Matching shirts thoughts?

I thought of it but dont know what we will be doing. Most likely matching for our first day in the park maybe. We do have alot of Disney shirts though. I go to the Disney store and outlets when they have the shirts on sale or some even on clearance

We too more have theme than matching exactly. Last October, we did Jack Skellington day. All of us had on a Jack shirt but each one was different. Same for our Mickey day. We did that about 3x and then the rest of the time we stayed in the same color family.

Ok....I confess...We have clothes just for WDW:wave: They have a place in our closet and we mostly just wear them at WDW, except for the star wars shirts and my favorite jacket!!! Three of us are adults, so they fit year after year, and we have made a lot of trips....so we get some use out of them. Sometimes the 6 year old can still wear a shirt or two but he gets news one when needed. Now my BIL works at the Disney Store outlet and is always bringing us stuff home to add to the closet! We don't all have exactly the same shirt on most of the time, but we match to our day. If we are doing CP, we all wear Pooh and gang stuff.....guys will wear Tigger! For MK or Chief Mickey...Mickey Mouse. At HS, Star Wars. If we are going to a restaurant where we need nicer clothes, I will sometimes all a character emblem to a polo shirt, and the guys also have quite a few WDW ones as well. Sometimes then I will just wear a nice blouse that looks good with their colors as well.

It's really easy to pack when most of your clothes are clean and in one place, and you get tons more attention when you all have on a Tigger shirt and Tigger comes to your table, Pictures look really good, and no fighting over what kids will wear that day. "we are going to see Tigger, we have to wear our Tigger shirts....right?"

Don't make it hard or stressful! Start with a few days and look for sales and be sure that everyone is on board with the plan!

We're going to do iron ons for a few "matching" shirts on some days. For DS, I bought a pack of Hanes white t-shirts. For DH I bought individual t-shirts at Walmart for about $4 a piece (since they were slightly thicker material and not as see-through). For me, I bought a couple Walmart t-shirts and then......I picked out some of my t-shirts that had stains on them and I'm going to do the iron on over the stain. Come on, all of us who have little ones have those shirts. The strawberry icicle that got smushed down your front, the first taste of chocolate sauce that he smeared on me. The "art" project :rotfl2:

Since really the important one to look cute is DS, if DH and my shirts don't come out well, I plan on us just wearing light color t-shirts along with him.

We are doing matching/similar outfits for 1 MK day and an AK day. We may do coordinated outfits some of the other days. I plan to make sure that DS (2 yo) has a special shirt to wear each day and I will plan what DH & I wear around this. I only make clothing that we will wear when at home as well, so it isn't a waste. I also have DH help me pick out the designs, so he has no problem wearing them.

I love matching shirts- but mostly just for my 3 boys - though, DH and I have matched them on a few days, or coordinated.

I like to match my boys so I can find them faster - keeping an eye on 3 little moving bodies is so much easier when they are in the same shirt!

I like how photos look when they/we all match, too - thankfully my husband is happy to do it b/c my boys love when we all match.

:thumbsup2 This.

Some of our favorite pictures are where DS and DH have matching outfits and I have something coordinating with him. DH likes wearing his superman t-shirt when DS does, or at church, he'll make sure he's in red if DS is in red, etc. So for us, having something that matches would be cute and something we'd wear together on weekends after the trip as well.

I used to dress my three boys in matching shirts when they were little but they definitely wouldn't go for it now lol. I do like to have everyone where a team t shirt on the same day. For us it's the eagles or phillies - not the same shirt but team colors and we all have at least one already . It is easier to keep track of everyone If they are wearing same color. My husband and I will wear them too.:)

We have actualy Disney shirts that we will wear out first day at MK. They have the same picture but are all different colors with our name on them. DH will probably complain to me in confidiance but he will do it openly for the kids. Yes its tacky, but at the same time it is a cute idea. We will also be getting out Mouse ears that day!

We are all going to wear a Mickey t-shirt on the same day (one day) and it is a simple vintage T that I know we'll all wear again. I would never want to match everyday, nor would I want to buy that many shirts.

We did color days. One day we all wore red (could be stripes, solid, pattern...), another day light blue, yellow..... DH likes to wear solid colored polos so we chose the color days to go with shirts he already owned. I really liked to way the photos turned out as we were matching without matching. :rotfl:

I'm a firm believer in matching shirts for everyday-- my kids love it-- and my hubby will happlily match right along with us. Of course I own my own tshirt making business so its free publicity! Sometimes I even carry my business card with me :)

...wondering how many of these family pictures with matching shirts will end up on Ellen in the future ; )

We don't match. We're just not that cute. Three of us just don't care to be cutesy and DD17 actually changes if we inadvertently match. DH and I both favor solid shirts with khaki, navy, or black slacks on a daily basis and it makes DD17 crazy when we accidentally match up. It happens occasionally and we're both too lazy to change.

Something I've noticed this visit (here now) is that it makes it easier for others to realize you're together when crowds get heavy. Not that everyone will try not to separate your group, but many do. Often it is not intentional to break up a party, but you just can't tell who is with who.

I have made matching shirts for every day of out upcoming trip in october. Thankfully Dh is on board for anything

We LOVE matching shirts! It didn't start out so obsessive but just kind of became that way.. We would do one more each trip! Last trip just me and the hubby we had shirts 3 of the 5 days, DH said he wished he had more that it wasn't as fun :) it made me so happy. Our next trip is 11 days and I have my work cut out for me!! 4 days down 7 designs to go :p

We have been on 3 Disney trips and we had a Sea World Trip. First trip was during Thanksgiving. We had 3 shirts and a sweatshirt since it was November. Never got cold enough to wear the sweatshirt so the children wore them when we got back. We had a Crystal Palace shirt that the staff went crazy over when we came in for our ADR. We had a Chef Mickey's shirt for our breakfast there and the characters liked it. Then we had a "Happy Thanksgiving" Disney Themed shirt for that day and people kept saying "Happy Thanksgiving". Those shirts lasted quite a while, pretty much until the children grew out of them.

In 2011, I had someone make us Sea World themed ones for our trip there and we got a lot of compliments on those...bunches. My son grew out of these, but my daughter still wears hers.

For our 2nd Disney trip in 2012 I went nuts. We didn't match everyday. We probably only all matched 3 or 4 times that trip, but we each had a shirt for each day and it was a 10 day trip. Looking back, I don't know what I was thinking with all those shirts with the other projects I had. I remember I kept going through the designs and dd kept saying, "Oh, I want that on a shirt mom." I also made each of the children character meal autograph books from designs on here and invitations to each meal. That was my last trip with dd as a child and ds free so we had 7 character meals plus Ohana. Some of the shirts were ruined in the Tropical Storm, but the children still wear the ones that survived. They still look at those autograph books and the characters loved them.

This year, we went back for 8 nights and for various reasons I didn't even make one shirt. I got the children Disney Themed shirts from Wal-Mart and Chrildren's Place instead. I also got dd some pettiskirts. But I did get designs on here for invitations to the meals I reserved and dd's BBB appointment.

For 2014, I'm thinking of doing things differently and getting each person 2 or 3 shirts from etsy instead so they will last longer. I'll still do any invitations I need. Not sure about autograph books. I saw some on ebay I might order.

My daughter loves it, although she was just as happy without them this last trip. My son is too young to care. Don't have a husband so can't help there. They are fun to do and to wear. Just lots of printer ink.

We have matching shirts most days (and although dh loves Disney, I do have a problem getting him to wear a matching shirt!)
On the days we don't match, we'll do a theme (one day is almost always a guy Harvey shirt). I love matching with my family plus it does make it easier to keep up with everyone in a crowd!

On our July trip we did more of the theme route. Magic kingdom day my husband wore the old school Mickey pose on a grey shirt. My shirt was the same pose but the shirt was pink and my 2 girls wore matching pink Minnie shirts. At Hollywood studios we all wore Monsters University, hubby wore the green OK shirt I wore the pink Oozma Kappa shirt and the girls again wore matching monsters U shirts. Animal kingdom day each girl wore a Green Mickey shirt and hubby and I each wore a blue shirt, his was Avengers themed and mine was Ariel themed but they were the same blue fabric. Last October we had a blue shirt from my schools homecoming that perfectly matched a blue shirt from Michaels that we sewed a Mickey silhouette to for the girls. So we were all in the same color. We bought several shirts on the disneystore.com clearance sales or outlet sales or from Old Navy, etc. the girls wear them all the time at home and hubby and I do to. So to us it is not wasted money, we just don't wear them the same day at home :)
