I met my DH at a party at my brother's house when I was 18. He had just got back from a one year tour with his "rock band" :hippie: out on Canada's East Coast. He was seated , with many friends around him, telling of all his great tales while away:goodvibes I was drawn to him, and listened along with everyone else. I met up with him a couple more times while at my brother's, then he asked me out for a first date for my 19th birthday:flower3: We were married when I was 21 (he was 24) and had a wonderful daughter and son together. We were married for 23 wonderful years and I never grew tired of listening to his stories:goodvibes We would constantly over the years meet up with people that knew my DH but that I didn't know and it would be so interesting to listen to them discuss days gone by...it seemed to be a lifelong journey getting to know my DH and I loved him more each day. I lost my dear husband to cancer 5 yrs ago :sad1: Even at his memorial I had a few strangers introduce themselves to me and say they had known my DH in school and how they remembered him because he was so kind, never a bad word about anyone, and for the wonderful stories he told :goodvibes We miss him terribly, but his love lives on with us forever.

I'm so sorry for your loss. :sad1: What a great life you had with him and wonderfully special memories that will stay with you always. What an honor that you shared a bit of him with us.

I love bowling and bowl in a ladies league on Thursday mornings! DD bowls in a junior league on Saturday afternoon!:thumbsup2

Karen
I love bowling too! I used to bowl in 3 leagues a week in the late 90s until I broke my wrist. After healing (3 months in a cast), I've just never been able to bowl much without pain. :sad2:

Ok, I have bowled on Tuesday's with friends for five years and before that ran a 26 team league for three years, and bowled as a kid on Saturday mornings (first five pin then ten pin), never did get to watch cartoons.

This is how geeky I am, there is a bowling alley in Aruba, we could go bowl a game on our visit, lol. Averages? Or is that like asking a lady her age? lol

I'm loving everyone's 'how I met my sweetie' stories! Keep 'em coming!

The work day wound down a little early here, so I've been able to catch up. Now it's time to head out on the quest for food. Sure wish I was with John and crew at LeCellier. LOVE that place and haven't been in the last couple of trips. It's on the list for December!
Hmmmmmm....have to think about my Disneyland dining for May. I think some pancakes at Carnation Cafe will be in order one morning. And my traditional breakfast at Storytellers before hitting the road for the drive back home. Oh, oh, oh and bacon wrapped asparagus at Bengal BarBQue for a mid-day snack :thumbsup2 OK....now I'm REALLY hungry.

Later kids.............

Mmmmm:cloud9: Le Cellier :cloud9: I love this place, although my fave is Jiko. Funny thing, I refused to go to Le Cellier my first few trips to WDW because it was in Canada...duh...I wanted new and exciting experiences ;) Now I make sure I dine there at least once each trip! Well, this cruise is my gift to myself for my 50th birthday (this Aug) and my consolation gift ;) since I can't go to WDW this year since I have to pay for my DD's wedding in May...so...:ssst: ...don't tell anyone I've secretly booked 2 weeks at WDW in Oct ! Don't know for sure yet, but I'm hoping maybe I can swing this, and will once again be dining at Le Cellier and Jiko! My dining experience card expires at the end of Oct, I think I need to use it one more time:rolleyes1

I'm totally up for bowling in Aruba! Oh no! Does that mean ANOTHER list?! :scared1: Forget excursions, lets just go bowling! :woohoo: My average is low.....135. But with handicap, who cares!

Katy when will you be there in October? I will be there the 20th-26th.

Holly that is so true, I won't do non-handicap tourneys or leagues.

Off to bingo, it is dollar a strip night, cheap gambling!

Lori  Thank you. How hard for you to have lost your father. Yes, it does help to remember and share the "happy times" with others, doesn't it? My daughter is getting married this May, and of course, it is going to be one of those "moments" that is bittersweet. Both of her grandparents will be there, my dad will be walking her down the aisle, but her dad will not :sad1:
We do know that his spirit will alway be with us though, as will your dad's with you :goodvibes
Kathe

How great that your DD found someone! I hope she has as many happy times that you and her father seemed to have had. Yes it will be bittersweet but you all seem to have a positive outlook at the spirit that will be with you all.

UH OH!!!! Here it comes again, rolling through my head: (*singing*) "Aruba, Jamaica, oooooooooh I wanna take ya........"

KOKOMO! Yup, still my favorite song of all times. Brings back fond memories of my 2nd true love. (The one I have dreams about getting back together with. :sad2: )
