There are some really cute ones there. Lucky for my wallet I am not near any of those stores, but I did see you could buy them from Saks on line

OR . . . . .

You could just have them shipped from one of the aforementioned Nordstrom!

Only two department stores left I shop. If Macy's buy either one or both, I am out of options.

Nordstrom will NEVER be bought by Federated. Different class of retailer. You will be amazed at what is in the works over the next 8 years.

That is very true...need my checkbook to catch up with this cruise first :rotfl2:

By the way, sounds like you have some inside information.........:confused3 any other hints?! :)

Whew! Finally caught up!

We will be at an Oscar party tonight in full dress up, pull out the tux and sequins mode!

They have a full home theatre with all of the surround sound, vibrating chairs, big humongous screen stuff! My DH is living vivaciously :rotfl2: though them!

We are bringing the lobster tales and our close friends are bringing the filet roast! Of course, we are also bringing wine! :dance3:

Should be fun! I'll report later!

Karen

Our appetizers were Sesame crusted Ahi tuna seared rare, pate and brie en croute and several other wonderful items!! A lovely evening, I must say...

Karen

I've been off the boards for a couple of days because I had a big Oscar party at my house last night. It's become an annual event with my friends and keeps growing. I had so much fun getting ready for it--now that I'm not working I can fritter away hours doing these little crafty things. :artist: I don't have a big screen TV or even that large of a house, everyone dresses causually and the food is a potluck, but I do have a 25' red carpet! The food was great, but there was only one problem--out of 20 people, only one person brought dessert and that was one half-gallon of ice cream! Maybe we're all taking this eating healthier thing a little too seriously!:scared:

I want to know how you get out of Costco on $100.....we call it the :scared1: $300 store :scared1: at our house.... :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Since there's been a Costco less than 1/4 mi. from my house I can, on occasion, get out of there for $10-20, but I can stop there any time I want so I think I buy small quanties, just more often!

Did you enter this? It sounds too good to be true....I never enter these kinds of things....but they are going to use it for marketing for DCL and Disney Destinations....I already get all that stuff now.......

What do you guys think??
I entered--I can dream!! The closest I ever came to something like that was when my dive buddy won a week-long trip on a live-aboard dive boat to Belize. It was a trip for 1, so I paid full price and accompanied her!

liked Cameron Diaz's hair, but not the dress...

That's so funny! I thought her hair looked like mine did after a 10 hr. van ride from Belize City to Tikal, mostly on dirt roads. I never felt so filthy in my whole life and my hair looked and felt like a haystack!

Here's my stupid question for the day. Is there a reason why there are so many pockets on the Fish Extender? Is there supposed to be one pocket for everyone in the cabin?

I was going to make my own but didn't want to appear greedy by having too many pockets on my Fish Extender!
----
Terri

Thanks for asking that question Terri. I've been wondering the same thing! Since I'm traveling solo, do I need all those little pockets? I thought maybe I'd go with one JUMBO pocket--I could call it a whale extender

Okay, so far I have 22 people signed up for the Southern Cal DISmeet on 5/20:

  • LiserAnn - 4
    clynne - 4
    ibouncetoo - 1
    NotSoLittleMermaid - 1
    MrsMork and DrHug - 5
    Ssnyder - 2
    firsttimecruiser - 3
    birkner - 2

I can hardly wait to meet everyone! On Wed. I'm going to have dinner w/ibouncetoo and her sister--too fun!:goodvibes

Karen:
Here is a picture we took with on the last cruise with the Nikon D2X underwater with an Ewa housing. What do you think?

underwater.jpg

Beautiful picture! I have a small Olympus w/underwater housing that I haven't used yet. I'm looking forward to trying it out in Hawaii. The only UW pix I've taken to date were w/the disposable cameras. I'd say about 1 shot out of 10 was a keeper. At least w/digital I won't be wasting all that film and paper on bad prints!

Sad but true. :lmao: He saw the Mickey hands the cast mebers wear and he had to have a pair. His first day back to work after the cruise I worn them and waved to him from the driveway. I thought he would drive through the neighbor's yard, he was laughing so hard.

I LOVE those Mickey hands but never could justify buying them. Now I have a good excuse!

To my fish mail teammates: I've read your PMs but haven't had a chance to respond. I'm excited to be working with you and will write you tomorrow.

:goodvibes

I know that the chemo puts you into a chemically induced menopause, on top of everything else you go thru. Some women recover and eventually get their cycles back and some do not. My surgeon had brain cancer and went thru chemo and was told she would never have any more children, and 18 or 24 months later she was pregnant with her second son...I think you need to remind her that whether or not she can have other children is not nearly as important right now as making sure she is there to see the one that she has grow up and make her a grandma!!! I was older and never did and went thru menopause symptoms after chemo finished...I was probably going thru it during chemo but was too sick to notice...

Thank you so much. Your words are very good advice. I just got came back from the hospital - my friend is feeling like she wants to push off chemo to harvest eggs. Her sister and I are at my house now (she is spending the night). I called my cousin who is an oncologist and he said exactly what you said -she needs to focus on the big picture at this time and the big fight of working towards a cure, not focusing on fertility at this point I know it is easier said than done. It is b something cell NHL, which is very aggressive but very treatable - if treatment starts. So her sister and I are hoping that tomorrow we can convince her to start treatment as opposed to waiting to harvest eggs. It sure is hard. I'm going to bed now but will catch up on posts later. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. :grouphug: If you have PM about the fish mail, don't worry! I will get to it soon.
Thanks, Lisa

Gotta love that reasoning!!!!;):rotfl:
(mental note: go to Nordstrom on our next trip!)

this sounds like such fun, wish we could have done that too!

