Maury; It's like watching a human train wreck.

I happened to be channel surfing a few minutes ago, while I was stuck in front of my TV, and I surfed through the Maury Show. The context and the behavior immediately caught my attention. Apparently he asks for women or men, who may believe that the child who calls them "Daddy and Mommy" may not be their children. He makes DNA testing available, presents them with a forum to fight, argue and bicker and then he proceeds to destroy the family with the news of "you are not the father". It was AWFUL. The young woman ran off of the set in tears, the husband was censored repeatedly for profanity, and that creepy Maury is trying to comfort the girl after he assists in destroying her life. Is he going to follow her home to be sure she doesn't end up a victim of domestic violence?? Obviously the sharpest knives in the drawer do not appear on this program but isn't there some social responsibility or some shame in airing this trash?? It is stunning! I have noticed the same thing on the Springer Show. THAT I was exposed to when I was going for PUVA treatments and didn't have control of the clicker. They seem to be "sponsored" by the DNA testing service. YUCK!!

You should have seen Monday. They brought back people who were there before to test MORE people....some were there testing man #9!!

I love the show though....I love when they say, "You are NOT the father." and the woman takes off running with Maury following her....he's trying to comfort her and promises he'll help her find the father. It's very moving.

What I don't get it this: When your wife brings you to the show to tell you your kid might not be yours and it turns out it is yours, your wife still CHEATED! They cry and hug and say everything is great now. No, it isn't. Your wife still cheated. I don't get it, but I watch Maury every time I'm home and I've been missing a lot of work and watchin' a lot of Maury.

That's all he ever has on his show.. There was a girl on there once that had to test 13 men to find ot the father of her baby and NONE of them were a match.

Maury's show used to be a lot more like Oprah than Jerry Springer. But he wasn't getting the ratings he wanted. That is until he started doing "My Baby's Daddy" and bootcamp shows. So I guess that's what people wanted to see.

I miss the fat baby episodes. Haven't seen one of those in a while. My baby drinks 10 baby bottles a day of strawbery milk, wakes me up in the middle of the night for a can of Spaghettios, eats Supersized value meals, but I don't know why he is fat!!

I think wild teens is tomorrow! What is WRONG parents that would air their dirty laundry on national tv?? Don't they have hope that their children will grow up and put these days all behind them? Now there will be video tape evidence when they decide to run for the Senate. (not likely after seeing the candidates, however)

Maury's show feeds on people who have so little self-esteem that they are willing to "prostitute" themselves for their 15 min. of "fame." How he manages to remain on TV is a sad testimony to TV ratings. I can't imagine companies wanting to advertize on this trash show, but apparently there are enough to keep him going.

In my area, most of the commercials are for trade and beauty schools - they apparently think their audience is all unemployed and unskilled. Not true....could be bored people waiting for The Price is Right to come on!

LOL! I've had a couple of stints (fortunately brief) of unemployment and got sucked into daytime TV. Thank goodness cable provides alternatives to Maury. I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than watch his show.

Are paternity tests the ONLY topic he covers now? OMG! Maury was doing paternity tests 2 years ago...I never watched him everyday, so when ever he was on and it was the same topic, I just thought I was getting repeats.

I do PUVA treatments at home every other day and I try to time it when Dr. Phil is on. Today was a repeat. I watched the Prez and then I watched Chertoff and Gonzalez and then "channel surfed". I should have gone to HGTV. But when I saw the train wreck, it was hard to avert my eyes.

While I don't endorse these types of shows, it is not Maury that is ruining these people's lives. They are ruining them themselves. He is just capitolizing on their mistakes on THEIR request. These women are calling and asking to be on the show and air their dirty secrets. There are much more private ways to obtain the same information.

That is very true, but Maury shares the responsibility by agreeing to provide them a forum to air their nasty laundry. He has a choice in the matter. He and his production company could easily say we're not going to facilitate this level of trash TV anymore. But he doesn't do that; he continues to produce these shows repeatedly. Both he and the people who come to air their laundry are equally guilty.
