I met my DH at a party at my brother's house when I was 18. He had just got back from a one year tour with his "rock band" :hippie: out on Canada's East Coast. He was seated , with many friends around him, telling of all his great tales while away:goodvibes I was drawn to him, and listened along with everyone else. I met up with him a couple more times while at my brother's, then he asked me out for a first date for my 19th birthday:flower3: We were married when I was 21 (he was 24) and had a wonderful daughter and son together. We were married for 23 wonderful years and I never grew tired of listening to his stories:goodvibes We would constantly over the years meet up with people that knew my DH but that I didn't know and it would be so interesting to listen to them discuss days gone by...it seemed to be a lifelong journey getting to know my DH and I loved him more each day. I lost my dear husband to cancer 5 yrs ago :sad1: Even at his memorial I had a few strangers introduce themselves to me and say they had known my DH in school and how they remembered him because he was so kind, never a bad word about anyone, and for the wonderful stories he told :goodvibes We miss him terribly, but his love lives on with us forever.
Kathe

What a wonderful story. I am married to a musician....he was in a rock band....I know about the people who come up to you and say "I knew your husband when....." We stopped at a local bar tonight (for a salad) after taking Gretchen to the doctor (Yes, it seems Annie gave strep throat to her dad and her sister) and some VERY CUTE 20 something came running over to my DH and hugged him and said "You're the Godspell guy...I loved it! It was the best!" I think he really liked that.

Anyway Kathe, I am travelling without DH ... just my DH18 and maybe some for his friends. If you want to join up for dinner together....I saw you are travelling alone.....I think I have late dinner.....We have months to plan, but if you are interested, let me know!!

Ok, I have bowled on Tuesday's with friends for five years and before that ran a 26 team league for three years, and bowled as a kid on Saturday mornings (first five pin then ten pin), never did get to watch cartoons.

This is how geeky I am, there is a bowling alley in Aruba, we could go bowl a game on our visit, lol. Averages? Or is that like asking a lady her age? lol

DS18, Daniel, the new HOKIE, loves bowling. They have a bowling team at his High School and they have been to the VA state championship twice!! Haven't won though. I think his average is about 200?? One of the reasons he wants to go to VA Tech is the large awesome bowling alley in the student union. Great reason to choose a college, don't ya think?:rotfl: :rotfl: :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Okay, I have added Tink to my signature....so add me to the Non-tasting list...

That is unless Karen can tell me what Champagne I had in Palo that was sweet and wonderful and they say it is their special??

Poor Gretchen and your DH! But I'm sure Annie is feeling almost like herself by now. :thumbsup2 Lets just hope you and Daniel aren't next.

Bowling alley in the student union......TOO funny!

Hey, Holly, Maybe all the singles should join up for dinner together?? Is that a nutty idea?

Hey, check out this cake! The cutting board the fish is on is the cake, the wine bottle and fish and lemons are rice crispie treats covered with fondant. It was made by somebody on another cruise. Cool, huh?! I find myself anxiously waiting for pictures of the next cake! :thumbsup2

I think it is you, me and Katypop!! Any other singles want to join for dinner?
Well, I'm already sitting with my friend Cindy, and we're joining a family that I've cruised with 2 times in the past (threebritts -- only posted a few times). But if they could fit us at one huge table or at a couple tables next to each other, that works for me!

This time I'm really out of here. I'll probably be asleep before the next person posts. Catch you all later!

What are the champagne girls. What page is that on? I have been gone too long. ;)

Just got back from Epcot. Late night, but another great day. Rode Soarin' at 11, and again at 11:55 to close the place down.

Dinner at Canada was GREAT!

Sorry, can't catch up until maybe tomorrow morning.

I will say one thing. These dogs are TIRED!

Oh don't worry! You did not miss much.

I'm actually booked from Oct20-Nov 6 but will definately not be staying that long LOL. I am trying to find fairly decent airfare and am hoping for an AP discount. I have two different ressies right now, Oct20-30 is at CSR and I am hoping to keep this one. It would be great if we could meet up this trip!Where are you staying? Have you booked airfare yet?
Kathe

We are leaving out of BUF via BOS for MCO $99.00 (125.00 w/tx). Staying at SSR, we bit the bullet and bought DVC after our fifth trip in four years. I am taking one, maybe two, families of newbies with me, they are driving down and will arrive on the 21st. On the 27th, We heading over to a little boat called the MAGIC:banana:. I have an AP and DM is getting a 7 day hopper. No plans on parks etc, but we are thinking of Tuesday or Thursday for MNSSHP. Most of my cruise group is doing Friday for the Party, but I know better, I would be way too tired for boarding. Kind of odd we would have to meet in WDW, when we live in the same province, lol.

I wonder how $1.00 strip bingo is going? I wonder if we will get a mini-trip report on this or a full size one?:rotfl:

Oh, I never do trip reports. My profs always say I was too concise in my essays. All the info, not enough words.

Bingo was a bust.:sad2:

Another reason I wanted to live in the states, bowling as a HS sport and College level too! So jealous. I curled in HS and College instead, sort of like bowling. Bowling on campus, so cool! Might have influenced me too.

My daughter had to watch the 5th grade health video today. She said it was nothing she did not already know. Unfortunately she is mature for her age. So I started probing about what they said on the video and she said the girls started gigiling when they were talking about personal hygiene. My poor DD I feel so bad sometimes that she has to go through everything that us women do but it makes her funny sometimes.

My DS had to do this in school today too. I had to go earlier in the week and preview the movie. That was great fun!! My son was so excite to go to school this morning and watch the video, but has been every quiet about it since he came home. I finally had to ask him about it. To which he replied that he already knew everything!

Isn't it fun to have a tween. :headache: I have one DD 13. Somedays I would like to trade her for a new one...this one is broken.;) Other days we love her and think she is the greatest thing in the world. I just keep telling myself, "This to will pass". :hourglass

I don't dare tell my mom any of this. She would first off be a shamed of me for talking about "that". Second she tell me how this is my pay back for my own tween years. :rotfl:

I'm loving everyone's 'how I met my sweetie' stories! Keep 'em coming!

The work day wound down a little early here, so I've been able to catch up. Now it's time to head out on the quest for food. Sure wish I was with John and crew at LeCellier. LOVE that place and haven't been in the last couple of trips. It's on the list for December!
Hmmmmmm....have to think about my Disneyland dining for May. I think some pancakes at Carnation Cafe will be in order one morning. And my traditional breakfast at Storytellers before hitting the road for the drive back home. Oh, oh, oh and bacon wrapped asparagus at Bengal BarBQue for a mid-day snack :thumbsup2 OK....now I'm REALLY hungry.

Later kids.............

Bacon Wrapped Asparagus, where?:confused3

Is this near Indiana Jones and I have never tried it?

Oh my...

Karen
