DH and I met on the internet in a chat room on Prodigy (are they still around? :lmao: ). We started emailing each other in January and had our first date on March 1st. It was a disaster and we both decided that we weren't each other's types. He lived in Mansfield and I lived in Columbus and we decided that even though we weren't each other's types we enjoyed emailing so we continued. One day he came down to do some work on my basement and we became friends. This was in '93 and we married in May of '94. I was 47 and he was 51. I had never been married and also had decided that I finally liked being single and he had been married twice and had no intention of marrying again (never say never :rotfl: ). We will be married 13 years this May. :cool1: Two of our daughters (the one with the new baby in CA and the one in OH) are from his first marriage, the third in WI is his step-daughter from his second marriage (she thinks of us as her parents, long story). So I guess the moral of many of our stories is never give up, the right one will come along when you least expect him.
Awwwww.....yet another sweet story! :goodvibes

DH and I are high school sweethearts. We met when his family moved to our town in 9th grade. We did a play together and HAD to kiss. We didn't start dating, however, until two years later, again while doing a play together. DS9 is really into acting and doing plays, so I guess I should look out for his leading ladies. :) Anyway, we married immediately after graduation from college and celebrated our 20th anniversary last fall.
Awwwww.....how cute! :goodvibes

My DH and I met on a blind date as I had said in a previous post. My evil step-mom and DH worked together so she set us up. The day before our date he called and asked if I liked to fly. Anyone who knows me knows how terrified of flying I am. I lied and told him sure. When I got to the airport to meet the mystery man he was waiting by a little two seat-er helicopter.:scared1: I almost yakked all over the place. How was I going to tell this adorable boy I was not going to get in this mash looking tin can with him? I didn't. I went and we had a blast. He said I white knuckled it through the whole thing. I think he was trying to get me to become a member of the mile high club.:rotfl: We married a year and a half later and I turned 21 on my honeymoon. We will celebrate 14 years this June.:lovestruc
Evil step-mom sure wasn't acting too evil when she set you and DH up! ;) How funny about the helicopter! He must have been really cute for you to fight your fear and fly with him! :lmao:

Vast it is - that's why it is "World" instead of just land!

Just checking in quickly before we head out to Epcot and Dinner later in Canada at Le Celier! We had just about a perfect day yesterday. From about noon until 11:00 at MK, broken up by dinner at Ohana which was great!

Lots of people now - very crowded yesterday at BTMRR, and SM. Standby lines were anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour on the major rides, and 15-30 minutes on minor rides. We fast-passed our way around the park while doing things that took little or no waiting, and then came back after dinner and rode the major rides - had fast passes for all of them. No line waiting for us!

Sophia rode all three "mountains" and was sound asleep on the bus heading back to Beach Club. This morning I got up early and did ToT and Rockin' Rollercoaster at MGM and headed back with lunch for my tired family.

Epcot open until midnight tonight, so you won't hear much back from me today.

Have a great day everyone!
Wow, glad to hear you're having a busy, but fun time! What's BTMRR?

Here's another romantic story - after tragedy that is.

Yes, Daphne and Peter married just 6 weeks after us in 1969. They were happy, but couldn't have children. After 5+ years, they managed to adopt twin 6 month old girls which was wonderful. Only a few months later Peter developed a brain tumour, successfully removed, but with the complication of a brain bleed. They sorted this in another operation, but he was left blind in one eye and with tunnel vision in the other. His personality also changed and other problems arose - I won't go into them. Eventually after deteriorating slowly he died when the girls were 14/15. She rebuilt her life, went on cruises(they had never been out of the country) and made new friends, and said she didn't want another man!

