I got back the final quote....:cool1:
$396.00 plus tip from MCO to port (this includes a luggage van)

$453.00 plus tip from typical WDW resort.

They have 2 hummers in their fleet. I can reserve them now. Since there seems to be a large interest in getting to the port this way, please PM if you are interested, from where and how many in your party. Let's see what the numbers look like and we can go from there...

From the posts, and I realize none of this is set in stone....it looks like these are the ones who might be interested....and if I missed you, I am sorry:guilty: it is hard to catch everything in all these posts, but please PM me

from MCO (if do red eye or stay at Hyatt)
Fourmcds x4
Birkner x2
LiserAnnx4
Mexican Mousketeers x3
UKAngel x2
Also, and maybe from WDW
Granmaz
Clynne
Kymma
not sure how many in those groups.

Of course the question for some of you traveling without kids...would you mind kids in the Hummer with you or do we want to try and split into family one and adult one?
If there are enough people that def. want in, I have no problem reserving it now. It takes a cc number to hold the reservation, but you can cancel up to 1 week before. I would think if we set up a 9 or 10 am departure from MCO that would allow most red eyes to arrive and those sleeping there to get up and still get us to the port early. :cheer2:

Thoughts?

here is the description from the website:
Ride the longest H2 HUMMERZINE in Orlando. . The new H2 HUMMER is an exhilarating, uncompromising SUV limo unlike any other. This exotic HUMMERZINE offers, 6 flat screen tv's, 4 sub-woofers, wood flooring, DVD, 3 a/c units,2 lasers, strobe lights & much more. Reserve the HUMMERZINE today & see why this exotic is the favorite of local celeberties. Please look below for rates.
It also says somewhere something about a dance floor!

And...has anyone used Happy Limo? The website says they are listed in the Passporter.

Thank you for putting us in the list. Dh and I were talking and we are definetly staying at the Hyatt MCO the night before. I don´t know if they carry kids boosters or not, but we will be carrying our ride safer vest for dd, so there is no need to reserve a booster for her.

Someone mentioned a grocery stop, is it possible? We are interested even if it is not possible, but would like to know, you know how important is to know 14 months in advance whether we will need to buy water off the internet or not, LOL

We will probably be staying at WDW on Friday night, and usually rent a car at MCO and drive to the port. I've typically used Budget and am used to their setup.

It gives us a lot of flexibility, and we can get to the port as early as we want.

One year we did do a limo because I had a large group of family - well it was really a big van. We did Happy Limo, and they were fine, except that our driver, Fabio, almost fell asleep on the way to the port! I was riding shotgun, and kept trying to make conversation so that he would not nod off and send us into the ditch!

BTW - don't know if I mentioned, we will be at Disney's Vero Beach and Beach Club Villas from March 23 - April 1 if any of you will be visiting the World at that time. We do intend to get together with Vanessa and some friends from home who will also be there for our Spring Break.

we are certainly working on getting her to speak spanish

Well, she and dd can give it a try on the ride to the port :thumbsup2

We took our first "kidless" vacation 3 weeks ago to Zihuatenejo, mexico for 7 days!:cloud9: It was amazing. I cannot believe I waited so long. Of course it was hard leaving the kids, but we all survived and we have our next trip planned to go back there next march with some friends. :cheer2:

Where in Zihuatanejo did you stay? I used to go there when I was a teenager with Estrella´s godparents and a lot of relatives on my mother´s side, we had a blast!

Definetly sea is a lot better in Zihuatanejo than it is in Ixtapa, I think the only flag they have ever used there is the black one, those waves are dangerous!

Hi kids! All caught up on posts.

Don't know why, but I sure had the blues today. :confused3 Since I was late for work anyway due to the dr. appointment (all is well in that department), I just worked 4 hours and took a half day off. It was nice driving home in the SUN for a change. Stopped at Peg's house and sat on her porch in the sunshine with a puppy dog in my lap and started to feel much better. PUPPY POWER :dog: It works every time! Then, of course I came home to my :cat: who is now curled up beside me while I DIS. Now I'm going to grab my book, make some hot tea and steal a few Girl Scout Thin Mints out of the freezer. Oh, then maybe that should be hot chocolate instead of tea.......don't cha think?

GIVE NOTHING BACK!

I LIKE the way you think! When we get close to 10,000 - or whatever, let's go post over on their thread and let them know so they can come over!

And, if one of us is online and notices they are near a pirate: , we can alert our thread, and we can go over and try to steal it!

Oooohhh I love this idea! :thumbsup2

And they reach so many milestones that we will have lot of fun trying to steal them :goodvibes

That's exactly what I finally learned when I went on the cruise with Cindy in January. It was strange, but really relaxing to have the opportunity to try to remember how to be me again instead of mom for a short time. A co-worker once told me that her daughter's pediatrician told her the best thing a parent can do for their kid(s) is to take a break once in a while and just be an adult for a bit and then come back refreshed and ready to be a good parent! :thumbsup2

You will definetly have a great time, and it WILL be a relaxing vacation without the OC beeper!

I've had the blahs here too Jackie, but with all the gray sky, cold weather, and now rain melting most of the snow and turning a lot of it to dirty mush - that may be part of the reason.

I am also trying to self-motivate to kick it into gear on weight loss and exercise. Great once you have it going, but getting it started is a real trial.

Julie,

I enjoy reading your posts too. How I wish I would have learned Spanish in High School. I took French, and it is but a memory now, but I am confident that if I get to France again (went when I was in High School) that I could gain a lot back quickly.