:rotfl2: another addict here Lisa.........do you think 7 pairs of flip flops (all different colours of course) is over the top?

Ok - I'm not going to bed. Having too much fun catching up! 7 pairs of flip flops sounds very reasonable, if it was a 7 day cruise. We have 15 DAYS!! You need some more! Lisa

:rotfl2: Well, at least I know what Manolo Blaniks are from watching S _ _ and the City! :rotfl:

I LOVED that show! Did you see the Devil Wears Prada? So funny - I thought of it b/c of all the fashion. (which now I know you just adore!). Actually, it is insane what people (who me:rolleyes1 ) do for shoes. I went to the Chanel store in SF and just had to buy (something/someone came over me) a pair of gorgeous black shoes. My kids had to eat mac and cheese for weeks! Who said life was easy? They need to know how to sacrafice.:rotfl: The good thing about having all boys (at least for now!) is that all the Nordie budget is for me! :cool1:

Lisa,

Our neighbor was diagnosed about 6 years ago with NHL. He went through chemo and a bone marrow transplant. Unfortunately it reoccurred this past year, but the good news is, treatments have changed. He just finished chemo again and another bone marrow and his prognosis is good.

Keeping your friend, Michelle in our prayers.

Corrine

Thank you. She did a bone marrow test today (I know different than transplant, just mentioning it) - should get the results tomorrow. Lisa

Lisa,

I know that you are getting tons of advice and input, and you have probably gone to bed, but...

I had severe endometriosis, very different from cancer and chemo, but I was told that I would need to have an endometrial ablation and that it would be equivelent to sterility. Since my life had been put on hold because of the illness, I opted to have the surgery and put my trust in God that this was the right thing to do and to get my life on track. I was 32. The original physician wanted me to have a hysterectomy, so this option was less invasive and I was able to keep my ovaries.

The surgery was a success and my not-quite-husband and I decided that if we wanted kids we would adopt. But fate had something else in mind, and 6 months later I was pregnant with my one in a billion (yes, billion according to the doctor) child. They weren't sure if I would be able to go to term because the egg did not have anything to grow in, but she built her own lining as she went. Somethings are just meant to be!princess:

I often tell friends that are trying and are paying tons of money on "science" to trust in their faith and adopt a child. They will probably end up pregnant when they relax and aren't trying. Just my own opinion, I tend to be a bit opinionated, in case you haven't noticed. I appologize in advance if I have offended anyone! ;)

Karen

Thanks - I haven't read and caught up since after the Oscars but wanted to post real quick to see if anyone has heard of a treatment called R-CHOP. It is a mix of chemo. I just got back from visiting my friend. She was somewhat hysterical as the doctor just told her she couldn't have any more children after the chemo treatments. I have known people who have had cancer and were still able to have children, so not sure if it is specific to this treatment? I'm a nurse, so they all look at me for answers (which I don't have). I have an email out to my baby cousin who is no longer a baby but an a MD oncologist. But not sure I will be able to touch base with him before seeing her again tonight.

Any feedback on that treatment would be appreciated.

Now, back to the cruise fun talk please!! Lisa

I know there has been posts after this, but just want to say you are all still in my thoughts and prayers

That's how I usually feel from midnight till around 1:00 amish when you wonderful UKers awaken! The last few days were so action packed that I went to bed a bit earlier than usual. I'll try to be up to say good morning today (I mean tonight, er tomorrow... )

Karen

Good morning Karen and anyone else still awake this late.

I tried to blot those out of my memory. :scared1:
They made great confetti though.

Somebody used tons of this on us after our wedding. It went everywhere and got inside my bra and all the nooks and crannies my MIL's car we had borrowed. I don't think we ever managed to get rid of it all.

Good morning, Marilyn!

The DIS will go down any minute but wanted to say hello.

I hear that bird seed gets everywhere too and is also very uncomfortable!!:rotfl:

Karen

Sorry Karen, seems you have gone whilst the Dis was down. Just missed you.

Traditionally it is rice that is thrown of course - even worse!!!!

Hi all!:)

Just trying to get a post in before I go off for a swim! I'm really trying to get fitter for my cruise this May (let alone next year's one);)

I'm sure someobody posted that there was forum for us where they were posting about weight loss???

We really need it though!

Wet today!!! We had a lovely day yesterday, almost felt Spring like, but now it is miserable for the rest of the week!! This time last year and the year before we were in Orlando!!!! Wish I was there now.

Passed my love of shoes and shopping on to my DD as well! She has just hit about a 7 1/2 and I hope she stops there! That's a great shoe size, more shoes in 7 1/2 and 8's. :woohoo:

Poor DH just rolls his eyes when we start talking about shopping. He likes shopping when, say, a 60 inch plasma is involved, but other than that...:rolleyes1

Karen

Ok, I've got the "nods" so I'm heading to bed.

I have a funny story about "the Nods"... we were at Goofy's Kitchen at the Disneyland hotel and there were characters coming by all evening. Our DD and their 2 DD's were so excited and were at the perfect age for the autograph books, etc. Their youngest DD was probably 3 at the time and started to "nod off" at the table, so I said, "uh oh, here come the nods". She immediately woke up, looked around and said "where? Where are the nods?":cutie:

So cute!! I really miss them being so little and innocent...princess:

Have a great day in the UK... Definitely time to go to bed now, I'm rhyming!!:rotfl:

Karen

:yay: I have just watched most of the DCL DVD that someone kindly sent for me to see.:yay:

It is fab!! Just one thing, I see no overweight people at all on that cruise! Got some serious work to do.

Ok, I know it was a promotional DVD but just one large person would have been nice.:rotfl:
