Materials from WDW before you go?

Although we've been to WDW about 15 times, this is our FIRST stay onsite! The rest of the family has always wanted to rent a home (so we had our own pool, blah blah), but I have been going nuts trying to stay on the property. Well, I finally won - woohoo!!!

Anyway, our trip is about a month away (August 19th-30th), and the only thing we received was our receipt in the mail. Friends of ours booked through a travel agent, and received cards (the ones you use at WDW) ahead of time. Are we supposed to be receiving these in the mail, or do we get them when we get there because we booked through DisneyWorld.com? We're staying in a cabin at FW.

Thanks a ton in advance!

No one should have room cards until they check into the resort. It doesn't matter if you booked with Disney or a TA.

Did you book a room or a package?

Okay, about 3 weeks before your trip you should receive ME docs but that is about it . .(of course this is assuming you are flying in and staying onsite. . .). AAA give guests a "card" that is really just a souvenir. . .along with AAA lanyards and some kind of AAA vip parking thingy. . .other than that, I can't think of anything else that you should receive in the mail. . .

We booked the room (cabin) and 10-day MYW with park-hopper, but did the airfare on our own with AirTran.

That's so weird that they received cards in the mail. They booked through a local travel agent, and they said they were so excited when these cards came. I asked him what they look like and he said they looked like gift cards/credit cards, and they came from Disney. He said one had Donald on it, and one had Minnie on it, etc and they each got one.

They did use ME, though, and we are renting a car, so maybe that's why? It just kind of took me offguard, but I guess I should drill him more on it when I see him next :)

Are they going to any special 'hard ticket' events? If so, it could be that, like the halloween parties? They look like credit cards, and have characters on the front. Do they say anything on the back of them?

Or if they bought their tix separate or anything, they could've rec'd that. Those also looke like credit card size, but are more of a heavy paper type thing.

We were told that we wouldn't receive anything in the mail (except for the receipts of the payments). We would get all the tickets and things upon check in. I'm sort of glad so it's not something else I need to keep track of so it's not lost. They told us only time you would get anything in the mail was if you booked airfair through them or special event tickets (MNSSH and similar events).

Our last tickets (from 2003) were a heavy paper that had minnie and mickey on them (it was just DH and I).

They actually just got back after the 4th of July, and didn't go to any hard ticket events such as MNSSHP or MVMCP. I'm sooooo confused. I guess I'll have to ask them what's up!

Yeah, I'm glad they don't send much, too! Definitely don't need another thing to keep track of :)
