you late nighters need to go into a chat room!!!

That's a great idea. Alot of the new posters are scared away because they are so overwhelmed. I have received some PM's about it and have been trying to answer questions through the PM system because they are getting lost in the thread!

I asked last night but since many skip over those I thought I would ask again :)

Does anyone have a digital waterproof camera? and if so what kind and do you like the pictures?

I am looking at getting the Olympus 850 SW but am not sure - anyone have this one?

Thanks in advance!

Send a PM to ScottH and ask him. He is not on this cruise but a friend of mine. He goes scuba diving all over the world and he has his and knows alot about the others, he is also an expert on GPS devices. Tell him I sent you. We are crusing together again in July on the Magic!

There was a bit of a hooha last week about a Hooters trying to open in a nearby city. Something to do with it deameaning women.:confused3

I don't like Hooters because the foods not great. I find the whole atmosphere a smart gimmick. From the couple times we've been there, the outfits vary on tightness from waitress to waitress. Some seem to wear tighter shirts and shorter shorts than others. If they want to do that to increase their tips, that's their choice. They tried to open a Hooters in PG and it met so much resistance, they gave up.

You guys are absolutely impossible to keep up with these days.

So just a drive by post to say my brother had a tracheotomy done yesterday to make him more comfortable with the vent. He is also now able to respond by shaking his head yes and no, but still a bit out of it due to the meds. It's going to take some time explaining everything that has happened to him in the last two weeks, but at least we have that opportunity now. He has really stabilized, so hopefully we can get him moving in the right direction before we leave him for two weeks.

That's great news!

:surfweb: Coffee break is over, time to get back to work. :(

Absolutely. I don't own enough clothes to last 15 days, so I'll have no choice. But that sure makes for a lighter suitcase, so I'm OK with it! :thumbsup2

I will be doing laundry too.

I bought this camera because I don't like the pictures that come from the disposable water cameras. I think I got the 850 too. I also got from amazon a camera strap that floats. That way if I drop it while snorkling or in the off the side of a small watercraft, it will float instead of sink. It is very small and I think 8 megapixels. I like Olympus and I think it will do fine. I have to figure out how to use it correctly. It does panoramics automatically and does video too.

Does anyone bring a little first aid kit? I'm looking at them at target and wondering if it would be a good idea. I have band-aids on my list, so figure a first-aid would cover that as well...

I'm sorry. We'll stop.

Excellent news!! I was wondering how he was doing. Thanks for the update. You must be so happy!

Document travelling and why I don't like using the mail system ...

Looking at our UPS.com tracking sheet you should get a laugh.

Our docs left Orlando at 7:52pm on the 22nd.

Less than twelve hours later (ok really 15 because of time zones) they were in Richmond, BC, Canada and gone through the "Import Scan". That is after having travelled through: Louisville KY and Seattle WA.

The Richmond "Arrival Scan" time was done at 6:31 AM on the 23rd. The "Import Scan" was done at 7:07 AM on the 23rd.

The "Departure Scan" wasn't done until 11:00PM.

They spent almost as much time sitting in Richmond as it took for them to get all across the US!

So that should mean I will get it either tomorrow or Monday.

Never had a pool...our neighborhood has one and it works just great! Our friends have one and it is great...but a lot of upkeep. More than I would want to do. Our healthclub has a pool that is alway empty too!

Our neighborhood has a pool and so does the country club I belong to. That's good enough for me as I could not see myself cleaning a pool.
Hmmm wait a minute hot pool boy............ok maybe I could have a pool when I move!

Forgot to mention . . .

Yesterday morning (7:00 am) , before school, my brother's students held a prayer vigil for him at the flagpole in front of the school. There were about 40 students and staff there, and they asked me to lead them in a prayer (something I am not used to). It was very moving, and I also got to give them an update on him afterward.

These same students have also organized a blood drive for him at the local hospital. Two of his former students are taking my 86 year old father out to lunch today and are going to play 500 rummy with him this afternoon to keep him company.

For all those who sometimes think the current younger generation is hopeless, there is still plenty of hope. And yes, this is at an inner city, Public High School. These kids have been spectacular.

That is very moving to hear. I am always hopeful that there are other parents out there trying as hard as we all do to keep our kids on the straight and narrow. It sounds like your brother is quite a great man and well loved by those who know him. I hope he continues on his recovery and i will be sending my good vibes and wishes his way too. :grouphug:

I'm sorry about that. I thought we had tried to answer any questions that came up, and be welcoming to any newcomers. Sorry.
