VELVET KNIGHTS???? The ones who saluted with lawn chairs????? :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

My ex (still friends though...) used to be in the Garfield Cadets - yes, when it was STILL in Garfield and then he aged out and went on to the Hawthorne Caballeros. He was first line Soprano. (Won both DCI's and DCA's...) Anyway... I always knew where he was on the field... His father was one of the original Cadets.....

Best thing about the Cabs was that Budweiser sponsored them (they used to play half time at all the Giants games...) so Bud used to send a beer truck wherever they went. I came home from the DCA's smelling like a walking DWI... which I wasn't... really... :rolleyes1 & I really don't know who did it, but one of the tour busses got turned over that time... I do think they've cut back on their beer consumption since then.

Funny thing about Blast... When the guy came down on the folding chair during one of the songs I asked Joe what he thought and the first thing he said was "it wouldn't be ME..."

Still love to go see the shows... Junior is much more aerobic than Seniors... I LOVE the Cabs... and they're playing Malaguena this year which is a fave of mine.

Welcome George... Join in... You'll find we're all a bit crazy, but very friendly.

Oh and PJ... you forgot to put the Springsteen tour on the tags!!! ;)

Any chance of putting one up for first time cruisers...

I aged out of the knights before the Lawn Chairs. But Drum Corps was a Blast. I loved Hawthorne, and Malaguena gives me goose bumps, still.
Garfield has been around forever, and will probably always be. Too bad VK is now defunct. I favored the old style Corps to the new ones in some ways. But the new style is still pretty awesome. I love it when the Corps turn in to the stands and the Power knocks you out of your seats.

Wow those are all very nice and yes this post means I am like 15 pages behind, LOL. I was off all day so now I am trying to catch up!

See Dennis, that is the point, choice for everyone. The options are on the graphics page of the website and each family can make a choice.

If the gifters of the lanyards choose to, I will add the back option with their DIS names as well. I will do the lanyard gifters option or the castaway cay option, but that is just me.

PJ...

Just a thought... someone might want to have some blank ones and a sharpie around so people can put in their names if they forget...

The tags are on the website's graphic page, anyone on the cruise can go grab them and print them out.

Gee, like the time the 27th Lancers did the reunion for the '94 DCI's at Foxboro??? They had about 3 times the regular corps on the field and when they played Danny Boy...it was just that... goose bumps...

Cabs used to have Malaguena on their site, but I can't seem to find it... I'll let you know if I do... I kept it on my hard drive thank God seeing as they have taken off their videos...

Hello everyone. I am a long time lurker and decided to introduce myself. I am George and my wife is Linda. This will be our second DCL cruise. Our first was Feb08, 4 months after our 25th aniversary and this one will be 4 months shy of our 30th. Looking forward to meeting Bobby. pirate:

How about the rest of us????:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Just kidding. Nice to have you on the thread and :welcome:

Does anyone on here geocache?

Have any of you that know what I am talking about, done it on a cruise (in the ports that is)?

Just curious how well it worked on excursions and the like as I see there are a few around the ports we will be at and I might be able to fit a few in with the excursions.

thnx a bunch

Lisa Saves Lisa!

Its the sisterhood of Lisa's!

We have to look out for each other. :thumbsup2

And yes...we do have to look out for each other, especially on this cruise with there being so many of us.

Speaking of which, Lisa (lbgraves) why aren't you coming with US?!?! You should be on the WB...one because it's a ship full of "Lisas" and two because pretty much all the DIS Geeks are on this cruise. I'm thinking it won't be the same without you!! My suspicion is it's a school schedule thing? (I can't wait to tell my school the boys are missing 11 days...:scared1: )

I haven't seen this show, but I have to tell you both that in the Midwest, that is our impression of California (I get enough of the gist from following the conversation).

Having met a bunch of you from there (albeit online) has given me a different perspective. When I was in DL, and walking around DTD, I did see a lot of what I would describe as my initial impression though.

The "nice" Californians are on the DIS ;) !

(coming from someone who's NOT a native Californian :rotfl: )

We were finalists for Wife Swap after the first year but we decided the money was not worth it because they show the worst of people and while I think we lead a wonderful life, going to church, homeschooling, active in many community activities, etc. live in nice neighborhood, travel, etc. BUT that got me worried about who the swap would be with and after watching several years of the shop on and off I am glad we opted out! They even called back 1.5 years ago offering more money - and we still said no.

It would be terrible if they would send the swap wife on my disney cruise!

Oh there are some dodgy wives on the Uk programme. I wouldn't want one in my house.:scared1:

Haley Mills was born April 18, 1946
3 years older than I am

Jan :earsgirl:
2 years older than me!! You are younger than me!!!:)

Very good point, Lisa...and very true! On one of our past cruises, we didn't do one single excursion, just got off and walked around each port, and Tyler loved that one just as much as the others. He loves telling everybody everything we did on each cruise and I know this one will be the same! :goodvibes I'm just so excited about his excitement, it will all be just great! :thumbsup2

tou are both going to have the best time.

Hi and welcome.

We really enjoyed her show on the Wonder.

Welcome, George and Linda! :goodvibes Glad you came out of lurkdom! Just jump right in and don't be shy. There are lots of very friendly folks on this thread!

The best people are on this thread!!!

Well, I'm caught up and I guess I should get BACK to bed... I woke up and couldn't sleep so I decided to DIS...good thing DH is a sound sleeper or he'd wonder what happened to me (even got a load of laundry in)!

P.S. Hi Marilyn-I see you just posted...but I'm too tired to stay any longer! Sorry, hate to leave you alone!

Morning Lisa. Sorry you are awake in the night - It happens to me occasionally and is soooooo annoying.:sad2:

I woke up tired this morning and think I will need a nap this afternoon which is very unusual for me. I hate to sleep the days away as there are less of them left now!:lmao:

Hope you get back to sleep soon.
