OK all I am off to pick up my daughter and sell some girl scout cookies!

Nan and I were talking about having the girls earn a badge on this trip. How many of you have scouts? Would any of you want to do a small project to earn a badge? Could you daughters pack their vests along for a photo op with their "Dis Troop sisters"?

I suppose I will be replying to your answers in the new thread tonight. Will talk about it more there as I think it would be a really cool once in a lifetime thing for the girls. Oh and if any of your girls in other countries are girl guides they are welcome as well! :thumbsup2

How could you even consider travelling without the summer furs? What's one more steamer truck? Remember style is everything.

Besides, one has a duty to set an example for the lower orders.

It's what's on the outside that counts, not what's on the inside.
.

The inside of the trunk or the outside????

My goal is to get back to goal in time for the cruise. Otherwise, I may need to pack a can of Crisco, a shoehorn and a roll of duct tape so I can get into the tuxes.

.

I'd sub for you, but I'll be elsewhere drinking fruity fatty drinks.... ;)

One thing that really impresses us with your country is your praise of your forces fighting overseas. Whilst I realise not everyone will feel the same, we do get a feeling you value your troops.

In our country we are very bad at valuing our service personnel, but we have just reached a new low. One city, Peterborough, is close to an air force base, and the service personnel are being verbally abused when seen in uniform in the city because the abusers don't agree with our deploying troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.:sad2: So, they have been told not to wear uniform when out in the city!:confused3

The one thing about this country is that although many of us do not agree with the administrations that are there... we DO support our troops!!!! Especially if they are local like we have....

Although I would not mind the "Royal Bump" I would rather have you join us! I am thinking that like all projects, it can be slow at start, but then it can jump into high gear very quickly and that you will be ok. The four corners need to be covered! Like the idea of a Royal Photo, may even have to get the silver polish out for it. Off to work I go now that I am caught up again.

Sir Steven... I am encouraged by your grand thoughts... I will keep them close and hope that the problems I am having with my administration will clear long before our Journey...

Pack silver polish for the Royal journey... How will you possibly get through Royal security with such shiny armor??? Queen of the East requests that you wear clean skivvies in case you need to de armor yourself momentarily at the port...

I've just been on pj's website and it is great that we have so many new photos of cruisers. Go and have a look if you haven't been there for a while. also if some of you haven't yet sent a photo to pj please do as it is great to see you all.

That is so sad. I just don't get it. And that's a far cry from where your country used to be with regards to your forces. MY grandfather talks of the respect shown by the people when he was over there in uniform during and after WWII.

I know here I have been quite happy at the amount of pride Canadians are finally starting to put in with our forces. My office rents space to the Canadian Forces at no charge when they come to our city to do recruiting drives or for medical testing. We believe it is just part of our national duty and way we can help to give back.

Here it is Friday I am wearing red. www.redfridays.ca

You have my heartfelt Thanks for that!

Thanks for the tip Tony. We don't have reservations. We saw, online, that we could make a reservation, but wanted to see one first. Then we checked out the website and fell for the red one. "We wants the redhead"! There is a new dealer nearby, so we'll go and check it out this weekend, I HOPE ! Are you still takiing reservations? AND how long is the wait, usually? We aren't really in a big hurry. We wanted one to use as a TOAD for the RV, besides the fact that we like them. Can you get Mouse Ears for them?:lmao:

We are still taking reservations. Officially, I can't say the current wait time (there is something coming available later this month that will let us actually tell people that). What I can tell you is that we have been overwhelmed by the response. Wait times depend on the dealer (if you are in the Mdiwest, you'll wait a lot shorter time, for example). West Coasters have probably the worst wait. I can pretty much guarantee that you will have to wait until sometime in 2009 if you place your reservation now.

That being said, the reservation is completely refundable at any time, and only $99, so it is pretty low risk.

Mouse ears as an aftermarket accessory? I think the Mercedes folks in Germany would freak out! :scared1:

I just noticed that??!! What was I thinking?

I was thinking of making some sort of book that had a page for each port and putting some facts in there, very simple and straigt forward so Samantha could write them down..like Currency: and put what it is and maybe glue an actual coin or something?! I don't know. I would like her to be able to take stuff other than pictures to school.

