Matterhorn Refurb on 7/30?

I saw today on WDW Info that Matterhorn is being refurbed starting on 7/30/18 with an unknown reopen date. Same is true for Pinocchio.

I haven't seen or heard this anywhere else, so I'm not sure if this is legit or not. Is this accurate?

Please say no. Our first DL trip is 8/3 and that would stink if it were closed.

Yep! It is sad they scheduled a refurb just now for end of summer... I‘ll miss out as well on it.

Pinocchio is also showing as closed starting on 7/30. The current DL calendar only goes through 8/3, but does have Pinocchio listed as still closed on 8/3. No additional information is currently posted on the attraction page. Good luck and hope that it opens in time for at least part of your trip.

Sad, isn't it? Our first day in the parks is July 30th. The timing is terrible. Their timing - not mine. I chose to go during the summer so we could enjoy nighttime entertainment and no ride closures.

What the heck is going on? First BTMRR and now Matterhorn for weeks? They just did a major rehab on that one with the new cars. I wonder if they are just trying to get everything they can done before next June so they can be operating everything at full capacity when the crowds get bananas.

The matterhorn is the original tube coaster and not in the best shape, I am thinking they do not like to overuse it.

I doubt they are shutting it down during peak season to avoid use ;-)

It has had 2 major rehabs in 2012 and 2017. I wouldn’t say it is not in the best of shape, it is pretty well maintained actually!

Exactly. Why would they have planned maintenance during the summer? But if there is something wrong, why wait another month and a half to fix it?

Because Fall, Christmas and Spring Break are too busy lately? Because they had so much closed with the Pixar Pier overlay they wanted to delay other closures?

I’m here now - July 5th - just rode Matterhorn. Didn’t have time to ask why it was open. But glad it was for us!

This is exactly my thought. I wouldn't be surprised to see lots of refurbs this year. Everything needs to be in tip top shape next summer.

No offense, but there are always ride closures, just not the big ticket type like they are now. Makes no diff, we go anyway and have a great time.

Of course there are ride closures. There has to be some down time for maintenance and repairs. No one is saying that shouldn't happen. But you have a better chance of riding the big draw rides during the summer and Matterhorn is one of them. It's not going to ruin our trip but we will miss it. We all have things we especially look forward to when visiting the parks and would feel disappointed if we weren't able to ride or see them. Of course, as you said, we'll still have a great time, but there's nothing wrong with feeling disappointed with summer refurbs.

Respectfully, it appears that you go a lot. For many it’s a once-in-a-lifetime trip. I understand the frustration.
