Matterhorn Refurb!

Going to DLR for our honeymoon June 20th-27th is there a chance they make the refurb longer? (I sure hope not!)
Everything is "subject to change" at DLR or any Disney park. Is there a chance? Well of course. Is the chance extremely small? Yes. :)

I don't suppose that shut down is long enough to put in those new cars we've been hearing about? :confused3

I'd give it a maybe, since they are doing it over two short periods. That Matterhorn is one ride that has two seperate tracks afterall.

We will be in the parks the Sunday before it closes. :( My hubby said that we would just ride it all day long on Sunday to get our fixes in. :)

At least thunder mountain is running. In 2003 at Xmas time it was closed so we didn't get to ride that mountain.

This got me thinking. Right now it's listing the 1st week as Phase I. Could that mean that one side of Matterhorn will be open while they work on the other side? Perhaps the second track is during the 2nd week? Who do I call to ask about the specifics here? This is one ride I will stand in line for hours (or maybe make sure I'm there the second they open the gates for MM). I'm crossing my fingers that I will still get a chance to ride my favorite ride.

My educated guess is they will close the whole ride and work one track the first week, finish it, open both tracks on the weekend in between, then close and work the second track the second week.

That only makes the most sense. Too dangerous to have workers out there with one side running.

Also I agree with PP who said the "rules" are changing at DLR. They've proved this over and over again. I totally believe they have had to put other things on the back burner while finishing up major new things coming to the resort and now the things that were left un done will be taken care of.

Sorry so many will miss it on their trips this year. Personally I do not ride it much anymore because it's too jerky and I bruise like crazy, but my kids sure do love it.
