Maryland

We bought at AKV in 2007. My wife and I both grew up in Maryland (her, Perry Hall; me, Eastern Shore). We live in DC now.

We've only been down using points once; a week at OKW back in October. We had a great time. We're going back down for about ten days in February and staying at BWV.

I can't even decide who to root for and I'm still jealous! What to do, what to do? :confused3

Hmm, might I suggest rooting for the Steelers in this town about now is a very dangerous thing to do. I expect the rivalry will become that much more after Sunday's game, win or lose. Worse if we lose, especially to another Ref-Invented TD call. (I still burn over that too. Happened right in front of me. How in the heck is it a TD when the ball NEVER BREAKS THE PLAIN?!)

If your heart lies with the Bills then you can be neutral. Sit back and enjoy the mania.

Ha! Ha! I am a fickle Ravens fan....my heart is with the REDSKINS!!! Grew up with them, but since Ravens are having a winning season, well gotta go with a winner right now!!:rotfl:

And you seemed like such a nice person. :faint: Ah well, at least you aren't one of those Deadskin fans bemoaning the sea of purple love taking over your Maryland town. I never did understand that.

Go Ravens! I spent the last half of the game last week walking in and out of the family room with my family yelling at me for being negative!! " Throw the ball! Go Flacco! Where is Ed Reed this game?? " I definitely will need a drink but I like the Prozac idea too! OH Please let them finally bet Pittsburgh!!! I hope our guys heal up fast!

So that makes 4 of us Howard County-ers. How ya handling the cold today? I'm glad I have a home office. Just hearing the wind howl is making me yearn for a sunny day at SSR. Just 3 more months.

I was right there with you. Very pessimistic. I had a bad feeling going into Saturday's game. Still cannot believe we won, at the last minute. So surreal. I'm feeling cautiously optimistic this week, which scares me even more.

My husband and I just purchased at AKV in Feb of 2008. January 23, 2009 will be our first trip as DVC members. Just wondering if there are any other DVC owners in Maryland and how your experience has been.TIA!

Howdy neighbor. We are probably right around the corner from you. I live in the Hollywoods development on Rt. 7. I purchased SSR in 2003 and have been very happy with it. Lost track of all of the trips so far.

Hope you enjoy and Welcome Home.

So only two of us from Montgomery County... there has to be more out there! It's a balmy 7 degrees this morning - it's 45 in Orlando and they have a wind chill advisory ("if you must be outside wear gloves and a hat"!!!). Yes, 45 is cold for FL, but I'd take it! We were supposed to be flying down today for the long weekend (my son is a CM so we were going to go visit him since school is out here), but then decided it was best to spend our money on my daughter's college applications instead of airfare. However, I'm thinking it's only a 13-14 hour drive... and gas is still cheap...

Too Funny! And you might want to escape the Innuaguration mess! Howard didn't give the Innaguartion day off, Did Montgomery?? My sister's friend is getting in a car and heading down since in Fairfax they gave them the bonus day to have off. I want to go with her and go look at the BLT models!!

OOOOH It is cold today. My daughter comes in the house this morning saying Mom I dont' know why you are telling me its cold out here. The Temp guage says 54. I was like no that cant be. So she brings me the little thingy and it says 5.4. I said honey its only 5 degrees!! Thank goodness we have not had any snow days yet!! Frederick was closed yesterday and Carroll has had early and late dismissals. Lets hope we stay on the warm line so we can get out in june earlier so I can go to Disney!!

GO RAVENS!!!!!

Yes, Mont. Co is now off. I think traffic is going to be such a mess around here on Tues. it probably was a wise choice. We're only a mile from 270 - thinking of buying cases of water from Costco and snacks and setting up a concession stand on the side of the road for all those sitting in traffic. Oh, yeah, and then charging $5 a head to use one of my bathrooms! Did consider renting out my house for the weekend (going rate at one point here was $2000/day, 3 day minimum), but DH wouldn't let me.

We are right up the street on 543. We were thinking about Hollywood for the oldest child to purchase. Those condo prices are pretty low.

