Just want everyone to know that even though I do the majority of the posting my DH Doug is very much a part of the Fish Extender business. He helps with getting material, does most of the cutting (ugh, my least favorite part), the dowel rods and hangers, the mirrors, he is the shipping department and he gives me moral support when I need it. He is really great to have around and without him this would never get done.

Carol

:grouphug: for Doug!

tell me what these are? I will also participate (since I LOVE DISers), at any cost, but do not know what it is.:confused3

Is anyone doing shirts with the Mickey Pirate logo? (I voted for this one also):woohoo: :woohoo:

ONE MORE QUESTION: anyone flying out of Philadelphia Airport for this cruise and if they are, would you PM me and maybe we could 'hook up' - My DH and I are truly nice people (right, LiserAnn?:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: ) and just want to get to know DISers as early as possible.

Lucy and Bob

You must have missed EllaEnchanted's (Deb) post a few, well now it's many, pages back. She's in Saylorsburg I think is was and suggested a precruise DISmeet. They're traveling without kids.

AND YES everyone, Lucy and Bob are SUPER nice people, some of the nicest around!

John (JB) and I will be flying in and staying at the MCO Hyatt. We usually fly seperate so I may fly in at least one or two days before and he will fly in hopefully, the night before. Onoe or both of us are up for a mimi meet in our suite.

Noel

Noel,
Have you stayed in their (Hyatt) suites before? I'd be curious what they are like. We stayed there this past January after our cruise. We ended up using Hotwire getting the rooms at $93/night. Probably will try the same thing, but need to have a back-up plan if Hotwire doesn't offer it. Normal rooms are, I think, $199. We need two rooms for our family of 6 - so sometimes a suite is a better option.

We are also trying to figure out a one-way car (van) rental for the return but it doesn't look like Enterprise is open on Sundays (they list their hours as open, but then when you try to book it on a Sunday it says it is closed). Anyone know another close car rental place to do a one-way rental (pick-up in San Pedro/drop off in SF)?
Thanks!
Lisa

We should be there from about the Tuesday, but staying in WDW. Not sure we could get out to the airport, but it would be nice.

Lisa:

Yes, we have and they are very nice with kitchen and table for 6. I don't know if we will be able to get one this time as too early too book yet. I get normal rooms there for $152 with AAA discount. Will let you know.

I rent all my cars through Hertz but may be more expensive than you are looking for. I am a Hertz Gold #1 member which means I just pick up my car. Usually one way drop off is always more expensive.

I have a few questions for all of pros.

How far is the port from the airport in CA? In terms of booking return flights if needing to fly out the same day we disembark, what kind of departure times should I be looking at?

Do you recommend purchasing DCL transfers on the west coast end of the trip or recommendations for some other form of transport are appreciated :goodvibes

Had to go find out what bunco was, never seen it here in Canada. ekk! It sounds like a lot of fun.

Just as an FYI, DH rented a Van in San Jose and returned it to Southern CA the next day (needed to bring something back for work). It was $500!!! Granted it was last minute with no codes, etc. But one way drop offs can be really expensive in CA. Unless you are planning on stopping and sightseeing on your way up the coast, it might be cheaper to fly from LAX to SFO/San Jose/Oakland and just pick up a car there for a few days.

Hi!
I'm the "Designer," mom323's daughter. If you have any questions or requests PM me. I thought this would be easier then having my mom be the go-between :) .

Thanks for posting a picture of the fish extenders. Really neat. Might try to make one -- somewhat crafty here. I knit, crochet and do cross stitch mostly. Would love to learn how to hand quilt when I have time. Do sew a little bit but not much but am willing to try esp. as I have 15 months to do it -- note to self do not try to do this in the last month!

We've done t-shirts before where someone designed the logo and then emailed the logo and you put it on the shirt using the transfers -- these have worked fine. Most commercial places will not touch a logo that has a trademarked/copyrighted figure on it like Mickey. It is great to arrive at the terminal in the t-shirts -- it's easy to spot other people and the CM's make comments too.

Thanks for the compliments on the bulletin board. I'll pass them along to Jim.

If I rent a car, I am sure we can pick you up. I will keep you posted on our plans.

Thank you. With the car rental, I'm trying to find the easiest way to get back home. Seems like it be easier to toss everything into a car and drive home. Does anyone know of a rental place open on Sundays that is close to the port? I think most of the big companies do one way drop offs right? Lisa

Airport is about 20 miles from the port. I would plan on a noon flight or later just to be sure.

I have done both. Private transfer was about $60. which is less than the DCL transfers.

Can someone post a picture of the fish extenders please???

My DH is somewhat of a computer geek and has set a board up to help with the planning of the cruise. He would love to follow the activities but doesn't have time to read 30 pages a day on this thread. It's really an extension of the disboards but it has divided things into various threads rather than one big one. It's really for those that are having trouble keeping up with this thread. Right now the board is open but it can be closed to allow the kids to post with no worries and lots of people looking after them. Let me know what you think. A link to pj's website can be added -- probably once it's been closed so that it's not public.

It's at http://www.shipofthieves.com/phpBB2/index.php

But you can go to www.shipofthieves.com and there's a link to the board and to a chat room (which is part of the software) and a link to this thread as well. It has the logo there too.

This is very cool!

BUT . . . now I have TWO places to keep up with this group - OY!

All registered and bookmarked!

For the 6 of us to fly, transports to the airport and all, it will probably be close to the same cost - just not sure what would be easier. Seems like driving might be. But thanks for the warnings on the cost. Maybe if I start to plan now I can get a better deal!

Unfortunately to do an e-bay business I would have to give up cruising. By the time it is out on my cruise thread that I make them I don't have time to make any others. :lmao: :rotfl:

Carol

You could write the instructions up along with a simple diagram and sell it as a downloadable product - I have done this on my Christmas Organizing site and it works great - I would be glad to guide you through it if you wanted - you could sell the patterns for like $5 for those of us who can sew/craft and it is all automatic once you put the correct things in place - payment via PayPal and everything.
