Mascara quest....

Ok folks, I'm on a quest for the perfect mascara. I would like something that lengthens AND thickens AND curls (I can't deal with an eyelash curler and they don't seem to work for me anyway). I'm open to drugstore and high end mascaras. I'm ok with waterproof as long as it doesn't take a chisel to remove it.

Please tell me what you've tried and why you liked or hated it.

Thanks!

My current favorite if Maybelline XXL. My eyelashes have a natural curl to them, so I don't know the curl factor.

I always seem to find L'oreal to have the best Mascara. It is identical IMHO to Lancome sine that is their parent company but just much cheaper.

DO NOT purchase Borghase (SP) it is very expensive and the worst mascara I have ever used.

According to Paula Begoun's "Do Not Go to the Beauty Counter Without This Book" best mascaras are

Almay , Christian Dior, Cover Girl, Lancome, Mac, Trish McEvoy, to name just a few.

You might go to some of the make up message boards Makeup Alley to name at least one and see what they are saying.

Maybelline Great Lash is all I used...I've tried everything and I love that stuff!

I use a fairly high-end mascara that comes off with warm water. The mascara seals onto your lashes, making little tubes. With almost every other mascara I had a terrible problem with the mascara creeping down to some extent. (All together now Class...can we all say "Racoon eyes"?)
The brand I like is called "Kiss Me" Mascara & I bought it from a professional makeup artist. The company's website is " www.kissmemascara.com ". This mascara does not artifically curl you rlashes. (I do use an eyelash curler for curling my lashes, but it's a professional/mostly-plastic one - I'm kind of scared of the metal ones!) The "Kiss Me" folks also make a similar-style eyeliner with the 'no creep' factor.

agnes!

I like Clinique mascara, i forget what it's called, dramatic or impact or something. I got it in one of those free sample packs.

physician's formula Flat mascara

Go to your nearest sephora RIGHT NOW!

They have a huge mascara display, with disposable applicators and you can try all of the different ones. They explain what each one is good for. well worth a trip :)

I swear by Clinique Naturally Glossy Mascara. I have strayed and always went back-good curl, length and thickness! It's my fave! :thumbsup2

bourjois coup de theatre mascara (you can buy it at sephora) is all i use these days. it is amazing.

I swear by L'Oreal. I've never tried a mascara from that brand that hasn't been wonderful.

Maybelline Great Lash is a close second.

I use Borghese and LOVE it! It was recommended to me by a friend and it makes my lashes far more long and lush than any other that I've tried.

I don't curl my lashes. Never have. Can't help you there.

Maybelline or Avon waterproof versions - of course, I'm biased - I sell it.

FYI, it's suggested that you change your mascara every month or so to avoid bacterial contamination.:thumbsup2

Thanks!

I adore, love, will give my left toe for: MAC Pro Lash for a mere $10.

Now Ive tried their other versions - and nothing compares. This is the BEST one. :thumbsup2

most if not all waterproof mascaras give me raccoon eyes! I think the one I like best so far is Maybelline waterproof XXL. I didn't really like the Lancome hydrocils or whatever their waterproof one is that is supposed to be really good b/c it gave me raccoon eyes and was really clumpy.

I tried Maybelline sky high curves but that is not as good as xxl.

I have also started using MAC liquidlast eyeliner, which is waterproof and smudgeproof. The combo with the xxl has all but eliminated raccoon eyes for me and I couldn't be happier... :thumbsup2

This thread was good timing. I was going to ask for some recommendations for NOT getting racoon eyes. Seems like everything gives them to me.

Aside from the racoon eyes, I loved Estee Lauder's Max something it really pmuped up my lashes.

I also agree the L'Oreal makes good mascara - I use Voluminous and I've just tried the Volume Shocking which was a little clumpy. I'm going to go back to Voluminous - I've used it over 10 years now.

I love Badgal lash mascara by benefit. You can get it at Macys or Sephora. It really makes a big difference.
