Masks at HHI in June

They are fully in compliant with the Town of Hilton Head's policy. The DVC Resort has opted to expand their own policy beyond the town's, as is their right.

The state of South Carolina has never had a mask mandate in place. Individual counties, cities, and towns have opted to initial and enforce their own policies. Hilton Head Island is one of those communities with such a policy and Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort is within the area covered by that policy and even made their own policy a little more exclusive.

You can say "The DVC Resort has opted to expand their own policy beyond the town's, as is their right", and "The DVC resort cannot change their current policy until the town modifies their current policy, and, even then, the resort may still continue their policy as their own choice", but you can't say both of them. One is true and one is not. You are very against mask disinformation and like to close down dissenting threads, but here you are with two conflicting statements back to back. One statement is disinformation, which one is it? End-of-story.

Thank you, WebmasterDoc, for the information. I am confused, however, as it seems others are, why Disney cannot relax their mask policy for outdoors. They would still be complying with the policy on the rest of the island.

I guess I don't see the problem. A place of business can have more constraints on masking, distancing, etc. than local/county/state law requires, but it cannot have fewer, and that's whatl Doc seems to be saying.

Actually, if I'm reading it correctly, he is saying that Disney can't change their policy until the county government changes theirs. I think that is true if they are wanting to totally take away mask requirements (which would go against the county policy), but I don't think it's true if they want to relax their own policy of requiring masks outdoors (thus still being in compliance with local government policy).

The DVC Resort is governed by the town of Hilton Head. It is not governed by Beaufort County (unless the town has no local policy). Disney can relax their policy as long as it still complies with the town policy. If you require an explanation for Disney policy going beyond the town's, you are not likely to get a knowledgeable response in this thread until a Disney representative offers it. I don't know why the DVC Resort has chosen to exceed the local policy. Perhaps a quick call to the resort or MS will provide the definitive answer you seem to require.

If you want to play a semantics game, then it's time to close this thread. The local policy that all businesses must follow has been provided along with the current expiration date of that policy, which has been extended for additional months every two months for a long time now. Some (including the DVC Resort) have decided to take additional measures, which is their right.

Just like the United States of America, SC has never had a mask requirement, but a number of counties, cities and towns have chosen to implement such policy. Disney has decided to implement a policy even beyond the boundary set by the town, county or state.

It appears that the topic of the thread has been answered using the advice currently available (several times now) and there is no further need for this thread.
