How drastically different is Maxpass availability on the major rides (RSR, Space, Guardians, Incredi, Indy) on max spring break crowd days?

I’m very discouraged by our disneymoon planning right now. This will be my 3rd trip (her first) and I felt I had the FP system mastered so I feel really good about being able to maximize it even more with maxpass. But I found out we will be there the worst week possible (it’s the only week blocked out from the discount ticket packages that were offers a while back). April 14-22. We originally were going the last week of April but had to move to mid April for venue reasons. I’m told this is the worst of all the spring break weeks.

So I know I’ll be facing big crowds, and I’m really bummed she won’t get to see paint the night because food and wine will still be going on. But I still feel equipped to manage it with a good plan.

But I want to know what we are really up against. We won’t wait in an hour line for anything, so maxpass will be a must for us and we’ll want to re-ride most of the e-tickets multiple times. Especially Guardians, Racers, Incredicoaster, and Space. We will have 5 days there and the first half of our honeymoon we are in the Grand Californian.

How early do you think most of these rides will run out these days? And should we at least expect late ours to compensate for the heavy crowds?

I’ve also heard Easter Day might actually have lower crowds. Is that true?

Finally, does MaxPass allow you to hold multiple tickets at once if you wait the allotted time like FP? Assuming your FP you pulled was way out in the future.

With 5 days you will see everything and you will be able to go at your pace. We were there at Christmas and Maxpass was fine. We did not wit more than 15-20 minutes for anything. It is just all about strategy, getting there in the morning, and relaxing. Enjoy the vacation.

I actually think those dates will be better than a lot of the spring BECAUSE of those ticket deal blackouts.

Easter Sunday has been light the past two years. We don’t even go until after church and it’s “light,” so I imagine rope drop is pretty nice.

I can actually give you some specific data points for FP availability on crowded days, but it’ll take me a bit.

Finally, see here for a lot of Maxpass info: https://www.disboards.com/threads/m...view-and-some-strategy.3726246/#post-60074870

If you’re interested, the thread I linked there a few posts down has a whole listing of FP availability from back in May.

I actually think your dates will be just fine. Not low crowds but not insanely packed either. Since Easter is late this year a lot of Spring breaks will be done already. Our school district has always had spring break tied to Easter but for the first time it is in March this year. We’ve went on Easter Day in 2017 and I was surprised by the low crowds. Get there for rope drop and I think your dates will be just fine. With 5 days you’ll have more than enough time to do everything you want.

I agree that your dates will probably be fine. How many days are you actually in the parks for? Easter is VERY late this year and I think a lot of the spring break crowds will actually be gone. My kids typically have spring break on the later end of things and even our district didn't push it all the way to Easter this year (our break is 4/1-4/12). The blackout dates on the promo tickets will keep some away as well. SoCal APs are blocked and Deluxe is blocked Fri-Sun of Easter weekend. I've been on Easter Sunday before an it was quite manageable.

As a reference, no part of spring break is typically as busy as the Christmas-New Years week. I was just reading another post where someone rode 12 rides with MP on NYE. I really think you'll be fine. :)

I also think you'll be okay, but with regards to MaxPass, I would plan on grabbing a FP for one big attraction each day as soon as you arrive. You probably won't be able to grab more than one RSR FP per day (although, long hours might mean a second one), but there is a chance of getting RSR plus at least a few of the other thrill rides in the same day. I do think the biggest advantage you have with MP on a busy day is the ability to pick-up cancelled FPs.

(If you don't mind riding separately, you can also do Single Rider Line for RSR, Indy, Incredicoaster and Space). That will give you more rides with less wait (usually).

... Especially Guardians, Racers, Incredicoaster, and Space...

As the pp noted, RSR, IC, and SM all have Single Rider lines as well as FP. If you both are willing to be put in separate vehicles, SR will allow you do repeat rides while using MP/FP, too. For example, you could ride using a FP, then get back in the SR line and ride again. Wash, rinse, repeat.
Don't forget about MP cancellations -- those can be wonderful! And they can happen any time. Keep looking throughout the day and when you see FPs for a ride you want, grab them! (Seriously, they won't be there more than a few seconds!) This is one of the best perks of MP.
Agree with the above posters that your dates may actually be better than you're expecting because of the promotion blockout.
And don't worry about what won't be there, like PTN -- it's her first trip, right? She won't know what's missing, so enjoy showing her what is there and making the magic for her! (Then she'll want to come back and you can show her PTN on that trip!)

Honestly, even on the busiest days, show up at park opening (or if you have early entry, use it) and get a FP as soon as your pass is scanned, then keep getting them and you will be able to do most of the park by around 2 PM when it starts getting busy, then go and do shows.

Also, I believe the So Cal ticket discounts are blacked out during those dates and So Cal Select Passes are blacked out as well. Deluxe are valid during the week, but not Friday and Saturday, which means those will be a bit lighter days as well.

As for Cast Members, they can sign into California Adventure, but not Disneyland for these dates.

So crowd levels will be most likely be manageable.
