It is beautiful, beautiful here today also! It must be at least 70 and the sun  has been shining all day! :cool1: I had to take a roadtrip this morning. DrHug is working about 50 min. away and he forgot to take his BP meds before he left. He called about 9:30 and said he was feeling it. :scared1: When BP is high enough to feel the difference it is TOO high! So, I took meds to him. The drive is through the country, two lane roads, no traffic so I was able to enjoy the sunshine on my way. :)

So good you were able to take him his meds....that's scary...

Where did you drive to? I love Portland!! Went to school there and had a "cool" aunt (no kids...travelled a lot) who lived in Jantzen Beach.

Befriend me  Befriend me :yay:

Consider yourself befriended!

As for occupations, I'm an attorney and DH works for ABC News in their national news division.

Speaking of ABC News, I just finished reading Bob and Lee Woodruff's book, "In an Instant"...it was really interesting to read how those newscasters move all over the place trying climb the ladder and making virtually nothing. It was a good book and I found it to be a sweet love story!

the other Day I was in Panera Bread and a serviceman was buying like 7 loaves of bread for a party over the weekend at his house. I told him I wanted to buy it for him to thank him for what he has done for my family.

He graciously accepted.....it cost me $20....best $20 I have spent all year!!

That was really thoughtful!

watching the Gators now....

went to Shaner's for dinner...owned by Shane Rawley....MLB pitcher...very cool place-lots of sports memoribilia-and great food!!

Cross your fingers!!

I opened the door at one point to see if we got any mail and was PELTED by freezing rain.

I was pelted tonight as well....It really hurt...I was thinking I might get bruises!!

This image you have really CREEPS ME OUT!! Kinda' like a Howie Mandel looking stalker!!:scared1:

Karen

92 degrees here......DH and my oldest son just left to go up to the mountains for a boy scout weekend and sadly they had to leave the sled here because all the snow MELTED!!!!

Okay...Okay...25 degrees right now and snowing and sleeting and windy....Our Spring Fun Fair is tomorrow at school:rotfl: :rotfl: ....I think Fairfax county will close the schools and it will be cancelled...so much hard work went into this event..It raises $30,000 every year for the PTA!!

We'll be there! :yay: We'll be there!!:yay: :yay: We want to see you!:dance3:

OKAY, I will be the keeper of the WDW DEC 6th or 7th DisMeet. I would LOVE to got to the Mickey party....do you need tickets??

Please PM ME and tell me what day is good and where we should stay??

DH would love to be a botanist and I would love to be:

OPI nail polish namer

I always wanted to name the paint colors at Home Depot!!!

Oh Noel-- of course I'm starving as I read this! You're killing me today!!!

He is working in Dallas today. It is out toward Corvallis/Salem area.

I don't dare mention that four letter word that begins with L###, but I do have to send a BIG THANK YOU and 15 days of bellini's to Noel...couldn't have done it without you. Also to Lisa...owe you lots of DODs.

After all that, it's good to know that it's working very well. Thank you everyone.

Had to look Dallas up...population 7085! Never heard of it, but my grandmother grew up in Monmouth and I still have a cousin living in Salem.

I bet it was a beautiful drive...I miss green...

The fields were very green and the sun was warm for a change! I even opened the vents on the car for a bit to cool it off. May in Oregon is the prettiest. There are at least a thousand different shades of green sprinkled with color from the daisies and golden poppies. :goodvibes

The DW is retired from AAA after 27 years where she did most everything from trip tiks to managment and travel agent. She now sews Fish Extenders on the side and keeps the household in order when I have to travel. I repair and maintain gauging equipment. (I know, what the heck is gauging equipment?) It's the stuff used in manufacturing to make sure of the thickness or weight of products you buy, such as plastics, shingles, rubber products, stickem on stamps, etc., all have the correct amount in or on them.

Now that you know as much as I do I may have to find a new line of work.:lmao: :lmao:
Speaking of fish extenders, I got mine today and it is beautiful. Thank you!!

Sounds lovely...When I moved down here, I thought people were almost deluded to gush about going into the "mountains" and seeing all the "trees." Kept thinking, WHERE? All I see are hills and scrubby, gray green brush.

Love the weather...love being so close to mountains/desert/beach...but, yes, I miss the green...

Legal minimum (I think) is now 20 days plus the 8 statutory Bank (Public) Holidays.

My organisation gives 25 days standard plus an extra 5 days after 5 years, so I get 30 days. Plus 8 Bank Holidays and 2.5 'privilege' days (extra days added to certain Bank Holiday periods). So 40.5 days total.

Plus we work flexi-time. Do you guys have that? I'm contracted to work 37 hours per week but have times during the day when I have to be in work ('core time') and times between which I can start and finish ('flexi-time'), eg I can start work any time 0700-1000, must attend 1000-1200, can take lunch (30 mins minimum, 2 hours max) between 1200-1400, must attend 1400-1530, can finish any time 1530-1800.

It works on a 4-week flexi-sheet, during which time you can take up to 2 full days (or 4 half-days) off using the hours you have already accumulated. Or you can be up to 1.5 days in debit. There are limits on how many hours credit or debit can be carried out to the next flexi period. And it all has to fit in with colleagues/bosses and the needs of the business in your area.

I generally try to have at least a day in credit in case I need an odd day off for something. And if I'm planning a vacation then I'll save my flexi so that I don't have to use as many leave days, eg 2 weeks usually only costs me 8 days leave.

It gives employees some flexibility, and saves employers paying overtime.
And I love it! :) Really missed it when I've worked places that don't do it.

Many people here get 4 weeks max, plus holidays. As far as I know, only bankers and government employees get ALL the holidays, most get the 6 or so regular legal holidays. Now where I work, employees used to get up to 6 weeks after 23 years, (30 days) but that has now been reduced to 5 weeks. Our older employees like me, still get the 6, plus 6 legal holidays, so 36. The one big difference that I can also see is that hourly employees work 40 hours, but salaried employees work a LOT MORE. I regularly work between 50 - 55 hours a week. I know some attorneys who work 60 plus hours!

Some companies have flex time, but not possible in the retail world!
