Has anyone gone to this??
It looks fun, (I used to love watching the newlywed game!)
How do they choose the contestants? What sort of questions do they ask?:D

we have gone to this iit is like the newly wed game
it is great fun dont want to give every thing away but go and enjoy

Basically they look for 3 types of couples: newlyweds, married about 15 years and then married for close to 50 years. On my cruise they wanted people who were enthusiastic and they chose really good couples.

Sample questions:

Where did you make magic in the most exotic place?
Which of your spouse's relatives would you leave behind on a deserted island?

I really enjoyed this event, you will too!

Believe it or not we only saw two "shows" on the entire cruise. This one and Disney Dreams. match Your Mate was hilarious, and it was even funnier as our table mates were chosen as one of the couples. When we saw them the next day our only words were "More than we needed to know!" :o :D :)

This is a great game show....but alot depends on the contestants and how much they are willing to divulge....it also helps to have a great host who knows how to play up the questions/answers....

Some other questions were:

Who was your last boyfriend/girfriend and what does your wife/husband think of them?

What character most reminds you of your husband as he is just stepping out from the shows....Hercules...Prince Charming...the Beast....Goofy....or.....Pinocchio?

What is the first thing your husband touches in the morning?

Where was the most interesting place you ever "DISCOVERED THE MAGIC"? (The contestants during our 1/4 Magic cruise let us all know they used secret Deck 7 Aft....I guess they qualify for the veranda club!!!!)

Guys....if your wife is stuck at home with kids and can't get to the store and she calls you up and asks you to go shopping on your way home from work and pick her up some bras....what size would you get?

I would love to get DH in on this, but he can be so conservative.
I actually have the same concern about trying 50's Prime Time at MGM!
We might just be better off watching!

MJ, I remember that show! ;)
We had met that newly couple while embarking, and then we ran into them throughout the cruise. They looked very innocent, but between that and Magicquest ("Two points for two points"), we were rolling on the floor!

Barb....they were a very "interesting"..couple we kept running into them all cruise also.....did you know she wore her wedding dress on formal night?? I don't know, call me old fashioned, but even if I just got married three days before I don't think I would wear my wedding gown again, to formal night. But, that's just me.

How old do you think they were....maybe 18 and 19????

For the record....I'm quite sure that my DH has NO IDEA what my bra size is!

We won on 9/2001 Wonder cruise! There were no newlyweds, we were chosen because we had been married the least amount of time - 4 years! Some of our questions were:

Where did you make your most memorable "magic"? :o
What would your spouse say is your most annoying trait?
Which relative of your spouse's would you most like to leave on a deserted island?

The other couples did HORRIBLY! I was embarassed for one in particular - he may have spent the night alone on deck! :)

My DH and I will be celebrating our 10th anniversary on the 3-9-03 cruise, and I'd love to participate! I guess I'll have to tell him my bra size;) ! Any advice on how to get chosen?

Maybe a little off the beaten path but, my DW and I were playing the Match your Mate game at a function one time. We weren't doing all that well until the 25 point bonus question came up.

Just before we left the house, I asked my DW what kind of undies she had on, I was trying to cover all the bases. The 25 point bonus question was, "Men, what color underwear is you wife wearing tonight, white, color, or other?" Since I checked with my DW before we left the house, we got that question right!

By the way, the function was held in May, and was called "The Mayflower Connection" and my DW was wearing flower print undies! It was the only question we got right, and we finished in 2nd place!

So gents, if you ever get in this game, it pays to check what your DW is wearing.

Before the game show begins, the host asks around the room how many years people have been married from the least to the most and inbetween.

From those couples he picks the ones that are the most enthusiastic.....he says if you really want to play, show me how enthusiatic you are.....people start waving, jumping up and down in their seats, etc.

They really would not want a couple who was conservative or that would hold back....they are looking for people with personality and enthusiasm!!! Not the type of game to con your spouse into if they did not really want to play.

We were on the 11/03/02 - 11/07/02 cruise and my parents were chosen because they were the longest married couple that night (34 1/2 years!!!).

It was so funny - they did sooooo bad!! We (the kids) learned a lot - I don't think they wanted to reveal too much information because we were in the audience.

DCL gave each couple a nice consolation prize.

If you have the opportunity to go - enjoy - it is a scream!!

I would SOOOOO love to do this, but I think that my husband would rather walk the plank than do it! (Guess that is what I get for marrying an introvert!) So I've never actually suggested that we try. :)

DH and I were in Match Your Mate on our cruise last Oct. We were couple #3 ( married more than 25 years) We started losing right from the first question, so we just played up to the host:D some of the questions:
What is the most unusual place you two discovered the "Magic"
What kind of animal does your husband resemble the most.
Will your spouse say you are a 1:dove 2: robin red breast or 3:swallow
What is your spouse's most annoying habit?

I really want to play this game! I know I'm crazy but I think it would be really funny to answer some of these questions with my DH. We've been married 22+ years and it would be such a hoot to see if we matched. (We were married VERY YOUNG, of course). Hey CMs.....PICK US NEXT YEAR!!! I promise it will be FUN!

Yes, watch out for Prime Time. Our "cousin"/waiter found out we were celebrating our anniversary and had us 'feed' each other cake. See this picture for a glimpse of the feeding frenzy!

Ahhh, it was fun!

It sounds like fun!!! I don't know If I could ever be a contestant though. I would probably "light" up the ship if they asked me some of those questions.... (we are going w/ My Grandma and Aunt!! ) (that would just make it harder!:D