Add us to the list.......we became members on Jan. 31st 2007..almost our 2 year anniversary and what better way to spend it than at WDW at OKW (not our home) but at the very first DVC resort. :cool1: Can't wait........ and trust me my dh can't wait to escape this MESS UP HERE. He will be working this entire "historical event" starting tomorrow for the next 4 days. Not to mention the weeks of meetings/prep and extremely LATE LATE HOURS before the big event. He will soon be saying throughout WDW...... "PLEASE GIVE ME A COLD ONE AND KEEP EM COMING!!!":rotfl2: Hey at least it will be in the 70's while we are there....better than waking up to 8 with a wind chill of -4 this morning. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

We are in Severn.................

So are you still going?? My dd starts college this Aug. so I feel the pain of the SR. year. The applications have not been our problem.....all have been free so far but all the STUFF SR. YEAR BRINGS.
Every time I turn around I am writing a check and I don't mean a little check.
:crazy2: That is why we are scaling our trips back after this summer trip. We have a son that is 3 years behind him.......so it will not get any cheaper.

I wish they had let us out. There are over 330 teachers out at last count...in our county. My kids keep telling me that their teachers at the high school are telling them to NOT COME. It is an excused absence if they don't go to school. So....WHY ARE THEY GOING???? I know a lot of people are making it a vacation week because here in AA county our kids are off Monday, W-F are 2 hour early dismissal days and the next week (when we are going to WDW) we have another early dismissal day on Monday, off T/W. So a lot of elementary/middle school kids are going to miss. Unfortunately the reason we have these early dismissal days are because of high school exams and I have two in high school. My biggest fear is a big snow shifting those days. :faint: I hope that doesn't happen.....because my Sr. dd can't miss an exam Sr. year. So I will be watching this weather like crazy the next week. :hyper:

GO STEELERS!!!!!!!We are NOT Raven fans.

GO STEELERS!!!!!!!QUOTE]

We're from Ellicott City and bought in Feb 07 at SSR and Feb 08 in AKV. We are also celebrating our 25th anniversary this year and going to use points for a stay during F&W festival so I can take my real dream trip - DCL Transatlantic crossing next year.

I grew up in Pittsburgh in the 70's also. The past two superbowls have been viewed on Arielvision in the middle of the caribbean. Unfortunately, I'm not sailing this year during Superbowl.

The Steelers were awesome in the 70's. Way back when I was a little girl living in AL at the time......like around 1st grade I would watch sports with my dad..he asked me "okay let's pick two teams to cheer on this year". We picked Steelers and the Colts. :rotfl2: The Steelers were just amazing in the 70's...that was back when the Steel Curtain was there. My dad loved the Colts because Bert Jones was the quarterback and I do believe he was at LSU as a college player and my dad is from La. I can name so many players from that Steelers team back then. I have always cheered them on. Then of course the Colts snuck out of Baltimore and even though I didn't grow up in MD people were so upset. Then enter the Indianapolis Colts.....and I would pull for them too unlike a lot of MD people. That is my oldest son's fave team.

Same Boat here, DD graduates in May. She is already enrolled part time at HCC and going full time in August. She is not ready or willing to live on campus. She wants to get her 2 year degree then transfer to either UM's business school or Salisbury State's business school.

Oh that is good though. MUCH cheaper. I wish my dd would consider a year AACC. She is more than likely to go to Towson....not far away but she will live on campus.

That's exactly what my son did last year during his senior year of HS. He went part time to Carroll CC his last semester of HS(he had technically finished but they don't let them graduate early). This year he is full time at CCC and is doing well. I think community college is an excellent way to start off......hmmm, by the way. My oldest went to Salisbury for 1 1/2 yrs. One day he calls me on the phone...."I'm at the boardwalk in OC if your trying to call me"..:sad2: This was on a Wednesday afternoon!!! Needless to say, he had to come back home and get that AA at the community college! All was not lost, he did graduate from UMBC.....but...after that I am a firm believer in community colleges! :goodvibes

AACC is a really good school and it's a lot easier on the wallet. Our oldest DD got her AA last year and is at MICA now. Middle DD is a senior, so she'll be heading to AACC in the fall.

ahggggggggggggg I think I hijacked this thread. Sorry!!!! :rotfl2:

This college thing just messes up my future disney trips. JUST KIDDING. :rotfl: We knew that our kids would grow up one day and go off to college IT JUST HAPPENED SO FAST.
