Maternity Clothes???

I wore my regular clothing until about 20 weeks and was induced at 38 weeks so I didn't buy that much.

My favorite items were from Gap and Old Navy. I am usually a Banana Republic/Ann Taylor/J Crew girl in regular clothing, but Gap had a lot that was very similiar in style to my regular clothing and was really well made.

I would say to only buy exactly what you need currently and don't stock up thinking you will grow into clothing. Some of the things I bought that I figured would fit me later were always too big, and I also purchased some tees that only fit for about two weeks thinking they would work for longer than they did (they were great for post partum though!).

Congrats and best wishes to you.

In addition to the above stores, keep an eye out for sales at Mimi Maternity. They have expensive stuff, but its good quality and they sometimes have great sales. I had to buy a lot of things there because a lot of the clothes at other places were too casual for my job. Ann Taylor Loft also has some good sales on their maternity stuff, and has some nice stuff. I definitely agree with Target (I even found stuff I could wear to work there) and Motherhood can have some good things, but most of it was too casual for my job. I did get some good casual things there. Motherhood is also great for maternity and nursing underwear. I never found anything that fit or looked okay on me at Old Navy or J.C. Penney. On the really cheap end, I had some pretty good luck with Ross, especially for casual stuff.

try ebay for some higher end stuff if you want that. I did not like old navy--nothing seemed to fit right. Don't go out and buy a lot right away--you can probably make your original clothes last for a while.

Even though my Old Navy did not carry maternity, they re-stocked the items other ladies returned from online, and drastically marked them down, so I got some really good deals. My favorite clothes were from the Gap, I just watched for sales. Their tees are awesome and did not fit like tents, but hugged me and were long which I needed being tall.

I have done like 75% of my maternity shopping at Motherhood Maternity. The prices (especially for the jeans) are really reasonable and the clothes are really comfortable. I especially like Secret Fit Belly jeans. These have been SO helpful for me. I'm 37 weeks right now and I can't see myself wearing any other jeans or pants right now, the Secret Fit ones are just perfect. Sadly, these are even more comfortable than my pajamas right now. :)

I have also done some shopping at Kohl's and on eBay. Kohl's often has some decent sales or clearance racks. I have also purchased a few things from JCPenney's. Decently priced maternity clothes are definitely out there! You just need to look around. :)

Also if you are just now starting to show but you aren't ready for a pair of jeans or pants I would recommend looking into a Tummy Sleeve. I've seen them at both Motherhood Maternity and Kohl's. They allow you to wear your normal jeans or pants with a material that sits over the zipper and button itself. Here's a link to the product so you can get an idea of what it looks like.

Good luck to you and have a safe and happy pregnancy!

Most of mine have come from Kohl's (they are always on sale) and Old Navy. I have been living in Old Navy yoga pants, and the only jeans that I have found to comfortably fit my every growing belly has been Old Navy! They feel just like regular jeans.

I just want to THANK YOU all for all of your help. I never really even thought there could be so many places to try, especially for affordable clothes! Again thank you all for your help, I feel so much more relaxed about it now, The first few places I found when I googled maternity clothes were so expensive, I thought I would have to buy one outft and wear it everyday!! :rotfl2:

I think in 3 times bein preggers I prolly spent 20.00 on clothes if that. Elastic waisted pants was my best friend an I could buy a size bigger an get by with them for most of the 9 months. I had 2 of mine late summer an dresses was NICE I had a pattern an made a sundress that also had a pattern for a very simple jacket this was when eyelet was very popular an I made a white eyelet jacket to wear with the sundress when it needed dressed up.

I never had many maternity clothes knowing I was only goin to need them a few months.

I know this thread is about exhausted, but I have an opinion too.

Motherhood Maternity worked better for me too because some Old Navy/Target was too casual--especially pants when I was further along. I did spend $60 (or so) on a good pair of black at Gap. That's a staple in a work wardobe.

I happened upon a BOBO Half at Payless for the next half size up shoes. I bought brown loafers and probably something black. It was winter, but I am a teacher--I stand a lot. They got packed up with the clothes.

MM is also good if you need a dress--DH was in a wedding where there were 5 of us pregnant. No one showed up in the same dress. I found their dresses to be more dressy. Not so polyester/stretchy (cheap) feeling.

AND, the saddest part, in the last 2-3 weeks, nothing fits. I had about 2-3 comfortable pairs of pants and then 2-3 others I just kept tugging on like a strapless dress on prom night (and I didn't gain that much weight, I was a week overdue).

AND, you have to wear some of them for a week or two after delivery. But I got into my fave jeans at the 3 week mark to eat lunch with colleagues.

This is my 5th pregnancy and my oldest is turning 6 in April. But, I've lost 15 lb so far this pregnancy and I'm in an XS in maternity clothes now. My stomach is growing but I'm losing my butt and thighs majorly LOL. I look so funny because my pants are soooo loose the waist. With my last pregnancy, I was able to wear my regular clothes until delivery!! I just left them unbuttoned LOL. This time even my regular clothes are baggy in the butt and thighs - Someone said I should try gap pants.

I bought a few pair of pants and a pair of shorts from Motherhood and they were way too big in the thighs - but I'm hoping maybe they will fit better later on. We shall see.
