Mask brand for toddler

Now I’m wondering if we should even practice mask wearing with him. Idk what to do anymore. I guess it won’t hurt if we at least try.

I'd rather practice than not. I don't see masks going away in healthcare settings any time soon (if ever) and in some parts of the country, I think veterans day to valentines day they'll be heavily recommended.

Did you mean Valentine’s Day through Memorial Day?

I purchased 2 masks from Old Navy. The Minnie ones are cotton inside outside and have a small white Disney tag bottom right of the mask and lay flat in a cover. I tied a single knot (as in the video below) to adjust them to our 2 year old’s face.

The Mickey ones came folded and are polyester on the outside (hard to breathe through); no disney tag on the bottom outside of the mask and they have a Chinese certification. They look and feel counterfeit. They have Yoda ones available but I would say do not buy those as they don’t have the Disney tag and are probably polyester.

I ended up ordering some crayola ones from Amazon

My kids really like the protect styles masks although they're a little pricey and tend to take a long time to ship. My youngest has been wearing them since he was 4 (so not quite a toddler).

We've also had a lot of success with kf94 masks. I find these to be the most comfortable for wearing for a long while, as they stay away from your nose and mouth well, which makes them more comfortable when it's warmer as well.

We use masks that have elastic that go around my toddler's head. Shes not great at masking, and this helps it at least stay on her head. I've also heard some airlines permit double layered gaiter. I suggest using those to practice if your kid hates the sensation of something touching their face. What works with us is playing "peek a boo" (which works well with the masks that go around her head) and then immense cheering like you've never heard before.

Happy Masks! Our toddler had to change masks 2-3 times to make it through his preschool day(we have mask mandates in our area). With a Happy Mask he will wear it all day without a single complaint. It's the beaked nose that keeps it off of their mouth and dry that does the trick.

Agree with this, my son is in kindergarten and I got Happy Masks this year. He loves them. His school dropped the mask mandate this week and he said he still wanted to wear it!! I’m not complaining…we haven’t had Covid…yet… (knocks on every piece of wood I can find).

We just got these as disposables and they are really nice...not cheap, but not $100 either.
Wovenx - FDA Registered, 4 Ply Disposable Kids Face Mask 15 Pack, Adjustable Earloops, Individually Sealed https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B08NWWQ...t_i_QAXFBXCB6MZFNQ9CTV2M?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

We also have these ones in white (which are unavailable) that my son has been wearing from about 2 1/2 yrs old...he's 4 now and still finds these the most comfortable.
Limited-time deal: Bloch unisex child Soft Stretch Reusable (Pack of 3), Black, Kids Face Mask, Black, 3 Count Pack 1 US https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B087N5G..._dl_4H317VSS7429RDC79RA5?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

The disposable masks are a bit stiff for our 2 year old (we got the expensive dr Talbots) and she only wears the Gap (kids contour adjustable; I attached a lanyard for glasses at the end so they don’t pull on her ears) or the Old Navy Minnie masks (extra soft straps - no attachments but I put a knot on one side of the strap to tighten them). She’s done 1 hour with them and bring a them to me when she wants the iPad.

Those Wovenx ones Inposted a link to above are amazingly soft for paper masks, like almost cloth like. My 4yr old son wore his for hours one day last week, no problem. He still likes the cloth ones, but for WDW, I think the disposable ones will be better in park or on the flight to Orlando. And those Wovenx ones finally met what he wanted for comfort.

Lutema brand - www.lutema.com - offers extra small or small kids' sized masked (disposable) - they are the closest i could find to KN95. They are not that category, but they are 4-layer made in USA.

I believe the CDC came out a few months back and said cloth masks do very little to protect. As much as I hate disposable items, I'd rather have something that works.

FRESH OFF THE PRESSES- Beginning February 17, 2022, Face coverings will be optional for fully vaccinated Guests in both outdoor and indoor locations. We expect Guests who are not fully vaccinated to continue wearing face coverings in all indoor locations, including indoor attractions and theaters. Face coverings will still be required by all Guests (ages 2 and up) on enclosed Disney transportation, including Disney buses, monorails, and Disney Skyliner. https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/experience-updates/#drawer-card-faceCoverings

I think if you're in that 2 to 4 range, just do the best you can if you're going to the parks starting February 17 (and can get there via a car)

Unfortunately, kids under 5 can't be vaccinated yet. How much harder will it be to get them to wear masks when a lot of vaccinated adults and older children aren't wearing them.

I wonder if previous infection within 90 days count as vaccinated for the little ones?

Guess we will use the great suggestions above (thank you all!) and practice mask wearing!

Oh, great point about the previous infection within 90 days...now I am wondering that, too.

Even Dr.’s notes/diagnosis didn’t work with airlines. If you need a mask exception, make sure to get an approval at least 24 hrs (or whatever the airlines deadline is) ahead of the flight.

Good idea.

I am not worried about the flight, we all have to wear masks on flights anyway. It is at the parks where so many won't be wearing masks indoors and we will have to try to keep a mask on the unvaccinated four year old.

When the mask rules were relaxed last year, our then 4 year old had no problem wearing masks at the parks as he was already wearing a mask to preschool. If we were eating and he wasn’t he would wear his mask, but we also continued wearing it in congested areas (even though we were vaccinated). He pointed out people and us not wearing masks but we told him that as long as he wears a mask it protects him and then it was no big deal.

In June it did get really hot so I gave him a neck fan (hung on a diaper bag facing him; we have a Joovy caboose sit stand stroller). Also, make sure you have electrolytes. He was getting fussy within a few hours and I had a water bottle with liquid IV+Vit C and he drank 1/4 of it and was happy. Also we fill him up with protein before heading to the parks (fish sticks).

The only time he threw the mask off was when we were waiting for ROTR and the ride broke down for 2 hrs (highly recommend leaving after 30-40 mins). There were no announcements so we kept hoping it was going to restart and it was our only park day. I had a small paper pad and pen that he used up drawing horses and leftover popcorn, some chocolate, a water bottle and a charger. We eventually had to bribe with pool time and then games on the phone.
