buy the cd.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend so far.

Glad you have perfect weather.....so do we! Today is the warmest yet--we hit 80! Spent most of the day outside. First we went to the Children's Garden at Michigan State University. Here's a link if anybody wants to see: http://4hgarden.msu.edu/tour/overview.html. I have a couple pics below, but nothing is blooming yet, of course, so it doesn't look nice like it will next month.

This is a cute butterfly bench at the entrance to the garden in the parking lot:

One of the many cute statues in the garden:

Cute musical feature. Each square makes a different chime when stepped on:

Then we went to one of the many local nature centers for a picnic lunch and a bit of exploring:

Came home for a rest and lots of water because Tyler got overheated. And I'm fighting a cold that started Friday, so I took a quick nap while Tyler ate dinner and watched part of the Wizard of Oz. In a little bit here, we're going to go plant a tree! The nature center was giving out white spruces today. :thumbsup2 Tyler's pretty excited about it. Should be cute to get a picture of him each year with his tree!

Looks like lots of fun Holly! It's actually cold here today, and raining too. Off to take DS5 to a birthday party!!!
