I know someone that sold their $500,000 house here which is a small house around here and moved to Alabama and bought a 4000 sq ft house with a pool that is on a lake and paid like $80,000 for it. But you know what, I can walk everywhere and they have a little drive to get to a grocery.

Wow! But I agree.....I'd love to be able to walk everywhere. Very nice!

Um. nope. I've been packing for US for 41 years. It works in our world. Although I do have to admit that the last couple of trips DrHug has done some of his packing himself. He did all his packing for a trip to my niece's in Washington State.....we made a trip to Walmart for some jeans and underwear!

Thanks everybody for keeping me sane last night. I stayed at the hospital till 3:30am while my DH slept at home. He got up and we switched at 3:30am. I came home and slept.

I would have kept reading but my eyes started burning and that blackberry screen gets really little.

The hospital is the largest tramua center in the DC area. I was there from 8pm till 3:30am and I counted 12 helicopters landing with trauma patients. Right next to Frank was a police office (female) keeping a prisoner under control and he gave her a really hard time. She was TOUGH!! I laughed and said to her..."Boy, are you going to be a great mom!" She did not take any crap at all from that guy. She had a taser pointed at him all the time. It was a little scary.

The was a girl that came in in labor...she was about 16 years old and she was screaming her lungs out. I felt so sorry for her. They kept asking her if her water had broken and all she could say was there is so much blood...of course the wisked her off. All I could think of if she could have seen this night 9 months ago.......oh well.

Frank is okay....right now......I am starting to think he will never get better.

I'm very, very, very lucky to have a low house payment and no car payment (I paid in full at time of purchase). That makes a huge difference. That helped make a nice savings account to have for unexpected events (which occurred & sucked that all up......good thing it was there though).

But I'm right there with you Steph, I definitely wouldn't move away from sun and into the snow.....YUCKY! Definitely not loving winters.

OMG..paid in full at time of purchase. I wish! I have a small house here I purchased a long time ago...and luckily it's increased in value, but I would never been able to pay in full. I doubt even if I lived in your neck of the woods I would have been able to pay outright. No wonder it's ok to have a lower income comparitively. My sis and her husband moved to texas, paid for their house in full from the sale of their house here and still make MORE than they made in california...they are living the life...Thats what I'd want to do, if I wanted to leave cali...but I am born and raised here...can't leave too attached.

They put out a schedule just like the movie theater, but the trick is to see the movie w/o interfering with sun time, drink time, game time etc...

and Ian you gotta realize....DH is the guy who can't find the gallon of milk on the top shelf in the fridge when it's right up front so if he had to pack it would be "V, where's my flip flops, where's my bathing suit?".

Oh my gosh I can hear that now - where's my sneakers, phone charger, etc....
