I think the Hong Kong Rumors are a bit pre-mature. I was reading an article recently that Disney stated they never agreed to it. It showed up in the yahoo stock report for disney. I will try to find it.

It may be that They are in talks, pretty firm on a deal, but Disney is just not ready to announce it yet.

I read the same thing. Tom Staggs said that Hong Kong (city) was a bit premature in announcing a Marvel themed land would be added. Can't remember where I read it.

i believe almost nothing...but this one does make a good bit of sense...

Hong Kong has been a problem child park and still needs more attendance...this would be a logical place to do it.

though i'm not entirely sure why they love the chinese parks so much...

on one hand, 99% of the population can't afford a ticket in their lifetime...

on the other hand...the other 1% is still like 200 million people

I don't think it is a huge leap from statements made by the suits not long ago about them looking in to using Marvel at their non-US locations, to saying HK will get it. HK needs something, and the only park that seems like it could get it earlier would be Shanghai - only because the park itself is currently under construction.

What do you think will happen to HKDL once Shanghai opens? I know it is a huge population center (1.35 billion in China alone) but it seems like from the concept artwork that Shanghai is going to be more of a real Disney destination whereas HKDL will remain more of a one day type of park. Don't you think HKDL will have to do something to remain viable?

yeah, they are DEFINATELY going to have to do A LOT MORE if they dont want to get left in the dust of Shanghai Disney

Adding a Marvel and Star Wars Land, then a downtown Disney type shopping complex and some more hotels would be the minimum IMVHO
