MAXPASS question

I tried asking this in the big thread, but I don't think anyone answered. If you get into one park before the other park opens, are you able to pull fast passes for the park that hasn't opened yet? Or do fast passes not start being pulled for a park until that park actually opens? In other words, if you get into Disneyland at 8 am and DCA doesn't open till 9, do you have to wait until 9 before fast passes become available in DCA? I assume so, but with MAXPASS I wasn't sure. Thanks!

I've read quite a bit on this subject, and I haven't heard of anyone getting a FP before the park opens. I think someone would have to try it and report back.

I haven't gone yet but I have heard what sounds like some rides being available to pull a max pass FP for during EMH, but the time will not be until after regular park opening. For sure I heard RSR is one, I also think someone said GotG as well, so it is possible but someone else will have to say which ones. I would think you could do early for DCA even if it's scanned in at DLR as the same idea as pulling one during EE/EMH but I've never heard of anyone trying yet

I'm pretty sure you can pull any FP using MaxPass as soon as you enter either park and complete the MaxPass purchase. The return time will not be until 30 minutes after park opening though. I will caveat that I don't think I actually checked all the FP windows for the opposite park. I think there are some differences for the park with EMH but I didn't pay attention as we didn't stay on-site.

Last week we purchased our MP as soon as we entered the park for EMH then immediately booked our first FP for 5 minutes after the official park opening (park opened at 7 for EMH, opened officially at 8 and we booked a FP for 8:05). Then we scanned into our first ride, then immediately booked another FP. The timing was the same both days.

I was looking at upcoming hours and I'm not sure if this is accurate year round. But if you take out EMH and MM hours, the parks officially open to the general public at the same time each day (except Halloween Party days). If you can't book MP during EMH, then I suppose it doesn't really matter either way. The one benefit however is that if you're in the park that has EMH, as soon as the park that doesn't opens, you will already be scanned into a park and won't have wait at the turnstiles before getting in. Correct?

Both parks begin scanning people through the turnstiles about 30 minutes before official park opening (regardless of EMH). Once through, you can make your way to a rope to wait for official opening. If you are in the park with EMH and are staying on-site, you can go around the rope with cast member permission and begin riding the attractions that are open.

As soon as you scan in at the turnstile - whichever park - you can purchase MaxPass and make your first selection. I know for sure that for the park without EMH, your first fastpass window will be 30 minutes after park opening. It sounds like if you select a ride in the park with EMH, your first fastpass window will be right at or just a few minutes past general public park opening. All of this subject to availability, of course - if you enter later but still before park opening, you might receive a later window, especially for the popular attractions.

We were in the parks yesterday (Labor Day 9/4) , we arrived at DCA at 7:40 (during EMB), we DID NOT have access to EMH. After entering I added maxpasses, and was able to secure a FP at 7:47 for GOTG. My return time was 8:10-9:10. So within 10 min of the park opening.

We headed to Soarin' to ride right at general admission Opening (8am) and somehow they let us on at 7:55. We were done with soarin' and arrived at GOTG by 8:16. As soon as we scanned in, I immediately pulled another from the que with a return time of 8:50.
