Doubt we'll ever wear matching shirts, but I voted "cute."

I think the identical brightly colored ones for big groups are more useful than cute; the people wearing them can find their companions more easily, and describing what a lost child is wearing is painless. I had some good friends who used to wear the exact same thing to high school some days; I never really got the point but I don't think it's lame. So my first thought was there should have been a third category that's more neutral. "Fine" or "Okay" or "Whatever."

But then I voted cute because the posters here reminded me that the outfits people wear to Disney that are clearly matching but each unique are often pretty neat, IMHO. :)

I voted cute, but not as an everyday thing. Maybe one day out of the trip to get some fun group pics, but the rest of the days everyone shows off their own style. :goodvibes

Agree! The first year we went, we did not have matching shirts, but thought they were cute. The second year, I was not considering them, but DS asked and asked and asked if we could, so I made them to wear on one day. I honestly felt kind of silly, but we did get a lot of compliments on them!

Cute!

Dh and I (no kids) always wear either matching shirts or a "theme" shirt at WDW or on cruises. Theme shirts could just be color, Disney shirt, specific cruise line shirt we are cruising on for that particular trip (RCCL/Hollland Am/Princess), island that we are cruising to, general tropical, New Orleans shirts (LSU/Saints), etc. Helps us find each other and we get lots of compliments! It's fun! And, it adds to the fun of planning a trip.

I remember on mine and my DD's first trip I had no idea about the matching shirts and we were waiting for a Photo at HS and a family were in front of us. I told my daughter someday we will be that cool and I really ment it because I thought it was a cute idea, Well I guess the lady thought I was being sarcastic cause I got a dirty look. :confused3 So if you see this and you remember that happening. I was being serious I thought it was cute!! ALthough my DD is 13 now and I cant even get her to walk near me sometimes, let alone wear a matching shirt with me at this time.

Lame...My family would kill me, and I wouldn't blame them. Different strokes for different folks. :)

I vote cute in disney, too much if its the whole family outside in the real world.

The closest we've got,is wearing matching pjs in a hotel.
my kids were freaking in case there was a fire alarm, and we had to leave the room, all dressed the same.:rotfl2:

I think it's cute but my dh would never go for it, unless we made them all in black with mickey riding a Harley or something :)

My family did matching Mickey tie dyes last trip. The women has women's fit shirts and they looked great together. Definitely made for great pictures!

We wore matching shirts that I made for my parent's 50th Wedding Anniversary trip (one day only). Please ignore my youngest niece acting like the clown she is. And I have no idea what her brother is up to but it sure can ruin a good pic :rolleyes1

Both! Who says cute and lame are mutually exclusive?

:thumbsup2

We went to AC Moore to price out supplies for the shirts, and my sister's 17 year old daughter called us "Old Dorks." You know what? She was right and we don't care! :rotfl:

I voted cute. But as PPs have said, it's more about easily spotting my kids - and their being able to find us! Plus, there's some degree of nostalgia for me because when I was in high school my family of 8, plus my grandparents, all went to WDW. My mom had us all in matching shirts - with our names - and it was so much fun. The CMs would call us by our names and talk to us. :goodvibes

We had four different shirts for our last trip - three of which I made. So, we weren't wearing the same shirt every day, nor were we wearing the same shirt to every park. Here are two of the ones I made, the third was tie-dye. (Sorry pics are so big, this is my 1st time trying to post pictures!)

We do themes more than outright matching. Like our favoite SW charecters, or all in a different Dwarves shirt or our favorite princess or MK ride, etc.

Our family wouldn't wear matching shirts, lol. We sometimes match in colour though (all of us wearing different shades of a colour or similar).

Our last trip we did matching shirts on two of the days. Since it was a surprise trip for the kids, I gave them a shirt with many characters on the front and Disney Bound on the back. I handed them the shirts right after they finished watching a video explaining their surprise.

Then I had someone on Etsy make tie dye shirts for us, but the colors were more muted and not too bright. DH doesn't mind wearing the shirts as long as the colors aren't bright.

I don't do the womens fit shirts for myself, because I hate how the shirt clings to every lump you may have.

Love matching shirts: sports teams customs etc at WDW great for pictures and being a group as others have said ONLY at Disney though

These are the 2 times we did matching shirts. The 1st was more to keep track of the kids and were just store bought shirts I found on clearance before our trip. DH "accidentally forgot" to pack his...he took the photo below. The 2nd was our big family Xmas trip 2011. BIL made these shirts just to irritate the teen boys (whose shirts were immediately covered with a hoodie after this picture below was taken). I am thinking of having shirts made up for this Xmas trip (same group...all my inlaws...15 of us).

I voted cute. But, for me, they are a Disney thing. In real life, kind of lame.