I can't remember how many years it was, possibly 7, she came accross the mother of her first love who she went our with from age 13 to 16. They got in touch, met up, (he had not long lost his wife to ), and well, they got married.(I think about 8 years ago, memory bad!!) How fantastic is that. He is lovely and they have a great life together! Makes me smile just thinking about it!
Awwwwww, that one almost made me weepy! :goodvibes What a great ending! My ex-husband used to tell me that someday, years down the road, he hopes we end up re-married. He would constantly tell me every time he heard of that happening to somebody. ;)

And there are many, many nights I have the same dream (with slight variations each time) about reuniting with my 2nd love (we were together from age 17-21). The basic idea each time is that I run into him in a public place, he reveals that he's been divorced for a few years and never really stopped thinking about me, and we end up back together. Crazy!

Thanks for the birthday wishes! It started out great. DH & the kids showered me with presents in bed before he took them to school.

Molly gave me a pedi gift cert to my favorite salon.
Paul got me a beautiful gold necklace to match a bracelet I got in Florence Italy
Wilson...made me a a gift certificate for a massage on the cruise :goodvibes
(I have to go back and look it at, I think he drew the Magic on it)

All fabulous gifts and such sweeties.

Love hearing the stories of how everyone met. Helicopter huh? That would have freaked me out too. (I flew little airplanes (2 seaters) when I was 15-26 years old) but helicopters still scare me.

I think I'll go get that pedi I'm up and awake so I better go enjoy the day :goodvibes
:bday: party: :jumping1:

Sounds like you're having a wonderful day! What sweet and thoughtful gifts from your awesome family!

The first time I met my DH was when he came over to our house (I was still living at home) with a friend of my brothers. Since I couldn't stand this specific friend of my brothers I thought that my DH wasn't worth meeting even though he was cute. We both hung out in the same group of friends so DH and I met several times without talking very much. We even went on a trip to Gatlinburg with this group of friends but I never really paid him any attention.

Then some of the guys from the group decided to join a co-ed bowling league to meet women and asked me to be on their team. I have no idea why they thought a bowling league would be a great place to meet women. Anyway one of the guys on the team moved out of state and they got DH to replace him. That's when we "clicked". It still took another month for DH to ask me out and then he asked me to see a movie I thought was a horror movie and I don't do horror movies. But I thought if I said no he would never ask again so I said "YES". The movie was "Beetlejuice" and it wasn't a horror movie at all thank goodness. DH and I have been together ever since. In fact, this Sunday (April 1st) is the 19th anniversary of our first date.

It's funny how things work out. I wasn't looking for a husband but now I don't know what I would do without him.
Funny how things work out! Your story just shows that even bowling can be romantic! :goodvibes

I think you expressed just how I feel about my DH. He is my BF, my dearest companion and if I close my eyes, I can see him just as he looked the first time I saw him. I can't think of anyone else who would be a better friend or companion in life.

That's one of the most romantic statements I've ever heard!

Hey mouse surplus has the Disney Cruise Line comforters on sale. Anyone want a comforter that God knows what happened to. I doubt these are NWIT.:rotfl: Where is black light Barb when you need her?

EEEEEEEWWWWWWW!!!!!!!! :scared1: :rotfl2:

First stop was - Costa Maya!! ...
Once again, here are a bunch of photo's...
Once again, great photos! Your girls are so adorable! I just love the dolphin pics. Truly a memorable experience for your daughters. :goodvibes

Don't you just hate guys like this.....YUCK!!

YES!

Hey Holly, I was thinking....maybe you want to join me. One of the ways I am trying to get rid of the 27 pounds I want to get rid of (13 gone....14 to go) is pledging not to drink anything with calories. I notice, you will sit down with a beer in front of the TV....nice and relaxing.....I do that as well. But I pledged to myself NO CALORIES in anything I drink. Iced tea and Water mostly. I don't like diet soda....

Let me now if you want to join me!! YOu are doing such an awesome job of working out!!
Good point about calorie-free drinks. I normally only drink water and diet soda, but have been treating myself to a beer or 2 here and there during this semester off school. When I'm in school, I'm pretty strict about no beer because of needing 100% focus for studying, so it's sort of my treat during my "vacation". ;) But I'm right there with you on the rest of my drinks being calorie-free! Thanks for the tip! :thumbsup2 It's a great idea!

