Mask mandate doubled down--keep them on while dining?

I'd be very surprised if this would be enforced after your drinks arrive. I don't think you'll have to take them off to drink, then mask back on. We leave ours on where we live anyway until the drinks arrive and put them back on after we finish while waiting to pay. I suspect this is mostly for the people that hang out 30 minutes after finishing their meals just to chit chat.

I don't get how this will work or what the criteria are. It's hard enough to get a chunk of people to follow the current guidelines. How long can I go between bites or sips before I'm no longer "actively eating or drinking"?

I just wonder if they're planning to seat more people and are using this policy change (?) to justify doing so.

Where are you getting twelve times per meal from?
I have read it to mean that you cannot remove your mask until your first drink is served. The mask can stay off until you have finished eating and drinking completely. I guess if others at your table are still eating or drinking, but you have finished you will have to put your mask back on.

So they want us to touch our masks to pull them down, and put them on what, twelve times per meal?

It’s so nonsensical as to actually be laughable. Either they want restaurants open or they don’t.
This was actually being enforced like this at Miami dolphin games and is currently being enforced at Florida panthers hockey games. Annoying yes but I’m glad to live somewhere that is allowing fans at games.

People are really overreacting to this. A minor change for the guest, but can positively impact the CM by reducing their overall total exposure to maskless guests pretty significantly over the course of a long shift. People seem to think their server only serves them ... while they are in contact with dozens of unmasked people constantly all day. Reducing their total exposure is respectful, courteous and logical.
When are you going to WDW and experiencing this "mInor inconvenience"? I'm leaving tomorrow.
I had no problem with wearing a mask continuously both in the 90 degree heat outside and inside, but to require guests to wear their masks between bites at sit down restaurants? It's excessive.
If Disney were really concerned about the COVID spread, they'd close the restaurants..in an abundance of caution.

Disney’s current cancellation rules allow you to cancel right up until the last day. Problem solved.

12 times? Keep it on to order, take it off when food and drink arrive. Put it on when you’re done eating and drinking.

I think it’s pretty clear that people are probably turning TS meals into their own personal mask relaxation stations. Ripping their masks off the minute they sit down and probably lingering long after the meal for extra mask break time. They just want to limit their CM’s overall exposure to unmasked people. They see dozens of unmasked people constantly through the day during long shifts. Why not limit their overall exposure and provide a safer experience for them?

So many people complaining about this slight mask change were so concerned about CMs when they were furloughed. Yet won’t take one small step to help provide a safer environment for them to work. Pretty sad.

This is such a minor change. I just can’t believe everyone is losing their minds over it. My little kids would have no problem with it, but grown adults are whining. That is what is laughable 🤣

Where on earth are you getting between bites? This is so overblown and misinformation abounds. There is nowhere that says you need to wear a mask between bites.

I'm reading the posts on this thread. I'm reading the post from Disney. "If you are not actively eating or drinking, wear a mask. "
If I am wrong, I am delighted!

People seriously drive me crazy. They will extrapolate anything to make it fit whatever they want it to.
If wearing a mask for an extra 5 minutes before eating a meal is a dealbreaker, you probably shouldn't be going to the parks now anyway.

This is already the rule at Downtown Disney in Anaheim. You must keep your mask on until food/drink arrive and put it on after you’re done eating and drinking (in case you end up sitting around for 30 minutes just hanging out and chatting.)

There is precedent for this rule already on Disney property in California. This is the rule there. They don’t have to mask between bites. That’s completely made up.

Excellent. As I said, I was basing my comments off what I was reading on the thread.
So basically, it's the same rule that I have been abiding by since the start of the pandemic.
Were masks not required prior to this announcement?

You could take them off as soon as you sat down.
