Masks at HHI in June

As close to 100% as possible. Disney won’t relax mask rules at any US property until they can do it at all properties. And Disney will most likely be among the last places to relax safety guidelines. June is too early. October-November...maybe.

Keep in mind that Disney's standards at VB, HHI and even WDW exceed local standards for masking. I would expect that to continue.

No one can know BUT it stands to reason that even if the community/HHI itself were to drop the mask requirement, Disney and its properties would still keep it IF it is part of an agreement with the Union and cast members - a lot of where this is coming from is maintaining safety for CM's - according to previously made deals when everything reopened.

I can see HHI (meaning the actual town/island) potentially dropping it before the resort does.

You should expect to still wear masks in June in my opinion. Who knows where the USA will be in numbers vaccinated.

My two cents ... Heard immunity in the U.S. will (hopefully) be later this year. Heard immunity in other countries is another issue. I can't see Disney doing away with masks until 2022 at the earliest.

No one really knows. I am optimistic, though. I've read that they hope to have vaccinated everyone who wants one by June.

Are you asking because you want it required or are you asking because you hate masks? Masks are not required at the pool. It’s a different ballgame when I was there in September once you cross the bridge off of Disney property. Only time since covid I thought we might get covid. We actually cancelled a wdw trip and went to Disney Hilton head instead because wife thought wdw was more of a chance of getting covid.
we have since went back to wdw in December and leave next week for wdw again. We felt Disney Hilton head is more dangerous than wdw. Disney Hilton head is safe but like I said before it’s a different ballgame once you cross the bridge at least it was in September.

And that is your freedom of choice. I personally will choose vacations at places that don’t require me to wear a bacteria incubator on my face. I live where masks aren’t really a thing, and infection rates somehow aren’t high. Almost like there’s no correlation?

I know. The masks are completely disgusting. And very frustrating if you’ve already had the virus. Like I’m immune already. Leave me alone. And stop with the maybe your immunity isn’t there any more. It’s a virus, not an alien invader. It works like a virus. (It’s not even a particularly lethal virus, but never mind.) Basic immunology. But apparently our “experts” didn’t take that course in med school. Yes, I’m bitter at this point. You’re right. In areas where people don’t wear masks, there are fewer cases. But the mask promoters don’t like to highlight that information. You have to dig a bit on your own to get it.

I'm going to try to get some predictions again now that we are closer to the summer. Hopefully this time, debates won't happen as that is not what I am wanting from starting this thread.

Now that Disney has relaxed the face mask policy, I'm wondering if they may relax it further closer to summer to not require them outdoors. We have moved our HHI trip from the first week of June to the last week of July in hopes that they may relax the policy by then. HHI is super hot in the summer, so we are hoping we won't have to wear masks outdoors.

I think as others have said, masks will be required at all or none of Disney's U.S. properties. So, in short watch California and see when we lift restrictions, then expect about 2 to 3 months after that.

I don't see Disney eliminating mask requirements on the east coast and not the west coast, it would lead to too much confusion among guests. Although, I hope I am wrong.

That being said, I was just reading that several of the "experts" are now predicting we will have herd immunity by Memorial Day at the latest.

Currently at HHI, masks are worn on disney property going from your room to the pool, beach house, and car. Once you cross the bridge we only needed them to enter shops and put our name in for dining. Numerous opportunities for outdoor dining. What we've been seeing is adults unmasked, with masked children. We're assuming the adults are vaccinated in this scenario.

Yes, we were there in October just the two of us, and that is what is was like (except the unmasked adults). Our issue is that this is a family trip, and there are members of our family who like to spend many hours fishing from the pier. If they spent hours at the pool, they wouldn't have to wear masks, but they aren't pool people. On the fishing pier, they will have to wear masks, and they aren't willing to do that in the July heat.

That is a huge factor, particularly at WDW. And it will depend on whether "vaccine passports" become acceptable - i.e. if you can turn away anyone who isn't vaccinated, you don't need masks. But with international vaccination rates being significantly slower than the U.S., and a political dislike of "vaccine passports," I think we are masking for a LONG time at any Disney owned tourist destination.

No vaccines currently approved for children.
Vaccinated adults can still spread the virus.
Disney has many children at their resorts.
Masks will be required.
