MaxPass/PhotoPass Question

Hi all,

I have a question about purchasing MaxPass solely for the purpose of the PhotoPass downloads. Next week my whole family will be taking my 4 year old nephew on his very first Disneyland visit. I was thinking I could purchase MaxPass for only myself so we can take advantage of the photo opportunities in the park. $10 for downloads of all your pictures for the day seems like a really great deal? Am I missing some sort of catch?

From the way I understand it, I will be able to download all of our pictures onto my phone or computer and share them via text, email, social media, etc. Is this correct? And these are photos from rides, character meets, and photo spots around the park?

If you find your group splits up, if they keep track of ride photo code numbers and/or get any addition photos on a separate photo pass card you will be able to add them to your MaxPass account.


For ride photos my group will take a pic of the ride photo with their cell.
The Disney Photographers will give a PhotoPass card when they take photos, if the photo isn't attached to MP.
At the end of the day, I collect all the cards from the grandkids and apply them to my MP account and the pics are there in one place


I'll be there next week too!! Tuesday through Friday.
Taking the oldest DGS-24 and his fiance. Kind of a semi-solo trip for me.
I know the grandkids aren't going to want to hang with Geemo the whole time.

Have fun and enjoy the memories in pictures...

Wow, thanks for the detailed reply! I have been to DL several times, but my last visit was 2013, so a few things have changed since then. Those are great tips for getting the photos all in one place.

My family has never done PhotoPass at all, and I was wondering if the photographers are fairly accommodating with photo requests. For example, one group shot with everyone, then another with just the cousins, or just the grandparents, etc.

How crazy that we will be there at the same time! We have DCA on Wednesday, and DL on Thursday. I did half a day solo at WDW last year and it was a different experience for me, but still very fun. I park hopped between Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios the first part of the day, and then after 5pm met back up with my friends in Magic Kingdom. I actually had a blast!

When you approach the photographer, let them know your request. I've never had them deny my special groupings.

HINT.... Be sure to have your group "in the know" of what special groupings you are asking the photographer to do.
It will make it go easier when it's your turn.

Our AP’s do not include MaxPass but I will buy it for the day just on mine once in a blue moon for exactly this reason. If it is a holiday or special occasion and I want to be in the photos for once. We have the worst luck with photopass photographers and bad photos though and I usually end up regretting it, and wishing I’d just handed them my phone!

In addition to the Disney photographers pic, I always get pic's with my cell phone.
Between the two I generally get at least one good one.

On our last night I'll send the pics into Costco and have the prints ready when we get home.
The grandkids can take pictures home with them that way.

I feel like I should warn you that there aren't photopass photographers with all of the characters. In fact, very few we met had them.
We found a good amount of photographers in California Adventure- in Cars Land and Hollywood Land. We saw very few at all in Disneyland.
This isn't to discourage you from getting the service, but you may want to check the app and search them out if many photos are important to you. I think I expected to simply come across them throughout our week. That just didn't happen.
