MasterGuard Fire Systems...

we went to a dinner last nite where they talked about their systems (which sounded great).. they don't sell anything at the dinners, they come out to your home and talk to you, make suggestions on what you need and then quote a price... although any price is worth keeping my family safe... i was just wondering if anyone here has any experience with them?? i did google them, but didn't come up with much good or bad...thanks in advance for any info!!

The big downside to these are they are not actual fire alarms, meaning if there's smoke they won't go off, there needs to be actual fire near them. It's much safer (and cheaper!) to get a couple regular First Alerts and put those in instead.

Not exactly true...MasterGuard (and a similar company DeTech) promotes a system of heat detectors and smoke detectors. So one detector for detectable levels of smoke and one for detectable levels of heat-which in many fires occurs before detectable levels of smoke.

Excellent products that will last a lifetime....so while much more expensive than a smoke detetor from Wallyworld thay will last and more importantly they will do the job they are meant to do...not fail 50% of the time like the kind the big box stores sell.

We had a demonstration, and attended a dinner like you did. It's a great product but it would have been over $3000 to "outfit" our 800 sq. foot home (4 rooms!). I would have liked to have it, but we don't have, and probably never will have that much money to put towards a system like that.