Holly,

Took me a while with this one too.

Big Thunder Mountain RailRoad!!

Karen
OH! I see....thanks Karen! I can usually figure out the letters, but that's something I've never even heard of, so that explains why I couldn't figure it out. ;)

That's so sweet Marilyn, I love hearing "how we met" love stories. I want to hear more, ok everybody, how did you meet?

I met my DH at a party at my brother's house when I was 18. He had just got back from a one year tour with his "rock band" :hippie: out on Canada's East Coast. He was seated , with many friends around him, telling of all his great tales while away:goodvibes I was drawn to him, and listened along with everyone else. I met up with him a couple more times while at my brother's, then he asked me out for a first date for my 19th birthday:flower3: We were married when I was 21 (he was 24) and had a wonderful daughter and son together. We were married for 23 wonderful years and I never grew tired of listening to his stories:goodvibes We would constantly over the years meet up with people that knew my DH but that I didn't know and it would be so interesting to listen to them discuss days gone by...it seemed to be a lifelong journey getting to know my DH and I loved him more each day. I lost my dear husband to cancer 5 yrs ago :sad1: Even at his memorial I had a few strangers introduce themselves to me and say they had known my DH in school and how they remembered him because he was so kind, never a bad word about anyone, and for the wonderful stories he told :goodvibes We miss him terribly, but his love lives on with us forever.

I really liked Costa Maya on our trip last November! We did the Mayan ruins tour with David & Ivan (HIGHLY recommend). We did the dolphin swim in Costa Maya that same trip and it was the experience of a lifetime! Really enjoying your trip report!

p.s......dinner? Friday? April 20th?????

Kathe,

Teary eyed after reading this one! How fortunate to have been together for 23 wonderful years and to have your DH be someone that people remember so fondly.

Wonderful that his memory continues on with you...

Thanks Karen , yes, while very sad, even still, we all feel so very fortunate to have had him in our lives while we did. We do have wonderful memories and I am thankful that my children were old enough that they will always have these sweet memories:goodvibes

I'm loving everyone's 'how I met my sweetie' stories! Keep 'em coming!

The work day wound down a little early here, so I've been able to catch up. Now it's time to head out on the quest for food. Sure wish I was with John and crew at LeCellier. LOVE that place and haven't been in the last couple of trips. It's on the list for December!
Hmmmmmm....have to think about my Disneyland dining for May. I think some pancakes at Carnation Cafe will be in order one morning. And my traditional breakfast at Storytellers before hitting the road for the drive back home. Oh, oh, oh and bacon wrapped asparagus at Bengal BarBQue for a mid-day snack :thumbsup2 OK....now I'm REALLY hungry.

Later kids.............

Kathe,

I am so sorry for your loss. At the same time that is so comforting to know that so many cared for him. My father was very similar and people still share stories with me about him. He was the rock of our family and has been greatly missed. My dad will have been gone 14 years in September and I still get great stories from his friends with smiles and happiness. As you know it helps a little with the pain when others share the happy times.:goodvibes I wish you and your family all the happiness in the future.

Sorry didn't respond sooner . . . . . The company Shawn works for is sponsoring a fashion show at the Biltmore for the Panda Charity. Pretty exciting entertainment this year, a group from Disney will be performing a three song set (forget their name - they are on the Disney Channel all the time). Anyway, the show is on the 21st and they spend all night the night before setting the runway, transporting a million dollars worth of clothing for the models, blah, blah, blah. It really is a Logistical nightmare and he spends at least 30 hours of his time over the two days. He does express delight in being backstage while the models change - sick puppy I know!

Lori  Thank you. How hard for you to have lost your father. Yes, it does help to remember and share the "happy times" with others, doesn't it? My daughter is getting married this May, and of course, it is going to be one of those "moments" that is bittersweet. Both of her grandparents will be there, my dad will be walking her down the aisle, but her dad will not :sad1:
We do know that his spirit will alway be with us though, as will your dad's with you :goodvibes
