Can somebody tell me about this attraction. Would it be suitable for my mum - she's 60.
Thanks
Tracy

Well it depends on your mom - it is not a super high speed over intense roller coaster - like some new roller coasters at parks now days. It is very old and what is ironic is that the coasters today use the technology that was started by the Matterhorn way back when.

It is jerky and does toss you around - if she has any neck or back issues I would not recommend it. If she is in good health and likes a thrill, then I say go for it.

Thanks for the info. I think she'll probably sit this one out. Are the cars similar to the ones on Space Mountain?

The cars are set up where two people sit in each compartment, one between the others legs though it is easy to get the seat to yourself. It is a fairly slow ride for a coaster but because of all the rock and caves in proximity to the car it seems faste. It is a bumpy and rough ride and hurts the butt more than anythin.

Bobsled is currently down for a major renovation. If your going in the next month or so,I doubt it will be open.

Take her on Big Thunder Mountain first, if she wants to go; it's the tamest coaster of the Disneyland mountain range. If she enjoys it, the Matterhorn is next (if it's open), and then Space Mountain.

You might also try Star Tours. It's a simulator, not a coaster, but it does make you think you're going through coasterlike motions (dips, bumps, and high speeds). It's another one with neck-and-back warnings, though. Oh yeah, note on Star Tours: The further back and to the side you sit, the greater the effects will be. So if you sit front and center, you'll have a fairly mild ride, while if you sit in the last row on the edge, it'll be pretty bumpy.

While I'm on the subject, here's a Star Tours fun fact: The little G-2 droids who talk to you in the queue didn't start their lives as droids. They used to be barbershop geese from the old America Sings attraction, and the AudioAnimatronics got ported over when Star Tours opened. Check out their feet - they still look like goose feet!

Sorry but I think Matterhorn is tamer than Big Thunder Mountain. Regardless, they are both big coasters. Tame by today's standards, but only rides to be enjoyed by people that enjoy roller coasters. The good news is that you can see a lot of the Matterhorn from the ground and decide for yourself.

I love the Matterhorn ride. You can sit one to a seat and stretch your legs out. This is the most comfortable ride for tall people. In my opinion, this ride is for all ages. She'll love it.

Last time I went to Disneyland, I saw a couple in their 90's ride Space mountain! Good for them! When they got off the ride, they were both laughing and they said, "That's was fun, let's do it again!"
