wondering if anyone went to the JFK library while senator kennedy was there or if anyone went out to see the motorcade go off to hanscom today?

If it had been possible, my DD and I would have been in Hyannisport Tuesday, Boston on Friday and Saturday, and on to Arlington for the burial today.. Unfortunately, there was no way we could pull it off.. :(

Yes - we're among those who did and do admire the Kennedy's - and no, we're not residents of Massachusetts..

My mother went to the Hyannisport memorial.

She grew up in Hyannisport and knew the family when she was a little girl (from taking sailing lessons with some of the same age family members). She was especially fond of Ed & Eunice & has very fond memories of them from when she was a child.

I did not go - I wish I had watched the motorcade go by on their way from the cape up to boston, but I let my kids tak me out of it and watched on tv instead. I live very close to rt 3 - should have gone!

I was glued ot the funeral all day yesterday - it was beautiful! I loved the readings and music, but especially Teddy Jr's eulogy. Very touching! I think that President Obama put htings into perspective when he said that the tragedies in Senator Kennedy's life would have "broken a lesser man". Well said.

While we don't forget Mary Jo Kopekne and admit that Senator Kennedy amde some pretty bad decisions as a younger man, his legacy is one of hard work for those less fortunate.

I took my mother over to Carson Beach in Southie on Thursday to see the motorcade on its way to the JFK library. It was a great spot to view it, not overly crowded. My mom wanted to go the library but she could not have stood in the lines. On Friday morning my DS (11yo) and I went to the library, we waited in line about an hour and 10 minutes, we met several family members, Robin Lawford, Vicki Lawford, Timothy Shriver and Kara Kennedy and her children, they were all so thankful for everyone coming. Kara even took the time to introduce her children to my son. It was so moving, I am so glad we went.

I live near Hyannisport, on Thursday I went for a run down by the compound. There were a ton of cops and media everywhere. They had the rodes blocked off.
Then on Friday we went off Cape and on the ride back we saw the motorcade from the other side of the rode. It was amazing to see the people who lined the streets and highways from Hyannis all the way to Boston. People were pulled off to the side of the highway just waiting. Some people waited for about 2 and 1/2 to 3 hours because they were running late. If you loved him or hated him it was truly a sight to see. I will never forget it.
