No time to catch up, will do that tonight, but just wanted to drop in a quick prayer request. A former co-worker and friend has been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia and she just went into the hospital today at U of M to start chemo. She has a husband and a 16 year old daughter, and also a stepson. Prayers please. She recently just got back on her feet from a major depression and just found this out. :sad1:

Will do Holly. That is so tough.

I will be calling them on Monday to confirm everything one more time, but it should be right in front of the Hyatt. I have never been there so I don't know the layout, but I assume in front where you pull up to register:confused3

Front desk is on 2nd floor (from inside airport-3rd floor from outside). Circle where cars can pickup/drop off is basically basement level.

I wasn't sure how big Hummerzine is so wasn't sure if it would fit!

Sad news....I had to give up my hotel on the ocean in LA....sorry Woody, not in your neighborhood anymore, but we can still do the Cheesecake Factory for a meal together.

We filed our taxes on Feb 10th and were due to receive a substantial refund of a few thousand dollars. We were going to save it for our trip. Well it's almost cruise time and we still have not received it yet. The IRS says we are still due to receive it but somehow it got lost in some black hole and they are taking 30 days to review and then if it doesn't get to us they'll pass it on to another area and they will take another 30 days to review it, etc.

The bottom line is, we didn't get it in time for our vacation and all of our disposable income and then some has been going to Ray, stepdad, for his care. So our available funds for this vacation just got sucked dry. We knew we weren't going to cancel, but we had to scramble to reschedule everything to fit our new budget.

We had to cancel our Sept 08 cruise and we transferred that deposit to this cruise. We canceled our oceanfront suite in FL to a regular room in the same hotel. We had to cancel our oceanfront balcony in LA and changed hotels completely. We are now staying at Staybridge Suites in Torrance for free. We cashed in some priority club points. We're still staying 5 days in LA and then going on to Vegas. The Luxor is already paid for.

I'm sad about my downgrades but I'm glad that I'm still going. Life is real. God Bless the IRS!

Remember the 'assignment' we talked about on the phone. I got the ummmm. 'holders' for them. :ssst:

Don't know if I'll get caught up right now...short lunch. But I think we get to leave early today, so I'll probably DIS a bit before I go.

...catch ya later...

.

You made me laugh again!! :lmao: No need to worry - that is 1 of the few "special secret missions" that I need to carry out :goodvibes

It was great to talk to you last night

Ok, It is snowing in North West Iowa..... I am so ready to get out of here. The temp has dropped over 20 degrees so far and it is still going!! UGH!!!

Nice and warm here in Northern BC, Canada. Blue skies with some lazy clouds.

Just had to pick my DD6 up from school (she isn't feeling well with a headache), but it was a nice warm walk to the school.

Yes I like it when the south gets snow and we don't!! LOL :lmao:

sorry about all your downgrading Deb, but as usual you are very upbeat, and I'm so glad we get to meet.

YEA, me too! John thought we were going to have to cancel, but said NO WAY! I will find a way to make it work and fortunately, I did. I'm not giving this trip up for anything. Me and John need it so desperately since this last year has been a year of hell for us. And there's no way I would give up going with all my new family that I have gotten to know for over a year now. This will be the trip of a lifetime. I will never go on another vacation that will be like this one. I know this is special.

   hugs right back at 'cha Monica. I can't wait until we're all hugging at the terminal with frozen smiles on our faces that we won't be able to wipe off for the entire cruise. Happy, happy, happy soon.......:dance3:

Well, I guess it is now official.

We ARE going on this trip!

Cruise docs have arrived! :cool1: :cool1:

Guess I should PHONE Shannon and let her know, right Nan? :rotfl:

Or should I wait til she reads it on here?

I'm somewhat normal too, sometimes....

we're from San Jose, do you know your way....????

My SIL lives in San Jose.

Yes, what a relief that we were able to make it work out. I can't wait to give you a big hug when we meet up again. I'm just so happy to be going. It won't be long now.

When did you make your plane reservation for Northwest? If it was before the new policy went into effect you can still take 2.

here is the info from the site:

Domestic Travel (within the U.S./Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean)
Coach Class for tickets issued prior to March 29, 2008 for travel any time: Each ticketed passenger is allowed two (2) pieces of checked luggage.
Each piece: 50 pounds (23 kg) with linear dimensions not to exceed 62 inches (158 cm)
Coach Class for tickets issued on/after March 29, 2008 for travel on/after May 5, 2008: Each ticketed passenger is allowed one (1) piece of checked luggage.
Each piece: 50 pounds (23 kg) with linear dimensions not to exceed 62 inches (158 cm).
Northwest Airlines' Silver, Gold and Platinum WorldPerks® Elite customers, SkyTeam Elite customers and passengers booked in full fare classes (Y or B) may still check two bags free of charge. Customers booked in First Class can continue to check up to three bags free of charge
Get answers to frequently asked questions about Northwest Airlines' Free Luggage Allowance.
First Class: Each ticketed passenger is allowed three (3) checked pieces.
First two (2) pieces: 70 pounds (32 kg) with linear dimensions not to exceed 62 inches (158 cm) per piece.
Third piece: 40 pounds (18 kg) with linear dimensions not to exceed 45 inches (115 cm).

That looks like a catch 22. It states "tickets ISSUED prior to March 29, 2008" .
It says nothing about when you purchased them. Your ticket is usually not issued until the day you check in for the flight.:sad2:  :sad2:

I was just looking at the photos of our meet with you two and Monica the other day. It was a great end to our travel day. I think we met at about midnight our body clock time!!!

I just got an email from Orbitz and they are saying we will have to pay the additional charge even though our ticket was purchased prior. Did you get the info from Northwest?
