I think I finally caught up on the last day or two, of course I still missed a few hundred pages of this thread.

Someone is going to have to teach this computer illiterate person how to make some door signs.

I think all the door signs are very cute. It is one of those items that I know I would not have the time to make. Even if someone made the graphic for the boys and I, I still have to find the actual magnet to apply it to. I am finding it harder to keep up with all the things going on as I prepare for this trip and keep up with the day to day.

Thanks to all the team leaders and members of the lanyard team and the bracelet team. So many people have worked hard to arrange a wonderful cruise. :thumbsup2 I don't know how everyone finds time to do so much, and-especially!!-keep up with the discussions. :confused3 I'm not ashamed to admit that I can't keep up on the boards. By the time I find something I can respond to, 50 people have already beat me to it.:worship: :worship: However, I'm very good at talking in person :goodvibes so maybe there is hope for me. Thanks again..Vicki

My thanks to all the teams too and Vicki, I too am waaay behind.

My boys insisted on taking the bus this time. We rented a car last time because it was cheaper, but the boys missed the Disney bus, so we switched back this time. And the luggage transfer is a definite plus.

We are on the bus on Sat morning too. I leave LA at 22:45 Friday night and arrive at MCO at 0600 Sat morning. Look for the guy with toothpicks holding his eyes open and that will be me!

Well we can't have that!!
I know you didn't ask for one but here it is anyhow. Use if you choose to. Otherwise no worries.

If anyone else wants one, or if I missed you (ooops sorry but this thread does move quickly) please let me know. I am going to be away from home Tues & Wed, but will be returning on Thurs night (only to leave again on Fri night, Sat and home on Sun). So time will be limited this week, but honestly it doesn't take long to put these together. The longest part is actually posting to this thread!

Ken you are doing fantastic job with these door signs!

Every year we go to see the floats on 12/31, it is so much fun, but not as much fun as watching the Cal Poly float in a mad dash panic to finish on time:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: They always finish and always turn out the most spectacular float of the year!:thumbsup2

For the 6 self-built floats, the night before the parade is always crazy. In Burbank, we have to be done by 8pm so we can convoy the float to the start line. The actual final judging takes place in the on morning of the day before the parade, so all the final actions are for the TV cameras. Lots of pride and hard work goes into each of the self-built floats

Ken that's GREAT!!!!

Now I may know where my room is...

If they ever give me a room...;)

Thanks!!! :goodvibes

Rooms? Rooms? We don't need no stinking rooms! It's the lifeboats for us! Just look for the FE on the side of mine!

Hello Everyone! Dh and I couldn't remember if DCL sold Tortuga Rum Cakes onboard. :confused3 Does anyone know? We are now getting requests from others to return with certain items or else. pirate:

Yes, they were in the shop on the TA last year. Very tastey, but not cheep.

send that cleaning fairy here, you KNOW I could use her :scared1:

I know I could too! Please send her/him my way when they are done at your place!

West costers are crazy. We only need 6 hours sleep:confused3

Sleep? What is that? And you can get 6hrs? I am usually running on 4 or 5hrs! Gee, isn't Army traning useful for teaching you how to do more on less sleep!

We don't arrive until about 11PM. We're flying on American and there are only about 4 or 5 flights a day out of ORD for MCO. We're on a 7 PM flight. As it is we'll have to leave the house by 4PM.

I wish we could leave earlier, but the flight before that would probably mean I would have to take yet another vacation day, which I don't want to do.
.

I too would like to leave earlier, but my work is having heartburn enough with the 11 work days I will be missing. Plus I want to keep the boys in their routines as long as possible.

Good Morning and Hello All :goodvibes

I am officially an entire thread behind (250 pages). I had to catch up on life the past week or so and had to quit DIS "cold turkey".

Well, you know that couldn't last ... so here I am back again.

