I think Bree is pretty popular in Australia, haven't heard too many Brees in the USA now. I hadn't heard it before I moved to AUS.

What names are unique to your neck of the woods, Marilyn?

Jolene

p.s. Just in case anyone was wondering (since we are on the subject of names), Bindie - the daughter of the (late) Crocodile Hunter - is the name of a common, prickly weed in Australia. It's been theorized that her name is an Aboriginal term or something to that effect.

thank you edna
i lived in SYLMAR most of my life and remember FEB 9 1971 very clearly. there was a lunar eclipse that night as we all layed on the lawns in r front yards, not daring to stay in our house.

santa barbara now i would'a slept thru the '94 quake if it weren't for some roommates screaming on the 2nd floor of our house. my parents house was trashed badly in 94 cause the people who owned it in 71 didn't do proper repairs to it.

Gosh, wish I could be walking along the streets of DL today! You guys have fun.

Need to really focus on work today, so please PLEASE try not to chatter too much! After weeks of being behind, I'm finally been caught up for awhile and don't want to relapse!

Have a great day everyone!

Oh - and if you want to join a fish team, please PM today or tomorrow - I will be finalizing the teams on Friday night and sending to Liserann, PJ, seaulater to add to the master list, website and mini-navigators. IOnce that is done, I'm done! There are a few people waiting to join a team and it would be great to have a couple more with them. Also, one team is looking for a team leader to help them. By the way, our team on May 15 (Nan and the 4 Ls) have a GREAT gift! But knowing what the other teams are getting, it will be a tough race for the "best." I think they all will be great!

Bindi sounds so Australian doesn't it?

Most popular boys names in order are Jack,Thomas, Joshua, Oliver and Harry.

Girls in order are Grace, Ruby, Olivia, Emily and Jessica.

There is quite a bit of difference in 'social demographic areas', and some places there is more copying of soap opera names and famous star babies' names are popular.

I don't know how long you have been in Australia, but over here there is a generation where quite a few girls are called Kylie or Charlene!!

Hey Everyone,

Bear with me while I test posting a photo! I saw all the lovely little girls and wanted to add mine!

Did it work???

It worked BEAUTIFULLY!!! This thread needs more pics. ;)
Too many words to read to get caught up. :rotfl:

molly keeps talking about locks of love, but it makes me so sad to think of her losing her long hair. loss of innocence.

I had a student in the youth group that did this several times for Locks of Love. Her hair would grow very quickly and then she would get it cut to shoulder length and begin again. I think she was 11 the first time she donated. She did it one or two times a year. Her parents are very proud of her.

john wants a stamp in his!

Back in 1991 I travelled all through Western Europe with my then girlfriend (now wife) and I didn't get one single stamp in my passport. The darn thing expired without ever being stamped. It was as crisp as the day I got it. Even though I had been through Europe and all over the US. Nothing. It was so disappointing.

FYI, a bit of chatter has begun on the yahoo group with the older kids, mid teens. Seems they have the hang of it now. :thumbsup2

I'm going to have Molly check it out this week. It's not so user friendly (compared to Webkinzs) so not sure if she will stay plugged in or not.

Goodmorning all, Well I'm sorry I missed all the discussion that I could have helped out on yesterday, so I'll answer as much as possible today. Yesterday we had gorgeous day - first one in ages. The sun seemed to shine a little bit brighter with an extra bulb on. I got a ton of errands done. Another beautiful day today, so we are on our way to DL and CA today.

My family is on the way DL and CA today. Meeting up with other homeschoolers for the day. And here I am stuck in the office today.

Well got caught up so I guess I 'd better get back to work and try and get something accomplished today...

Marilyn,
That is funny! Kylie was pretty popular in Australia too. But in the 7 years that I lived there, I have seen (and I kid you not) quite a few babies named Georgia, Dakota and Wyoming. I think Georgia hit the top 10 list a few years ago for a girl's name.

Hi

Yes I see the photos, these are lovely.

Did I talked you about top deck?

Feeling a bit under the weather today.

I woke up at about 3:30 AM with a stomach ache. I think it was brewing because I was sleeping really poorly prior to that.

I felt awful this morning and still do, achy and weak.

I probably should have stayed home, but I don't want to use the PTO time. In all honesty, I preferred when we had sick time.

I just need to make it through until 4PM and then I'll go home early.

On a rather positive note, Mrs. Bennett has arrived in Louisville, KY. She is that much closer to Chicago. I wonder if she'll be delivered tomorrow.

Oh, and by the way, Margaret and Ethel said "hi" this morning to all of you.

.

Okay, time to go meet with the tax man and hopefully getting a BIG BIG REFUND!

I'm back.....refund should be in my account in the next week or 10 days! YIPPEE! Think I'll pre-pay tips when the money shows up!

I have collected a staggering number of Canadians.

Hardly a morning goes by that I don't open the front door to let the dogs out, that I find a smiling Canadian standing on my front porch with a coffee cake in one hand and a thermos of coffee in the other.

I don't intend to be mean, but it's starting to get downright odd.

For some reason, at a late stage in life, I have discovered that I have Canadian-appeal.

Actually, nearly all of the original team that worked on Mouse Manager are Canadian.

I can recall that about midway through development, there was a HUGE fight over the tool's name.

They (the Canadians that is) ganged up on me and were insisting that the name be changed to Mouse Manager, Eh?.

I had to really resist this pressure from our neighbors to the north. Nearly every other day a threatening coffee cake arrived in the mail.

I had to hang tough though (as only we Americans can do, no matter how many coffee cakes are hurled at us).

The name, mercifully remained, Mouse Manager.

I have to go now, this morning's Canadian is insisting I have a second helping of their coffee cake.

.

that is the funniest thing I"ve read all week:rotfl2:

Not that anyone cares, but she got accepted to Sonoma State in California and is going to college!!! We were worried, all her friends were getting accepted and she was getting nothing..but it came we celebrated and all is well..

Congrats! The stress of waiting on the acceptance can be worse then first year exams.