That is such a great idea V. Some things the other kids could actualy touch.

For those of you still in the Lifeboats I found a great boardgame to play while there...

That's great! :lmao: We need that for one of the lounge areas, to while away the hours.

Brooke is a Daisy but I'm not sure what she can earn. She just started about 2 months ago and she has earned three petals and one patch. I'm sure she would love to bring her smock. Her uniform looks like pjs!

I don't even have the suitcase unpacked from October. I washed everthing summery, folded it and put it back in. It is in a closet somewhere. Normally it would have been out and semi-packed by now,:sad2: .

I haven't decided if I am driving to BUF Thursday night or Friday morning. Will I do a stay and park hotel or park at the airport? How am I feeding 14 people on Saturday morning, grocery delivery or hit Goodings or other? No clue on how I am getting from DLR to LongBeach Airport (anyone flying out of LGB on Tuesday night?). Let's see what else is there to do?

But I do have sunscreen, :cool1: .

Pj
Don't worry about Long Beach Airport PJ. We'll make sure you get there on time. OR, we may just kidnap you and bring you to Oregon with us. LOL !:lmao:

V, that is my job for the villa, no stealing! BTW what do the little ladies like for breakfast, oh and John2? Have to feed the men. I was thinking cereal for the little ladies and bagels and fruit for the big kids, coffee and OJ.

Pj

PJ, am I included too?:)

Stay safe.

We have a severe weather warning for Sunday night/Monday. Bad winds with some strange weather phenomenon called a 'bomb' by meteorologists!!:confused3 Worst winds for over 20 years are forecast. We are slightly east of the country so aren't supposed to have it as bad.

Whew Marilyn, be careful. Any weather phenomenon called a 'BOMB' can't be good. I'll have to look that one up.

Ok I am getting worried. I still haven't heard back from txaggie94gigem , who was it that had her e-mail. She is our fishmail leader and I don't know what we are doing. I don't want to do anything without her if she is coming back.

We need a poll, or actually I would like a poll, but haven't figured out how to do one.

With all the talk about dining times and dining rotations, which would you prefer if you could select just one as an option with DCL:

A specific dining time; for example 5:30 or

A specfic rotation, such as LAP.

So what is more important to you, time or rotation?

I am really torn between the two.

I would like 8:00pm. We have only cruised once. We had 8:30 dinner and we arrived at the Pirate Party just in the nick of time. I know you can ask the waiters to hurry things along and we should have done this.

But I would also prefer PLA rotation. It seems to be a a better rotation for this cruise.

Aaack the dilemma!!!!!

We had the 8:30 seating the last time we sailed. We really didn't like it too well. It made it so that we couldn't find seats at the clubs or had to hurry to make the deck parties. Didn't like to have to hurry through dinner either because there was always a small show of some kind in the dinning room and that was fun to stay for. It put us in AP for formal night which really doesn't mean anything one way or the other to us. I think we determined that trip that time was more important than rotation.

So the parties are after dinner? I thought they were during dinner.

Deck parties and club shows are after dinner but they usually have shows with the servers and frequently characters during dinner.

Carol

Right on! That's what I'm talking about! We are bringing a few of our favorites with us. Although I did order a bottle through DCL so it will be chilling when we get there! No wasting valuable champagne drinking time!

Yes, cannot decide - this cruise we will be on a bar bill budget --- a short 3 day Pre-Christmas cruise we were no so contrained...but I think we will be brining a few bottles of bubbly with us as well.

We have blizzard warnings for tonight. :scared1: They are predicting 9 to 12 inches before it ends tomorrow. I think we have already had close to six. More snow than we have had all year and the worst storm in several years. :sad2:

Carol

Congrats! I'm glad it worked out for you!!

I just noticed your avator (?)...are you from OR? I see you're living in AZ now! But I'm asking because it's a photo of the OR Ducks football mascot! Just wondering!

We aren't from Oregon. Shawn did live in Medford from infant to third grade.

However, I went to graduate school atthe University of Oregon and Shawn did his undergraduate school there as well. The five years we lived there went by so fast. We both have degrees from there and needless to say - we are HUGE Duck fans. We go back to Eugene every fall to attend a football game.
