Mattress comfort - value resorts vs. moderate

HI!

My family is FINALLY planning our very first trip to Disney! We don't plan on spending much time in the room, and will only be visiting for a few days. Transportation to the parks won't be a consideration, and we won't be using the pool or other resort amenities.

We don't mind the small rooms at the value resorts...we are more concerned with how comfortable (aka not super firm) the mattresses will be. We just want a decent night of sleep. So - just doing a little research. Will there be a noticable difference in bed comfort between (for example) All-Star Music and the Coronado resorts?

Any suggestions/advice greatly welcomed!

I could be wrong but I believe they use the same type for both the value and moderate resorts. The only difference is that the rooms in the mods are slightly bigger, the pools have slides and hot tubs at mods and there is an onsite TS restaurant (except POFQ which shares with PORS) at moderates. The bus stops at the values have specified ques but no cover, the bus stops at moderates have no ques but do have cover.

We stayed in a value resort in February and I was a little worried about the beds but honestly it was really comfy. The pillows sucked but generally pillows in hotels unless they are super high end are horrible anyhow.

So - definitely going to bring my own pillow! Thanks for the info - I have neck problems and this would have been a huge problem for me!

The S/D resorts supposedly have really great mattresses if you want to consider staying at one of those.

I am not sure if Disney uses differential mattress anywhere. But everything from the actual frame to age can change how the mattress feels. Disney did switch to a firmer mattress years back which is what we like and have slept a whole better since they did away with pillow tops. With that they are not cheaper rock hard they Have some give. I have noticed some feel softer then others and again that is age a firm mattress will get softer over time. If you like pillow tops you likely will not like Disney mattress if you have a good firm mattress Disney will likely be softer.

Can't speak to how things are now, but in the past, the value resorts (to include AoA) beds felt like a sheet on top of a mini trampoline. Hard and bouncy. Horrible to me. I get really bad hip pain on firm bouncy mattresses that don't mold to me. Couldn't sleep at AoA or Pop Century. Vowed to be done with values.

The beds at the Deluxe hotels are fantastic. Really supportive but also plush. It's been too long since I've stayed at a moderate to comment (2003 was the last time).

The new pull down beds in the values and moderates use a completely different foam mattress, and that one is very nice to sleep on. That was the only bed in the AoA suite that was actually comfortable. Any of the value rooms using those wall pull down beds will have at least one comfortable bed.

We stayed at Pop and Coronado in May. The beds seemed exactly the same to us. No difference. They were very comfortable.

We've never experienced a quality difference in the mattresses at any DW resort, the major difference was the size, double versus queen.

The only place I have ever had a bad night‘s sleep at WDW (due to a mattress) was at Beach Club Club level. The mattress was a pillow top (not my fave) that had seen better days - I had to struggle to roll out of the divot. We had stayed the previous night at Pop, and the mattress there had been great. I asked about switching rooms, and instead, they offered to bring in a new mattress. All was well.

The mattress on the pull down bed is exactly the same as the one on the regular bed (at Pop/All Stars at least, I don't know about suites).

When we stayed at Pop a few years back this was definitely the case.
Same mattress on Murphy bed as on the regular bed.
And I don’t believe it was a foam mattress, but I could be misremembering.

Okay. They must have changed it then for the newer wall pull down beds. The one at AoA Cars suite was most definitely some kind of memory foam, not an innerspring mattress.