I am a DIS Junkie!! :surfweb:

I will catch up slowly but surely ... but in the mean time ... if someone could please PM me anything vitally important I will send extra pixie dust your way.

Hope all is well ... how many days do we have to go?!?!

:tinker: Karen

Karen, I am in the same situation too! I could use the same info from the start of this thread, so if you get it would you send it to me too?

Ohmigosh!!

I realize I am several days behind (please forgive me) ... but ... is it true that we cannot ship anything!?!?! :confused3

:tinker: Karen

There has been some changes and you can now ship some items. Check PJ's website for the actual box sizes, weight limits, and restricted items.

To all who are not doing well, Pixie Dust, Prayers, and a smile to remind you that "this to shall pass."

I will try to play catch up again tomorrow morning or late tonight. I have to get to work now.

That's what I thought. Need to restock that duty free alcohol. DH would not be happy if we couldn't pack it as we are flying.

With my 2 boys to carry and the fact that I don't have to fly home, I am really going to stock the cabinet with some very nice items from the DF on this trip!

I still have loads to do. I ordered the magnetic paper today, and was trying to order our DL park tickets, hence deciding to cut out a day. Been buying toiletries as usually we decant or take half used items, but this time we are away for almost 4 weeks so want enough of our favourite products. I am sure we can get things like toothpaste etc from onboard but other items we are confident with I need to take.

John bought some black shoes yesterday so he is just about done. I'm beginning with my clothing next week.

Marilyn, aren't you going to Club 33 for dinner? If you are then you get a one ticket with your meal. What day are you doing that?

Pj

We get the free ticket on the Sunday - so we want to be away from the ship early!!! I know it is going to be busy but we can get the atmosphere!!!

I have ordered 2 day hoppers for Mon and Tues. So Wed we have a free morning. Originally I was thinking to go into the park for a few hours as it would probably be a bit quieter, but for the cost it isn't worth it.

Tuesday is going to be the best day I think.:dance3:

SUPER freaking busy at work today, but I had to share this from an e-mail I just received. I thought of V right away! :lmao:

eeks :scared1: Maybe taking the 2 weeks off isn't a good idea. I know how much you want this vacation, but it's not worth putting yourself in a financial nightmare, is it?
I'll be getting that IRS economic stimulus payment in May (or whatever it's called) and the amount will be MORE than what I'd make in 2 weeks, so that covers missing the time off work. :thumbsup2

Oh, I am using mine for our spending money. It doesn't come close to my pay for 2 weeks...how do you do it??? I'm impressed.....must be living in michigan to california;)

And now - the excitement!

SO COOL! Great picture of their excitement! Thanks for sharing all the pics. :goodvibes

Oh Holly, I'm so glad you are able to do fly in...I was already starting to worry about your drive. See above for initial plans for the MCO/Hyatt meet, if you do end up staying there.

Still have lots of pages to catch up on...maybe there's more news!

.
Well, I'm going to try to get a room at the Hyatt to make things easy on Tyler....less travelling around. Just get off the plane and head to a room. But we won't be in by the time of the meet you mentioned. Our plane gets in at 7:35pm. I haven't had time yet to see if they have a room and the rate. Probably won't have time until Saturday because every day I have stuff going on after work this week.

I think we should say to start rallying by 6PM then? My plane gets in a tad after 5PM and I just have to check in and dump my bags. Yes, the area to the left of the lobby. Folks can grab food from the food court/restaurants and we can just do a very casual "come & go" as people arrive that evening. Those who arrive very late should peek into the BAR to see if any of us are still hanging out. :lmao: (Though I want a good sleep that night as we will have a busy/exciting day ahead of us...hopefully Monica and I won't be up too late chatting...that slumber party syndrome.)

Six sounds fine. PJ could you put this on the calendar and on the web site so that those coming in will know where to find everyone else? Thanks.

V, we went with DU and had no choice about getting GTY. I wouldn't choose it, why would I?

