Just keep posting....keep posting....keep posting....

Lori,

Yes, we have the wine shop in Benicia, Ca. We did all of the wine tastings on the EB panama repo in 2005. They were fantatic!! We were really fortunate to have the General Manager and Master Sommelier of the Napa Rose in DL to almost all of the tastings as well as food and wine pairing seminars in Studio Sea.

I hope that he will be onboard again. I am planning to email him about it soon.

Karen, wife of been2marceline

So glad to have the input from the experts. I thought I had read a post where you mentioned that you liked the wine tastings. I thought if you enjoyed them, then I'd better give them a try. DH and I both enjoy wine, but are certainly no experts. I'm loving have the 15 days to try all these things we just didn't have time for on the 7-day.

pirate:

Well this is real interesting . . .

How did this get posted twice?

Now I think I need to go to bed - don't know what I am doing!

Night all!

Ok I haven't read every post. I have strep throat and the word are blurry but someone mentioned decorating fish extenders. I will have to dig up a pic. of mine, it was pre-decorated.

Martini tasting...WOW. didn't do that one on my last cruise. Is that one you recommend? I know dh will want to do the wine ones, but martini tasting is more my style:thumbsup2 Do you think the tastings are reasonably priced for the amount they give you?

We enjoyed the martini tasting. I think it was $15. We were given 4 small martinis (regular, dirty, appletini, and chocolate). I didn't care for either of the first two, but really liked the others. DH and I polished off our apple martinis so fast, the server came by and gave us two more. The CM's leading the tasting told us about the history of the martini and I learned a few things (never knew what a dirty martini was). This time around, though, I think I will try the martini club. I think it is held in one of the clubs a few nights during the cruise. I'm not sure what it's like. I think martini fans just get together at one of the clubs and order what you like.

Yes!! We shipped most of our wine for our last cruise as well. Because we are a wine shop and certified wine shipper, we are able to ship wine to almost every state! Our website is www.winemiles.com. If I have enough advance notice, I can even try to aquire special wines for you that we don't normally carry.

Karen-Can I just say, I love wine?!?!?! One of the things I love about living in the Temecula Valley is that we have a LOT of wineries out here. Maybe not the best, but they're here and wine tasting is a fun thing to do. When we first moved here 6 years ago there were maybe 15 wineries and since then it's almost doubled. I just love wine! Too bad I physically cannot drink more than a glass or two (else I get loopy, goofy and sleepy...hmmm sounds like the seven dwarfs). I look forward to wine tasting onboard, it's good to hear from you that the tastings were worth while because you never know!!!

I'm off to bed too....someone else will have to get the next milestone post - I'll never make it there tonight.

Tigger1221 - would love to see a pic if you find it.

Karen,

I totally agree! I like my beer to have FLAVOR! I consider it more of a food than a drink - I just really like the taste of a good beer, and how it can compliment food - just like some people feel about wine. My tastes go toward the ambers and red beers. I liked the stout I had at the microbrewery on the BW at WDW too. The light beers and pilsners taste like flavored water to me. I really like some of the microbrewery/restaurants that I find. We have one in Cleveland called Great Lakes that is just GREAT.

As to NY, my wine snob boss made sport of me going to NY state for wine. He only likes the Cal or imported wines. NY state was "bush league" to him. I didn't care - we had fun, and bought some wines we really liked. Some wine tastings I have been to though, what others really consider very good wines (esp in the reds) I just cannot drink.

When Amy was not drinking any alcohol a while ago due to medications, she was drinking the non-alcoholic stuff - O'Douls - Patooooey!

Good - thanks PJ. I am not an expert .Mac user, and I thought I may have messed up.

Ted, my DD, and I love to "brewpub" our way around places. Usually the food is great and compliments their own beers so well. We have Pyramid here in Walnut Creek, and we have visited several in Las Vegas and Portland.

And you are right, I would rather drink water than light beer or pilsners. As for non-alcoholic beers, when I was pregnant the St. Paulie Girl was the only one I could half way stand.

I saw online that you carry the Banfi we love. I think we'll have to order some and have it shipped. So much cheaper than the price onboard. We can't find it anywhere around here.

