Mass Shooting at Orlando Club

Eddie Justice was the son of Mina Justice. This was the young man who was sending his mother text messages in the midst of the shooting. He was trapped in the bathroom. She last heard from him at 2:51am. He did not make it. :(

Did he make it? I assume not based on what you are saying. As a parent I literally feel like I could throw up thinking about being in that situation.

Sadly, he did not make it. :( Me too. This story and the Mom who was frantic that she couldn't get any update on her son, just tears my heart out.

We prayed for the victims and their families at Mass yesterday. I was so shocked as I hadn't heard anything about the terrorist attack before I got to church.

So sad to get texts like that from your baby and knowing that you couldn't save him.

More from Dad, in the Washington Post:

"Mateen’s father, however, called his son “very dignified.” In a video posted to Facebook shortly after midnight, Seddique Mateen, who lives in Florida, called the shooting “tragic” but said his son was “a good son and an educated son.”

He said his son shouldn’t have carried out the massacre because “God himself will punish those involved in homosexuality.”

“I don’t know what caused him to shoot last night,” said the father, who has hosted a U.S. -based television show on Afghan affairs and describes himself as an important figure in his homeland."

Omar worked as a contractor for the DHS and had a special security license (how did he keep his job and the security license?) He was known at work to make remarks supporting ISIS. His father knows what caused him to shoot and kill people (behind doors he is probably smiling).

Whoever said the apple doesn't fall far from the tree is so right.

This is what is so scary. These hateful thoughts are developed by parents from childhood. Just as he taught his son to hate homosexuals, many many others are taught to hate all western infidels.

His coworkers even reported him to the FBI, which is what prompted one of the investigations.

This is just awful and these sort of stories are happening way to much it is sickening. My heart goes out to all the victims and their families. This sort of stuff is just senseless.

In times like this, I wonder what it took to get people during WWII to come together and realize they were in the fight of their lives. Maybe it was Pearl Harbor. But if 9/11 didn't do that for us, I'm scared to think what it will take.

The major problem with terrorism is it will be fighting a never ending battle unfortunately. You eliminate one terrorist group and another one forms. These hateful people are all over the place. They just aren't in the Middle East or Serbia, they are right in your own back yard in some cases. It is scary.