I really don't know why some who were with DU got assigned rooms and some didn't, but I feel miffed about it.

I think what happened is that DCL got so swamped with reservations that sometime during the morning they decided to quit trying to take the time to find actual rooms and just start giving out gtys. That way they could sort it all out later. Those that got in early got room numbers, those that got in after a certain time got just got a gty. Now, why some have gotten rooms since and some haven't, only DCL knows. :confused3

I think you are correct there Carol. It was a mess that day, and we didn't get the lowest tier price, so I guess we were down the list a bit.

Holly,

The meet just starts at 6 PM but will go on until when ever. It is a come through as you want and stay as long as you want type of thing. People can crab carryout and bring it with them if they want. So there is no reason why you can't make it. :thumbsup2 :dance3:

I would love to get one that has Sus and Duges. That would be so awesome!!

Well so far all signs are pointing to a blood clot in his lungs. His oxygen is low, heart rate high and something showing up in his blood count. He is weak. We are now waiting for the stuff you need to drink for a CAT scan

I'm so sorry to hear this. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. I put his name in our prayer for the sick book at church on Sunday.

I have had only three tickets in the 30+ years I have driven. the last one is a story though, I was coming home from an overtime stint at around 5:AM in late April a few years back in my then brand new Pontiac Grand Am SE and with the windows down for the first time all winter and the tunes CRANKED well I topped a hill, and there he was . The officer just turned on the lights he never even moved his cruiser. I pulled up right in front of him and stopped. when he walked up to my car, the age old question, "do you know how fast you were going". Well I realy did not so I said "no officer, its a new car and I was tooling to the tunes, I guess I was stinging it a bit" "I clocked you on radar at 105" OMG he came back to the car and gave me a ticket for "not obeying traffic signs" other wise they would have pulled my license right then and there. :worship: :worship: :cool1: :cool1:

Ken, thank you for the signs and all your help to all of us :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

My favorite is a ticket DrHug got. We had been to southern Oregon for a weekend job he took. I played while he worked then we went to dinner, played SkipBo, etc. On the way home we were talking, laughing, not paying much attention. DrHug usually has the cruise set, but we had just dropped off of a winding stretch where he is not comfortable with cruise on and had hit the straight downhill stretch. With my chatting,:sad2: he forgot to set the cruise. Well, blue lights came on. We stopped and Trouper Turner introduced himself. :) I don't remember how fast we were going or what he wrote on the ticket, but I do remember WHEN we were supposed to show up for court......MLK Day. A holiday. In Oregon if you go to court and plead guilty they reduce your fine by about half. I never have understood this, but.....we went to the courthouse in Eugene (about an hour and a half drive for us) on MLK day. There is a camera at the front of the courthouse and so I :confused3 at the camera. Then we went out for breakfast. Then I called the court on Tuesday and said "we were there, where was Trouper Turner??" Well, seems Trouper Turner wrote A BUNCH of tickets with that court date. A judge reviewed them all and either dismissed them (DrHug's was dismissed) or set a new hearing depending on previous offenses, etc. I bet the Judge also had a chat with Trouper Turner. :rolleyes1

I live just a little too far from Pasadena to be a "White Suiter" but I am a member of the Burbank TOR Association. I help build the steel structure and the hydraulics animation items. I avoid the float when it is "Deco Week" due to my allergies! This started for me when I was a student at Cal Poly State Univ and worked on thier floats too.

How funny. Adrienne was the fundraising chair for the Poly float for a number of years when she went there. Some of her fondest memories revolve around the weeks and months leading up to deco week. We keep talking about going up and volunteering again during deco week, but getting time away from the store that time of year is always so tough.

That trip was great, except for the hurricane. We wound up with a cat 10 stateroom.
My group all wound up back in the Cat 11s, but at several hundred dollars of savings for each of us. :thumbsup2 Of course, we did not know our room numbers until shortly before sailing.......;)
