GORGEOUS!

Drum roll please .... 2.5 more pounds gone (okay yes I wanted it to be more!!)

I am very impatient (and very hungry for reeses miniatures and red vine licorice for some reason)

But, my clothes are no longer shrinking on me. Must be the new laundry detergent :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :lmao:

:tinker: Karen
Congrats on the weight loss....I LOVE licorice, but only the really cheap red kind.......hate Twizzlers!!

I would assume that everyone knows about this by now, but some airlines (United that I know of) is limiting the baggage that you can check.

If you are flying after May 5th (which is most of us) and bought your ticket after Feb 4th and are not flying first/business class or part of their upper-level flying program--you may be limited to ONE checked bag.

We are checking with other airlines and I would suggest that everyone do so as well.

Dear friends:

This morning I picked up all of our accumulated mail at our neighbors who had been collecting it for us and saw the letter from Carol (pahrumpgil). This is just a brief note to thank everyone for their concern.

Finding this thread was confusing until I read about the new rules. I thought my DH has posted our status in the old thread but I guess not.

To everyone who has been worried about me, I am doing well. My DD Samantha developed a blood clot in her leg and lungs due to her use of birth control pills. She had been limping thinking she had pulled a muscle, had a deep tissue massage which made things worse.

A few hours before we were to fly home she was in so much pain that we went to the local ER. The life threating clots luckily were discovered before we flew home. She spent some time in the hospital in Orlando before we were able to take her home. She is on the mend but will be on Coumadin for at least 6 months to dissolve the clots. Her visits to the doctor now only consist of a weekly meeting at the Coumadin clinic to measure her INR levels.

Right after that my SIL became ill, so I needed to go help DD with him. She also need surgery on her nose for old scar tissue so I have not been home much. DH has been traveling for work since we returned home so he has not been able to be much help with family issues.

I had asked DH to post what was going on with our family but clearly though he said he did , he must have posted in another board. Since he is in Asia, I will have to check where he posted via email. Since I thought everyone knew, I have not been checking on the board here as we canceled this cruise for family reasons. With all my travels and issues, I been checking not been checking my email so if anyone has emailed me, please give me a few days to get caught up.

To add insult to injury, my main computer crashed and I will have to wait until DH gets home to get any info from the computer. The lists I was keeping were on that computer so if you guys need any info from me, please let me know. Right now I am using my notebook computer which is my travel computer and has very little information on the drive.

Sorry to miss all of you on this special cruise.

Warm Regards,

Noel

We

Noel - thanks for updating us. So sorry to hear about Samantha but glad she is getting better. sorry we'll miss you on this trip! Take care!

it has 3 row seating. DVD player and is the same price for what I would have settled for yesterday.

Ha you beat me here! I hit lots of traffic on the way home. Don't those people know I need to get home to Dis?

Jacinda was already asking on the way home when were going to get together again! She said and I quote "Mom those girls were really nice and they like all the same stuff I do!" I can see the girls being thick as thieves soon.

So glad that us moms got to meet up too! It is nice to chat in REAL life sometimes as well. Nan and Steph were just as I had thought they would be from reading their posts! Glad to have some great new friends!!!!! :grouphug:

So happy I found the Dis and decided to try and meet others on this cruise!
:goodvibes Although I'm happy for all of you who have been able to meet beforehand, I'm also extremely jealous! :grouphug:

CONGRATS V! I think you'll be really happy with it. Both of my brothers had a Durango a few years back and had nothing but good things to say.

Was not a good day at the office either, but that's another story.

I hate bad days at work. I hate going back to work after a period of time off. I am always afraid what I will find.......

I had a good day today. I think EVERYTHING closes in DC on Pres Day. I only had 6 e-mails....usually get about 200 a day!!

Awesome..congrats!
Once you get used to those payments, it won't be so bad...I just paid mine off...I'm going to try to last another 5 years w/o so I feel your pain! In my 5 years, I'll have to buy 2 cars as taylor will need one too...ugh!

BABY!!!!

Oh I love babies! She is sure a cutie!

edited to add: That pink poodle looking blanket on the left in the pic I have. All babies and little kids love my blanket. It is so soft and easy to cuddle. I have given many like it as gifts after seeing how much everyone loves it. Great baby shower gift.

we did & we did. I'll work on the pictures after I get caught up page 17 now...stop talking for a bit and let me catch up! :lmao:
Um.....yeah.....good luck with that "stop talking" idea! :rotfl:

Jan, it's not any easier having her right in front of your face while it's happening either. My mom lived in the same town as me and had the early stages of dementia. She insisted on doing everything herself even though she was at a time where she needed the help. In her world everything was right and tight. In reality we lost the house because she couldn't manage it in the end and didn't have all the right paperwork in order for us to keep it. But in her world, all was well so she didn't need any help. She took care of everything for us. She kept driving and getting into accidents. She kept falling in the house but wouldn't use the walker because she didn't need it. She wouldn't let us do her grocery shopping for her or take her to her many doctors appointments or let us help her with her medications. We didn't fight her we just let her be and I think fortunately she passed before she got any worse mentally. Oh yeah, and then there's the exhaustion because she's in a hospital every other week or so and you have her husband to take care of because he can't take care of himself and she's not home to do it so you get him. I still have him to care for now, even after she is gone.

Your parents become your children one day.....and you worry about them and care for them whether they are in the same town or 700 miles away. I'm just saying you won't feel any differently whether they are near or far so don't beat yourself up over it thinking that it could be different if only......it would be the same no matter what.

What I have learned from all of this is that I don't have any kids to take care of me when I become the child.....that's only 20 years from now or so. I have to make sure that I can take care of me. John has his kids.....but I'm not sure they would take care of him, forget about me. I think me and John better plan on taking care of ourselves.

Wise words Deb. In reply to your thought of having to care for yourself I'm so happy that we have found this place for my mom. Even though we are all in town to assist the heavy lifting is being done for her. Of course you pay a premium for this, but that's what all the years of mom & dad savings have covered for her. I'm so learning a lesson at this late age from the gift of my parents wisdom. I have kids, but I dread the thought of them having to disrupt their lives to center around me or Paul. I hope we can have enough saved at that point in our lives to make sure we aren't a burden to them. Also I hope we make the decission to move into such care early enough. My dad was like your mom and his last few years were very hard on all of us and even more so made it hard to have to force my mom to move on a dime when he died. :sad2:

You never know. Ask a store near you and they may get some! Or ask Costco it may be headed your way. I LOVE IT! :lovestruc
]

I put my zip code on the web site and it came back and said not in my state....mostly west coast.

I bet Costco will be the first place around here to get this.....GREAT!! I get to go to the $300 store!!!

For all those making lists (aren't we all) ...

Don't forget movie/show candy!!

We are having some discussions right now ... so far SweetTarts and Reeses Pieces are "on the list". :lovestruc

I think Preludes is REALLY expensive. Do any of you buy from them? If so, what do you buy??

The first cruise, my kids (then 8-9-10) liked the paintcan powder thing where you licked the brush and kept dipping for more powder. But YIKES the $$$. I have since found similar items at the local CVS store. But, they have moved on to Dove bites and Creme Savers. :cloud9:

:tinker: Karen

That powder candy is so messy too. I always tried to steer my kids to anything else! I am going to bring movie candy as part of their baskets in the rooms. I can't see paying a ton for candy if I can send a few boxes along instead and they will be happy to see it in their baskets so win win for me!
