My understanding (correct me if I'm wrong), is the FDA is there to make sure foods are labelled accurately and that they do not pose an immediate threat (poison, etc).

Getting in the business of telling me what types of food I can and cannot eat is way over the top IMO. There's no line to draw then. If they can ban trans fats, why not other fats? Why not sugar? Why not anything that might remotely be construed to cause a long term health problem if not eaten in moderation?

The purpose of the FDA is to make sure the food is labelled accurately, kept in clean facilities, and is safe to eat. This mandated by the federal government, and not the state level.

The Commonwealth is going beyond making sure you know what you're eating and that you're not going to get mad cow disease from eating it. they're taking away your right to decide whether or not it's worth it to eat a cake from a bakery that uses crisco.

You can't be trusted to do what's right for yourself so the government's going to do it for you. I'm tired of this crap. A few people can't pull themselves away from the Mickey D's counter long enough to process whatever it is they just ate, so they get a few touchy-feel-good politicians to pass a bill for them. What a bunch of crap.

Dunkies might be fine if the trans fat used in their lard is naturally occurring.

I can see it now. We'll have trans fat dealers, and suppliers. They'll be trafficking Oreos and Potato Chips. People will get shot over this crap.

But I think they really just want to tax this stuff. They'll make it illegal, repeal the laws, but add hefty taxes like they do with cigarettes.
