How sad! Why are people so cruel? I think you're right that Grandma was just jealous. Horrible!

Actually that was true with her. She had a horrible, horrible young life. And she was just so jealous of young women having a good time of it. All of us (DILs, her daughter, and granddaughters) got the same treatment when we were mid teens thru late 20s. I married DrHug when I was 17 and had no idea why she treated me the way she did, then it was her daughter, then other dil, then the granddaughters when they hit that age. She really did have a sad life, we found out much later after she passed and was never helped to deal with her issues so she just became angry and bitter. We do so wish she would have talked with anyone of us. :sad2:

I think of all the souveniers we have purchased and almost all of them are in the bags in the closet......

That's why we stopped buying souvenirs. We buy an ornament for our Christmas tree from the places we visit. Every year it is so fun to decorate the tree and reminisce about our trips.

Anyone getting any vaccinations/shots for this cruise. I've been reading a thread over on the amin cruise board and wondered.

I did read some time ago not to bother, but now I'm thinking perhaps to update my Hep and Tetanus. I went to Kenya in 1997 and had vaccinations, but can't remember what!:)

I am wondering about this too.

How long have you two been married? ;) I can think of other things. (clothes comes to mind)

We have been married a year and half!:rotfl: But had been dating for 7 years before we got married!

Wow! Can you adopt me? Then I'd ditch my mom who always used to tell me as a child how fat I was, when I was very thin as a child, well, actually I was still a nice weight up until I got pregnant. I'll never forget the one time in 7th grade when I asked to go somewhere she was going and she told me no because she would be embarrassed to be seen with somebody so overweight. It's a wonder I didn't grow up with some eating disorder or horrible self-esteem. Not sure how, but I have a great self-image and don't even cringe when she says those things. I tell her, "No, I'm average size and perfectly healthy, so back off". ;) Her mouth clams shut, she gets a disgusted look on her face, but she shuts up!

If it helps anyone, I'm a Weight Watchers meeting leader.

Who's ordering a basket from Shirley?
When will you order?
What will you order?
Inquiring minds need to know!!:)

I want to order a basket for John, and like V have no idea what to have in it. I know you can have a collapsible cooler or tote bag for an adult to deliver goodies in instead of the pail!!!

Shirley was supposed to be finding ideas for our last cruise but never got back to me. We were communicating by email and I think it doesn't work as well for her. Ended up with the DCL bon voyage banner etc.

If you come up with any ideas please share.

Up to press I think a Grumpy tee, couple of cans(or bottles) of cider, gummy sweets, underwater disposable camera. That's it, can't think of anything else!!:confused3

Hi, I posted over there about immunizations. Here's my humble opinion, I like to be prepared.

I am a nurse and a Girl Scout.

I would definately update your tetanus if needed. It's something you should do anyway. Tetanus boosters can give you a sore arm for a few days, so why suffer on your vacation, if the need arose.

Hep A shots. Like I said in the other post, you can get it anywhere, from eating contaminated foods. Mexico has a high risk for Hep A. Click on the countries where hepatitis A is common
http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/diseases/hepatitis/a/fact.htm

Hep B shots. You are less likely to have a problem here in the states, with blood products as they are tested. However, in other countries are you willing to take that risk if the need should arise? I for one am not.

Thanks for the information. I don't plan on eating at any of the ports but you never know. It sounds like a good idea to get b/c of mosiqutos too.

My father was the one who made the comments in my family....I remember many a time I would go to pick him up at the airport and before he even said "hello" the words out of his mouth were "god, you look fat". So nice after not seeing him for weeks at a time. I've also had weight/self esteem issues since I was little.....I even have an eating disorder (doing ok w/ that now). I've always tried to excuse those comments as he is a latin man, and latin men do not think before they speak.

If it helps anyone, I'm a Weight Watchers meeting leader.

Does anyone know if DCL does/would hold Weight Watchers meetings onboard? The only time I successfully lost weight was with Weight Watchers (which means I'd better start going again if I'm going to lose this weight before the cruise. 12 pounds to go). Anyway, DCL has the Friends of Bill W. meetings. I just wondered about WW since we'll be onboard for 2 weeks. Maybe that's the absolute last thing anybody wants to do on a cruise. :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Confession time about "Friends of Bill W". I went on my first DCL cruise with my sister. We kept seeing the Friends of Bill W meetings in the Navigator and kept commenting on how there must be some kind of reunion group on board. We even joked about wanting to crash the party some morning to see what it was all about. Wouldn't we have gotten a surprise. It wasn't until I got home that my DH just gave me that "duh" look and said that's AA. I can just imagine any fellow passengers who overheard my sister and I and thought what a couple of nitwits. :sad2:

How about this?

Oh yes. That is clever!!! Can you just get it to move now!!

Put in on the belly of the shirt and then practice abdominal breathing, it will move!:rotfl:

Rich's Bday will be on the cruise. I am looking for ideas as well. The tote bag sounds good, but we will be getting one from Castaway Club.

I won't be able to get him to dress up for pirate night. So no pirate gear for him. I've ordered a Pirate polo from Disney shopping. The camera's a good idea and candy, especially chocolate will be good.

Hopefully someone else has some great ideas!

How awful Monica! Well, you know all of us here think you look perfect! :grouphug:

Ok leaving for the eye doctor, hopefully they can figure out what is wrong with me. I have been having terrible headaches and blurred vision.

I remember you mentioned that before. I hope everything is OK. Please keep us posted when you find out. :grouphug:

Small binoculars? Mug, Disney glass?

I hope the eye doc can sort this for you.

OK....I'm off to watch "Lost" from last night, and Survivor. And have leftover pizza! Then back to sleep.

My grandmother told me that I was an old maid when I was 21 (or 22) as all her other granddaughters were already married by that age.

Lori - I do this too!!

WHAT?! That's ABSURD! I'd be miserable if I were married at that age. Sure, it's wonderful for many people, but I was WAY too immature and so not ready to be married at 21 or 22. Good grief!

Of course, had there been a Dr. Hug in my life when I was 17, I would have been happily married, but that just doesn't happen too often.
