I wanted to see if anyone has dined at Ohana and saw families wearing matching outifts. My dd has seen the ads of families in matching outfits and always thought it was neat. It happens that my dd (9) and I were at the Disney Store when the Blue Tiki outfits were on clearance. We were able to get matching tank tops and skirts for us and matching shirts for my dh and ds (6). They will wear khaki shorts they already have with the shirts. My dh isn't too thrilled. He thinks we will look silly. I told him it was just for one evening. My dd and ds are looking forward to it.
Feedback please:)
TIA

Perhaps we are silly but we love having at least one matching outfit at WDW!!! We would never do it at home but I guess you can call us a dorky family because we do alot of silly things on vacation! I say go for it!!!!

Thanks so much for your input. I agree with you. At home all of us wouldn't wear matching outfits - but it is Disney!
Have a magical day:thumbsup2

No, you won't look silly at all! We usually see a couple families a day wearing matching/coordinating clothes at Disney! LOL, DH and I even wore matching shirt/dress when we went without the kids, the night we went to 'ohana for dinner because they tropical disney themed fabrics. I just ordered all 5 of us matching Disney shirts (lime green!) from disneyshopping.com for $4.99 each and ordered matching shirts for DH and the boys and dresses for DD and me, also on clearance, maybe $7.99 each? It was a week or so ago, but they were cheap enough and I was excited to get them for our Nov DL trip! Would we dress all matching anywhere else.....no, but at Disney, it's fun!

I say go for it, especially if your kids are excited about it!

We have done it a few times at Disney. Everything from wearing the same t-shirts, having the girls dressed the same and sometimes the boys to match. Even at 12 & 13yrs old the boys do not complain at all. They kinda realize mom is silly and they might as well go along with it.

Tell your DH not to worry. It will look great. Has he seen what some people wear? Your outfits sound awesome.

While we do not do it here at home, sometimes when we are going out I'll give to boys shirts to wear...collared golf shirt....that are of the same color but not matching....more like co-ordinating.

Two yr ago, I had everyone dressed in Red, White and Blue for our Chef Mickey's dinner. I really wanted to buy the pictures, as this was a great opportunity to have a family pic done. So the girls wore the same dresses and the rest of were co-ordinating. It really turned out awesome.

Thanks for your input also. I'm sure once dh is down there and we are at dinner, he won't think it is that big of a deal.
1 more day to WDW:cool1:
Have a magical day!

Thanks! Our (my) mind is definitely made up--matching outfits it is:yay:

Another matching family here. And wait until you get the pictures back! They look great when you are all coordinated.(we don't always match but we have color days - like red shirt days, green shirt days so dh will go along.) And honestly I think DH likes the attention.:rotfl2:

We always match during every day of our trips...and that was for 9 days in May & we also just got back from a 10 day trip.
We have about 10 matching sets of t-shirts, and also long-sleeved tees, sweatshirts, etc.

We went to 'Ohana for breakfast (there were 8 of us) & we all wore matching Lilo & Stitch shirts that read "Aloha" on them.

We also wore matching outfits to dinner there.

It looks great in pictures!!

I bbought matching outfits from the blue tiki line to wear to Ohana's. DH wasn't thrilled about it, but said ok to make me happy.

DH and our oldest DS having matching shirts that they wear to 'Ohana every time we visit. We were just talking tonight about buying a one for our youngest DS for our upcoming visit in November. We bought the shirts at the Poly.

We bought the postcards dresses and Dh a shirt to wear when we go again. Even Dh said he wouldn't mind wearing it. He loved that resturant.;)

We always have one day with matching outfits. The pictures look great and my DH is willing to humor me.

Lot's of people do it but some people , it's just not their thing. This might be your hubby. Of course maybe you could show him some pics of families on te Dis- so he'll see he won't be alone. Also, pull at his heart strings, it's something your DD wants and if your hubby is anything like mine, what DD wants DD gets!!:rotfl: My FIL even wore a matching WDW t-shirt the last time we went so I KNOW there's hope for your husband!!

There are some cute hawaiin inspired outfits at the boutique clothing thread. On the first page there is a photo album w/ pictures from the posters- check it out for some ideas (though they're mostly kids)

not all of us but my daughters will.

Here is their outfit, in this pic it wasn't finished.. a floral mickey was added to the shirt. :

My 1yo son is wearing a shirt that has stitch and says here comes trouble with his name. Cant get the 14yo to wear anything fun lol

My dd's have matching outfits for about 5 out of our 10 day trip, and I have a couple of the shirts that match there shirts that picked up at our local disney store...plus we all have a matching outfit for our OHANA night(TIKI BLUE sets) and we all have a tyed dyed mickey shirt to wear the night we do chef mickeys. My husband would never do it at home but its a family vacation so he actually enjoys doing this type of thing at Disney.

Does your DH have to match? I thought I would never be the matching outfit kind....but when I had a red Hawaiian shirt for my oldest son and I found two red Hawaiian sun dresses for my girls at the resale shop for $3 each, I just had to get red Hawaiian shirts for my 3 youngest sons. The six of them looked so cute at Ohana for breakfast with Lilo and Stitch.

We didn't do it last time, but we are this time. We are going to do it at MK one day too.

We did a family matching day at MK and at Chef Mickeys the night before our first big park day (it was last year's red Hawaiian stuff from the Disney Store) - dh actually liked it and the girls LOVED it (they match every day, though!). Our pics look great and we got soooo many compliments all day long. At home, maybe not - but it's Disney and vacation and that makes it all okay!!!! Have fun!!!

PS - I got the Tiki stuff for next summer, too! Although I didn't get dh the blue shirt (now I'm thinking he's going to feel left out! YIKES!) since he has several button-down Disney shirts already - he did get the tan t-shirt, though so maybe that will be good enough (let's hope!)

We always wear matching shirts to 'Ohana. Myself and my boyfriend (in our 40's) and my boyfriends son (now 18). We have been doing this for at least the past 5 years and we all do it - the teenager has never complained - he always looks forward to this. This past July he brought his 18 year old girlfriend with him and my boyfriend and I wore matching hawaiian Disney shirt and son and girlfriend wore matching hawaiian Disney shirts (I have extras so she borrowed one). It made for great pictures. I also purchased matching Mickey flag shirts for the four of us (the grey ones for us and the red one for the kids) from Disney shopping website. We all wore them on July 4th in Epcot. His girlfriend even went out and bought us the matching July 4th ears so we wore them with our shirts. If I can ever learn how to post pictures I will do this.

My friends are always amazed that the teens would wear matching shirts with us but it is something we have been doing for years and we would not do it any other way.

Linda
