I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

This was my ‘one and done’ in Zambia. It was absolutely terrifying (the walk to get to Angels chair and back) and I will never, ever do it again. Just watching my dd come back alone (she wanted to stay and do some crazy pics) still sends shivers done my spine. I can’t even describe how terrified I was when she was walking back. There was a retired firefighter in our group and I was holding his arm so tightly watching her come back that I probably left bruises. And the water was frigid, which didn’t help.

Today i received approval for my vacation time for next year, so I am officially starting to plan my Africa trip for next year's great migration season. I plan on doing a safari and the gorilla trek. This is my #1 bucket list trip! I am considering the JW Marriott but would most likely only have enough pts for 2 nts max. Not sure I can stomach the cash rate for additional nts, but haven't ruled it out yet either. Going to look around for other options in Kenya and Tanzania, including Mapito. My sis and BIL leave in a couple of weeks for the Serengeti, so I also look forward to hearing about their experience.

If anyone has recommendations for gorilla trekking, please share.

I have not researched any of the other Serve like cards, the 3 family dollars were so convenient, the Walmart by me is not and the times I have gone there is very chaotic……
haven’t had the time to see how any of the other cards work yet…DHs company was bought in April and since they they have been laying off people, he was laid off last week so I’ve gone down the rabbit hole looking into Medicare 🤪
I'm sorry to hear about your husband's layoff. DH and I are in jobs that are pretty secure, at least for the moment, but my young adult kids are just starting jobs that are probably not. I try not to think about the course of their careers if they get knocked off track at this stage.

Ok- question -Cap1 portal car rental question- I got a conf code- it doesn't work on the Hertz/Thrifty website- what should I do? Call the portal,or the car location to check? ALSO.... :rolleyes1 (this is a big oops) I booked it using points from my cc, for my ds. I input his name etc as the driver but JUST remembered now that they may not let him pick it up unless he has my cc at counter? Please advise! (my life has been INSANELY busy this summer, that's my excuse for zoning on this one:bitelip:)
Replying to myself to clarify/DP.... I called cap1 travel portal- they have all the rental info correct. (paid with points 100%) I called the 800 car rental #,they also have the booking. Rep couldn't tell me what cc (if any) is on the booking since it's 3rd party, however she did say that the original cc used to book car was needed at counter...... Someone help me figure out how to do this please? I can always drive to airport to meet my ds (rental is booked in his name) and show my cc....or would it be sufficient to have him show my cc at counter? (obv not his name on cc tho we share a last name) OR will a cc even show on booking from 3rd party on points? HELPPPPP

Thanks…it’s crazy how quickly things can change, he was there 25 years job was secure until the founder retired and let his son run the company. Son decided to cash out and sell it.
I think my daughters job is pretty secure since she works in regulatory and the FDA, but My sons is definitely not with AI

I haven’t booked with points, but once booked a rental under DHs name with my card on file. At the Avis rental counter they would not let him give my card, but did let him switch to one of his. Not sure if this is YMMV depending on the agent or not

I can relate to the sudden loss of security! Until the summer, I worked for a research center that has existed since 1915. It was the oldest of its kind in the country. All our federal grants were cancelled and we were indirectly barred from getting private grants. People in my field could never have fathomed it not existing but here we are... it's crazy how quickly things can change for sure.

I’m so sorry that really stinks

In the next few years many will lose jobs because of AI, but some will get them back after they realize that AI can’t do them well.

My husband is a Senior VP in charge of AI, and he’s worked with machine learning for many years so he knows what can and can’t be done. He has put the brakes on many projects the C suite wants to do because it just won’t work with AI. But many (most?) companies don’t have that. They just have yes men that want to jump on the AI bandwagon. He sees that a lot.