I learned Greek as my first language - Mom immigrated from Greece and dad was Greek. With mom gone now, even my Greek is getting a bit rusty. They dont speak Greek much in this part of the world!:rotfl2:

Are any of you big readers?

I enjoyed Dan Brown's books for fun reading, and found another author in a similar vein - Steven Berry. I am now reading "The Alexandria Link". Fun reading. This is the last of his books - I've read the other three in the last several weeks.

It has been non-stop rain here all day! The snow is almost all gone.

It must have been interesting to learn Greek as your first language, I am sorry about your mom. Now you DO have to go to Greece to at least practice it a little, definetly DCL needs to do a cruise through the Greek Islands.

I love to read, sadly my favorite are romance novels (aka trash, lol), I have read all of Danielle Steel (began when I was a teen but have bought almost every new book against my better judgment), Jude Deveraux, Belva Plain, Elizabeth Adler, Lucy Maud Montgomery (I love Anne Shirley, yes, I am a complete nerd, lol), Janet Evanovich (Stephanie Plum cracs me up), and whatever else that falls in my hands. I will definetly go to the Cove Cafe to look for what everyone has left in previous cruises, because I am not planning to carry a whole library, lol.

When is does the last snow usually fall where you live? I loved the picture of your house in the snow.

Glad everything went well at the doctor´s?

John, I am reading The Path Between the Seas, listening to the Harry Potter series on my ipod. Just picked up Heat, a book about the life in restaurant kitchens. Also, enjoy Dan Brown and Robert Ludlum and for serious fluff, a romance or two.

Amy (DW) reads all the Janet Evanovich novels - she loves mysteries, and reads a lot of those too (murder she wrote, etc) AND her fair share of trashy stuff from time to time.

The snow is unpredictible! Last year we got a major snow storm on palm sunday - usually mid-March is the last of it, but we have seen storms in April too. The house looks not nearly so nice now with all the yucky melting snow.

And Yes, I do need to get to Greece. Hopefully sometime soon. I was sooooo hoping that the DCL Med cruises would go to Greece, but no such luck. I would have probably gone if they had.

Night all - I need to get some sleep and it is 11:00!

PJ, I think you would like Steven Berry. Very Dan Brown like - historical references, biblical references, etc. . .

Another book a bit like that I enjoyed was "The Historian".

I used to read a LOT of science fiction, but not as much any more . . .

I also just finished listening to "I Woz" Steve Wozniak (of Apple Fame) biography on my iPod.

Now dragging myself to bed . . .

Hey, I got a little pirate: there at 6800 and didn't even notice . . .

Could I be cured of the pirate: OCD complex????:lmao: :rotfl2:

We stayed at a small hotel called Villa Carolina Hotel. It is about 1/2 block from Hotel Villa Del Sol which is right on Playa La Ropa. The hotel was fabulous, only 7 villas, all with kitchens and ours had a private pool in our open air living room! :beach: We never made it to Ixtapa, never felt the need for a more "touristy" area. I was kind of sad the DCL wasn't going to Zih for a port since I loved the area so much.

!

Books....popcorn:: I love to read(maybe why the DIS has been so fun for me :) ). My big problem, once I start a book I have been known to finish it the same day. Harry Potter...each time a new one comes out, I head to the local bookstore party at midnight, get the book and it is done by the next day. Then I am sad:sad2: waiting for the next one and wondering why I read it so quickly. Janet Evanovich...love all of her series. Just finished Metro Girl and am almost done with Plum Lovin' (her newest Stephanie book). I was excited to read about the library idea at cove cafe so I won't have to pack 10 books to bring with me :lmao: I really enjoyed Dan Brown's books too, and I have heard that Heat is a fabulous book, but I haven't read it yet. I would say I read 90% "chick lit" and 10% other stuff. I am always looking for new great authors or books though....

I agree!!! Just finished the Alexandria Link by Berry and very good book. Also, don't forget about alternate history books, sci-fi where vampires and witches are real and do exist!!!

I am a huge fan of Elizabeth Peters (AKA Barbara Mertz) mystery stories. Even DH loves to hear Barbara Rosenblatt narrate them on tape.

Ayelet Waldman is great too! She has a series called the "Mommy-Track Mysteries" where the character is a former lawyer who is now a stay-at-home mom solving murders on the side. Mystery with humor, sort of like Stephanie Plum, but nowhere as funny. I just enjoy the books because she's a mess most of the time: answers her front door with cheerios in her hair, spit-up stains on her shirt, etc. Her husband tries to be a writer and isn't too thrilled with her "detective" work. I think there are 6 or 7 books in the series so far. Check her out at www.ayeletwaldman.com. Any mom would love her because you find yourself saying, "Yup, I know what that's like" often while reading her books and laughing because you've been through something she's complaining about. :thumbsup2

Well, it's actually today (3/1) that I planned on going after work to sign up. Not going to work today because Tyler has strep throat, but I'll be going after he goes to his dad's house when his dad gets out of work. I'm anxious to hear what they can tell me and hoping they will inspire me and make me feel encouraged! :thumbsup2

Our DD has been home sick the last 2 days with possible strep throat. Always throws my sork off too, but she does come first. My DSis helps out and will have her over even when she is sick as she has her own room at my DSis' house and can rest in there. I'm so lucky to have my DSis so close by, really is helpful since we don't have any other family around, (or still living in the case of our parents. :sad2:
