It is just a really good thing that so many folks are looking out for him, testing him for all these things. Maybe when he can see and hear he won't be so frustrated and he can deal with his other issues.

I just got a call from House Party--I won one of the 4 night cruises--for 4, air included! (the host sweepstakes)
I am lucky to have someone coming along this trip. On a day to day basis I am on my own all the time no big deal I am used to it but I would feel bad to leave my son in the club this trip but would also feel bad to not let my daughter get to do some of the extras she wants. My kids are not rowdy or wild but rather my daughter is shy and reserved at first and my son is well connected to the apron strings still. I have not had him in preschool or daycare yet so he is still a big ol mommas boy. I know he would be OK in the clubs but I also know he would rather be with his sister and I, and this is his vacation too. This way we both get what we need. We can all party all day then when he crashes he can lay in bed asleep and not in the upright position in the stroller and I don't have to stare at the tv from 9-midnight wishing I was able to wander around.
I started crying when we talking...deep down I know it is the most responsible thing to do...but you know when you really want something so bad you just don't want to think responsible???
Of course mortgages in CA are high, and our house is no exception. And when his clients slow down, it really affects our cash flow. I have my board meeting on Feb. 6 and I am going to ask for a bonus b/c they did a salary survey and it showed I was a little under the market. I think I'm doing a good job, so I hope they would think about making it retro. But really the survey was done to set parameters for the upcoming fiscal year (we are July-June) so not sure if they will consider retro, or if I shouldn't ask for it since it might seem like I'm being greedy or something. Still...I have this hope that if I do get the bonus, maybe DH would change his mind...but as I said, it has more to do with him being out of pocket for 2 weeks. It would be a shame to spend all this money and have DH stuck in the hallway on wireless working all the time....
I did call DC and made a phantom booking for the 8/22/09 sailling. There was a Cat. 2 available. It gives me just a glimmer of happiness to think about sailing in the Cat. 2 as we loved the Cat. 1 with our 4 boys. But then the happiness goes away as I know that would mean I'm not going on this cruise....I'm really sad...
But no worries about the whole fish teams...I can manage that no matter what.
So now guess what's happened. Poor Tyler just can't get a break. I shared this with Jan last night, but not here yet. It's not life threatening, but on top of everything else going on with Tyler at once, it just doesn't seem fair.
OK...I think I mentioned a while back that we found out that his vision has completely shifted in the last year from being very farsighted to very nearsighted, and we're waiting for his new lenses to come in. But wait, there's more. Towards the end of the week, I got a voice mail from the occupational therapist at Tyler's school telling me she's been evaluating him and strongly recommends private occupational therapy (in addition to the help they can give him at school) because he's very far behind on his fine motor skills and it has a major effect on trying to write, obviously. OK...his dad and I will work that out, she recommended some places locally (in a letter she sent home that day), we can take care of that.
But wait, there's more. Yesterday I got a letter from the county health department telling me they did THREE hearing tests on Tyler, one a week for three weeks (the multiples were to verify the poor readings), and he has a significant lack of hearing in his right ear. Like I said, not life threatening, but yet another trip to the doctor for follow up.
No wonder he's so frustrated when almost nothing works right on his body.I know it could be worse...because he is VERY healthy..doesn't even get colds almost every (one a year at most), but so many things shouldn't be going wrong all at once.
I'm going to do my best, to make sure he has an awesome time on this cruise because he sure does deserve it with all this crap being thrown at him.

If you can cruise by yourself with the kids maybe that is an option if dad needs to stay home to nurture the business? Either way I can tell from your posts you shall make the right decision.
Such nice and supporting words. Thank you very much.I hope you are able to figure out what is best for your family and go forth from there. I know we would all like to say for you all to just take the cruise. however if honestly it is best for your family to stay home for this one and take one on a later date then I respect you for doing what is right for your family. A lot of people spend way more then they should and overextend themselves with reckless abandon. It is refreshing to see people being catious rather then reckless. If your husbands business is your family's future by all means protect that first and we shall see you on many more cruises in the future. It is always hard in the first stages of a new business not having any time to spare but after a few years I am sure you will have smooth sailing.
My DH is working today, but when he gets back I will talk to him. Maybe I could go with my MIL - my DH would love his mom to spend that much time with the kids....not sure how I would manage with 2 weeks of MIL!!
Actually, she is pretty easy to travel with, although I have never gone anywhere with just her...the positive about that is I bet I could spend a lot of time with my DIS friends as she can hang with the kids!!
Well its nice to see some other troops coming aboard. What'd you think of the weather today. It got to about 5 degrees where we live.
Well, I got our DCL info today in the mail. Like everyone else has said, nothing we already didn't know but it sure is purdy!
I'm signing off early tonight. I'm leaving tomorrow morning at 6:45am to go scrapbooking for the weekend with some girlfriends. I call this my "mom rejuvination weekend".