Karen:

That is wonderful!! We are also doing Xmas in WDW this year and the 12/29/07 NYE Magic cruise. May I contact you and order wines for that time?

I would love to chat about some great selections, including some champagne for NYE since we are in the Walt on the Cruise.

Noel

The Walt on NYE???? How great is that? I'm so jealous now. :cool1:

hey guys, just wanted to pop in. I've been extremely busy lately, my sil is out of town and it's playoff time for my brother's basketball tema. hmm, guess what that means? yep, Aunt Kari's had to babysit every night this week...good thing she's so cute:rotfl:

That's a great idea! Flabby Cruisers United! :rotfl: I'll participate!
that sounds great!! lord knows I need to lose more than a few pounds!!

Which part made you :headache: ??? The edible treats or the teams?

Hopefully not the teams! Regarding the fish extenders and giving mail - if PJPoohbear and Laura are up for it, we could put the teams on the website? I will take charge of a team! I'd like Team 6 if possible (May 16, 6th day) - it is my 40th birthday! What do you guys think? This could be fun! Who wants to be on my team??? Any one else want to take lead
on a day?

To clarify, if I am in charge of team 6 (May 16), I would have a few others on the board on my team as well. We would PM each other ideas, see if between us we can cover the costs, and if we come up with a Big Idea  we will ask bystanders on the board to contribute. Otherwise, our team covers the costs for the gifts that day. If we have 6 people in a team, each "prize" costing say $.50, and we have say 200 individuals, it would be less than $20/family. More people in each team, less cost or more expensive mail. And everyone commits to get SMALL things or things that will easily pack (or you can eat!). And not everyone has to be on a team - you can just sit back and get mail!

Up for it all?
Lisa
I'm in, I'll pm you. this works out perfectly as I have a great idea (at least I think it's great) but it's a little too big for me to pull off alone!

I know i don't talk as much as others and i don't know everyones name but i need some help. My grandfather had a 2nd stroke in 2 months and they aren't forcasting that his chances are all that great.

Could i ask that you send some good thoughts his way that he either isn't as serious as they say or if he is that he passes without too much pain?

Thanks in advance.
:grouphug: my thoughts are with you.

ok, you may have just talked me into a martini tasting!! no offense Karen, but I find wine to be very not good, always tastes like bad grape juice to me, maybe martinis are more my style:scratchin they're certainly classier than my usual drink of choice!!

:rotfl2:
Me with my four boys under 8...wait under 10 then! Yes, they will be older so time for me too right???? Thank goodness for Flounders for our 2 year old:cool1: But wait....that *x%&)* beeper!!!

Lisa-my hat is off to you with four boys. My TWO boys exhaust me, how do you do it?! My girlfriends all have girls and they're so quiet--they sit and do there own thing, QUIETLY!! And then here I come with two loud, busy boys!!! Anyway, your a SUPERSTAR cuz I know what boys are like!!!!!!

I think I mentioned this many post ago, but it is truly one of our favorites and we learned about from the GM and MS of wine from Napa Rose, Michael Jordan, on board the EB repo. He paired it with chocolate covered strawberries and we were hooked! I pulled it into the shop the minute I got home!!

okay, I have a cute kid story. little background-my bro and sil are so not into Disney stuff, but my mom and I have been slowly but surely indoctrinating Lily into the cult of disney.

so last Saturday we had the kid all morning. we had to go to Clear Lake, a suburb about 30 minutes from where we live, so my mom could get her nails done (I just go for the free lunch!). Lily's babbling away in the back seat, asking her 2 min. "where are we going?" finally I get exasperated and respond "where ARE we going Lily?" she thinks about it for a minute or so and pipes up with "I know, we're going to Disneyworld!!!":rotfl2:
boy was she disappointed when "DisneyWorld" consisted of nothing more than a small boring room!! I don't even know how the kid knows what WDW is!

Same story here. I have two boys and they don't do anything quietly. My best friend has these delightful, polite, quiet girls, and then there's my two. :joker: Actually, I wouldn't even know what to do with girls. I'm hopeless with the whole hair thing and I think I'd run screaming into the streets if I had to deal with the invasion of pink Barbie stuff. Give me legos anyday.
