Flying was so smart! It took us 6 1/2 hours to get to Old Greenwood in Northstar. $5K up? That is great. What is 2 1099's??

Have fun! Lisa

When you win over a certain amount, they make you give them your drivers license and social security card and issue you a 1099 on the spot to be sure the IRS knows about your ill gotten gains.

DH and GK's are gone skiing but I am slow to start today!! The weather here is glorious!!

Well, I want to share with everyone the plans I just made for my summer...
I'm going to Hawaii! :cool1: I've only been once before, about 20 yrs. ago, and I was only there for 2 1/2 days (my brother's wedding). I've always wanted to go back and I've wanted to dive there--so in May I get to do both! We'll be cruising over Memorial Day weekend (7 days).

My friend & I are going on the NCL Pride Of Aloha, which stops at Kauai, Hilo, Kona and Maui and we'll dive at each stop except Hilo. We're doing the cheapest category so the price is really reasonable, I think, for being able to island-hop, get in some dives and only have to unpack once.

BTW, I didn't know (until I looked it up on Cruise Critic) that there apparently were problems with food and service when the ship was launched in 04. It sounds like things have straightened out now, according to the article I read.

Has anyone here been on Pride Of Aloha or know anything about it?

I was on the Pride of America in November. I was not impressed. Service was poor. Food was not very good in the buffets so consequently only ate in the specialty restaurants because of quality. If you want more details, please pm me.

Just to let you know that my wife UKANGEL hasn't forgotten you all, she is rather unwell, I had to take her to hospital yesterday. She is back at home and I am sure she will get back on here as soon as she can.

Please tell her that John and I wish her a speedy recovery. We are so glad to hear she is home from hospital.

Travelzoo only offers these special rate 4-8 weeks before when they are not booked......There are always day rooms as well

I went to Travelzoo website and found that out. I don't know anything about day rooms...could you expand on this a little? Do you get them at the Atlantis and will they give you access to everything on property? Would you be able to use the room to take a shower? Is it still 4 people to a room?

Thanks for any help you can give me. princess:

I still dont have an invite to the other side, but would love it if someone would invite me.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: I think my brain isn't awake yet...when I read this, I was picturing somebody from the other repo thread saying, "Come on over to the dark side" in a creepy voice! Probably because a few posts above was the one showing how they were slightly reprimanded. :rotfl:

Ditto. We did NCL in October, 2003. Was not impressed with the freestyle dining. Everytime we went we had to wait for dinner, and I hate re-explaining everything to the servers every night. One night we went to the buffet and when my husband doesn't find something to eat then you know something is wrong. It definitely wasn't the Disney experience!

However, it is a great way to island hop. There is a great excursion on Kauai called "Tubing the Ditch". You go onto a private sugar plantation and you inner tube down the ditches through the tunnels and stuff. it was a blast. I highly recommend.

We rented rooms at Atlantis when we sailed on 1/14/07 Wonder. We kept checking for the best rates and at the last minute got a special through Travelzoo for 159 per room per night (four persons per room). Somehow we got lucky and they didnt charge any taxes or resort fees as these usually add quite a bit to the room total (others on our cruise were charged the high tax and 10 per person housekeeping fee). These rooms were nonrefundable, so if for some reason the ship didnt dock, we would have been out the money. We booked the week before sailing.

We were off the ship early and to Atlantis by about 9:30. Took taxis which cost 4 per person each way. No problems getting there or getting back. The kids loved the slides, dig, etc. Food was expensive and you cant pay cash, room charge only (we brought snacks - chips, cookies, etc. with us). We stayed until about 5 and the kids actually went to the rooms to shower and change. We were surprised, the rooms were filthy and not all I expected (dingy worn carpet, etc.).

I have read that you can now buy day passes to Atlantis for about 85 per person. However our rate worked out much better.

We would definately consider doing it again.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm afraid to wait one week before sailing to book this. The control freak in me wants to get it confirmed now. There's no sure way of knowing how booked they're going to be when I travel at the end of October. Maybe I could book now and cancel the week before and rebook if they offer a discount? Not sure if this would work.

Taxis sound good and easy to do. Room charge only for food...they force you to get a room. Good idea to bring a bag of snacks. I would want to go to the room to shower and change too. What building were you in? I keep seeing the Beach Towers as the best possible price. If their rooms are not nice, maybe I'll consider an upgrade to a different building. With 7 people on a day pass, I would spend a lot more anyway. I think they have one building with all suites for approx. $550. I'm not sure if that included the additional taxes or fees. Also, I'm not sure they would accept 7 people per room, even in a suite.

I wonder if it would be possible to book one room for 4 people and then get 3 day passes? Then we could share the room for showers. Not sure if I can get away with doing this or not. I'll have to keep researching.

Thanks for your input, it definitely helped and I'm glad you had a good time and would do it again. :rolleyes1

DH and I have gotten the material and will definately start on the fish extenders this week. The differences this time are white backs and black and red pockets. We looked for other Disney fabric but didn't find anything we liked as well so went with the same. They do not make a yellow Duck cloth, let alone a Mickey yellow so the bias tape had to be the same.

For those 18 people on our list, I will PM you as I finish yours and let you what I will need in order to get them to you.

Hope everyone has a great weekend

That's great news, thank you so much...18 to do...that's a lot of work, bless you and your husband for taking this on. Worth more than $30 to me. :thumbsup2

I'll look forward to hearing from you. :yay:

If anybody's interested in stealing 25000 from the other repo thread, they're getting really close! 24885 just a moment ago.

YAHOO!! Holly, make sure to tell CINDY!!! (that's the name of your friend who was giving you a hard time right??) Lisa

:rotfl2: That was EXACTLY my first thought when I saw that! :lmao: I planned on doing just that! She'll love me for it! :rotfl:

I would LOVE to do Hawaii, but I would only do it on Disney. I'm spoiled! Let's all put in requests that Disney add the Western ship and include Hawaii in their itinerary!!!

We know they read these boards coz they told us they do during the lecture they gave on the 11 night Southern with the President of Operations!?! was it? (can't recall exact title) for DCL, but he was high up there!

Oh my gosh! Please let us know how she's doing and let her know we're all thinking about her and praying for her! :grouphug:
