I lived in NYC when Lennon got shot. I so agree John, it was the night the music died. I often wonder still about what affect he would have had on the world today if he lived.
While he was alive, I remember days sitting near the Dakota with my journal and writing to John Lennon. I never mailed it, but I was just thrilled by the idea that he walked where I was walking and he lived where I was sitting. I thought it to be very profound and so I felt inclined to write to him.
I probably still have my journals from those days. What a hoot it would be to read them now.
It was Dave. The US festival was back in '82 and again in "83. I went to the 83 show. heavy metal day included Quiet Riot, Motley Crue, Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest, Triumph, Scorpions, and Van Halen. Now that was a concert.
Look Familiar Deb???

Had to have Amy take my picture there . . .

YES! I saw MANY concerts in Central Park.....Schaeffer Music Fest....yes, but as I recall they were all free. My friends and I always brought blankets, booze and food and sat out under the stars and heard the best music for free. I don't remember any of the groups I saw, but I do remember that I loved going.
John,
It is important you find out what stage it is. Stage 3,4 5. You can have 1 and 2, but I doubt it. Stage 4 is always chemo and stage 5 is very bad.

Something Exotic
Not that I intend to bore everyone with pictures of my car (even if I am), BUT, I thought that these photos might be a bit exotic for some of you.
In the past few months some of you have posted pictures of your houses and lovely environs.
It occurred to me that our Chicago environs might be exotic for some of you.
So here are some pictures taken today, behind our house.
We live next to the El. We have no backyard, though we do have a small patio off to one side of the garage.
On the plus side, though we do not have a backyard, our house is on the annual garden tour because of the front yard and the landscaping (I am not the gardener), and 1/2 block away is a movie theatre and 22 restaurants.
So, here are some photos of us and Mrs. Fezziwig in our natural habitat:

I will have my Blackberry too . . . Are they "legal" in a hospital? I keep turning my phone off because of the "no cell phone" signs.
I don't think I will know this until after the surgery.
Oh, and Lisa, I will have my iPod with me too. I think I will look like a "Gadget survivalist" in that waiting room.
So, with all the talk of the Fab Four, is anyone else watching the "Final Four"?
I thought I might be able to squeeze it into the overhead bin.
.
Gulliver's was a prime rib restaurant chain. There was one in Marina del Rey.
Not familiar with the Spanish Kitchen.
El Cholo restaurant on Western near Olympic is wonderful. It's been around forever.

Did you guys see "Speed Racer" is going to be a movie?
Coming out May 9th - just saw the commercial.
I LOVED that cartoon as a kid, and had a crush on Trixie.
Wonder how they will do Chim Chim?

You won't. They should tell you that as soon as it is over. You will want to know if it has spread to the lymph nodes (these will have been removed in surgery if it has), but he will need chemo for the other lymph nodes still in his system if it has... I will keep my blackberry with me tommorrow all day if you need anything while you are on your computer.

His spirits are actually pretty good. He was being sarcastic and cracking jokes this evening. Some of his good friends were there. My brother has many, many friends. He has been a kind soul that has given his life to his students over the years.
GOOD to hear.....having positive thoughts and a good outlook is great! It's 100% of the battle.
Ray....my step dad....fell down the stairs in 2003 and suffered brain damage. He was basically a vegetable and all the doctors said he would never improve. But because of my mom, after two years of rehab, he recovered to the point where he could care for himself and in the end he took care of mom. Every doctor is amazed. He did it for her. One's will can overcome amazing odds. It's good that Manuel is in good spirits. This is very positive.
Thank you Kim for the info. I keep telling him stories like this. I told him, you have two choices - one leads to certain death, so you really have no choice. (can you tell I am the pragmatist of the family?)
Thanks to everyone for your kind thoughts once again. I wish Amy were here . . .Call her when you need her!!! You always have the next best thing. Call your closest friends, call Alex and Sophia. Come here and call us! It all helps.
