But I don't think I could live on under 450 per week no matter where. I mean do cars cost so much less...What about daycare? I know people that move out here from the midwest and they are shocked by the housing prices, but they have said everything else is very similiar...even dinner out/groceries...I was just adding up...theres no way...i guess I'll stay in cali....I like sun too!:thumbsup2

$450 a week OMG Steph I spend more then that a week on my kids when you factor in school items needed, tutoring for J, pre school for D, any childcare for a night out here and there, J and D's part of the country club membership, tennis lessons, swimming, allowance for J, J's hair appointments, and shopping. I say I spend about $500 a month on clothes for my two, most of that goes to J since Dom is just 4 years old.Plus going to the movies and eating out. Plus gifts for other kids bdays and parties. Oh and summer time it is worse, all the day camps and lessons to entertain them really add up. Don't forget Disneyland, Sea World, the Wild Animal Park, Discovery Kingdom and the Zoo memberships they maintain. Also they each get direct payments in to their savings accounts each month to the tune of $500. I would say I can directly attribute about $2000 a month maybe a little more around the holidays in bills to my two little munchkins. These are costs that are the same though I think in any state. All the above costs I pay BUT I do remember back when I was younger no way I could have afforded everything so I did not do everything. As parents we can only do so much and everyone has a limit. My kids have realistic expectations and I never promised them the moon and then stressed about not being able to give it to them. As I have made more money they have been given more.

Bottom line kids are DAMN EXPENSIVE!

As far as me LIVING on $450 a week total no way in the world I could do that and no way I would spend two months salary of that to go on a cruise. Hell I know people who spend $450 a month on Gas for their cars.

You know, when I go to Michigan to visit my Mom and sisters, I go to the casinos and oddly enough . . . I lose just as much and just as fast as I do in CA!!!
I'm going this weekend, leaving the bright sunny warm weather of CA to the cold snowy weather in the UP!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Hello! Back from a busy five days (easter, family visits, etc.) and I've given up all hope of catching up...shoot, this thread is half done and I'm not even sure I posted on this one!!! HAHA. It really stinks when life gets in the way of DISing! I'm happy to report I am now in week 3 of my fitness boot camp and while it's kicking my rump, I must say I really like it! My clothes are fitting better...life is good!

Nice to hear from you, I was getting worried! Glad to hear your clothes fit better. I think I've gained back most of the 15 pounds that I lost. I'm afraid to get on the scale because we are going away for a four day weekend and I don't want to think about it!

No tickets - but I have been stopped once. It was quite the experience.

Driving home from work I was sitting at a red light - first car. The light turned and next thing I know a cop car has pulled out from behind other cars and drove over a median strip with lights flashing I pulled over figuring he'd keep right on going past me. Nope - he pulls over behind, opens his door and aims a gun at my car :scared1: and starts yelling for me to put my hands out the window. My best friend was in the car behind me - she pulled into a parking lot and called her father from a payphone (he happened at the time to be chief of police in the town I lived in :thumbsup2 ).

Several more police cars pull up and surround my car while the first cop comes and opens the door for me to get out. By now the police are calming down - turns out there was a purse snatching about an hour earlier committed by a guy in older camaro in good condition. I actually stated laughing when they got to that part of the description. My camaro was a 73 (this was 87) with one fender in a different color, gouges down the passenger side and no grill - hardly good condition.

They apologized and let me go, we laugh about it now but it was a pretty scary few minutes.

OMG I would have passed out! That is crazy. :scared1:

Here are some door signs I have

Not a door sign but I love this. I didn't make it.

Those are super! :thumbsup2

I can certainly understand how frustrated you might be feeling, but I encourage you to be kind to yourself too.

Think about how many people care about you, hold you in esteem and value you. Do you think they're all wrong?

Positive self-talk is extremely important. It helps motivate us.

I always tell members to think about doing a task, or meeting a past life challenge ... did it happen because someone was standing there saying to you "Come on! I know you can fail! Reach deep down inside and get in touch with the failure that you truly are!"

No, I think we respond much better to positive encouragement.

I don't think that any of us would dare to talk to other people, the way we allow that inner voice to talk to ourselves.

The great thing about time is that with the movement of the second hand, every moment we get a new moment and a new opportunity to change.
.

Wonderful advice and how true we would never talk to others as we think about ourselves. :flower3:

We are unable to go to the Cayman Islands today because of rough seas, the laundry room on the 2nd floor is closed do to leaking from rough seas. Our friends are unable to get to their room due to leaks from the ceiling in the main hall way to their room, they must take a detour. The weather is over cast and 77 degrees. We have an extra sea day do to missing the cayman islands. Cozemul is going to be 83 and beautiful tommorrow tho.

She says things are better now! Thank goodness!

Did everyone hear that Delta is now imposing a $25 charge on the 2nd piece of luggage that is checked?

Hey why aren't the bananas moving?

hmm, I wonder why Frontier has been giving me the runaround? I could book on Contintental for over $300 cheaper and the flight time is around the same as what Frontier changed to.

Ian - thanks for the wise words. I have posted before, I am a Lifetime WW member so I know I can do it, I just can't get motivated. In my mind, I am a hot looking chica - trouble is those dressing room mirrors! I was always thin especially in college...I started gaining weight when John proposed! Stress makes me eat. In a way I guess I have been stressed for this trip with the planning the finances etc....it doesn't help that my dad is an ironman and lives for fitness and healthy eating. I need to pull myself out of the funk and concentrate on me!

I so understand how you feel and I know as a mom and a good mom that you are in a position like I am. We have a list of things and people we take care of and being a good mom usually means we are dang near close to the bottom of that list. Not that it should be that way but just how it seems to end up.

OMG my room is on the 2nd floor and I hope they plug all the leaks before I get there!! I really hope we do not encounter rough seas on our cruise. :scared1: I feel so bad for those people.

Nope...no food going out either At lease that's what they say, but I know people take home rum cakes and such. I wonder if they take it from the ship in carryons and then put it in their luggage after? Anybody know?
This is going to be a problem for those who are utilizing the luggage service disney provides to the airport.

Perhaps I was premature in my earlier response then. It would be fun if the person furthest away got their docs first - which would presumably be our Australian shipmates?

That would be funny!!!! On our last cruise, we got nothing sent, as everything was waiting at the dock for us....our TA says that they send them too close for us to receive them before we leave...

BTW.....One month today, and we are on our way!!!!

SECOND piece? Oh my that is crazy! So people going on long trips are supposed to pack only one bag? Suppose there is nothing to do but pay it but still crazy!
