With my first 2 I had semi private--no extra funds to pay for private plus I had no idea the first time around what I was in for. I was alone my first day and the second day at 2 or 3 am they brough in a lady and her dhw as with her. I had the curtain pulled but it sounded like 20 people were with her. They were so loud and inconsiderate. With ds #2 the lady I roomed with left the morning after I arrived--no one else came before I left.
Fast forward to 10 years later when I had ds #3 we were actually going to go the semiprivate but once they wheeled me into the tiny room I looked at dh and said lets get the private room. It was great, it was acutally a double with no one else in it. Dh slept in the other bed.
After finally learning my lesson we just paid ahead of time for a private room when ds #4 was born, it was wonderful.
